The News… in Poem Form! March 12, 2010

Maybe I’m late to this party, but I think this concept is brilliant! NPR’s Marketplace delivers the news…. in poem form! It’s so cute!

Click here to hear the reporter “speak” the news:

Here’s the text format… it’s so cute — yet practical!

The wealthiest human is Carlos Slim.
You’re probably wondering, “Hmm, who’s him?”
He’s a Mexican telecom king who rates
As richer than Buffet and richer than Gates.

It was a year ago stocks hit bottom.
You’ll see, if you plot ’em.
The year has brought ’em
Back. Those who bought ’em,
And then forgot ’em,
Profited, just like the experts taught ’em.

Our deficit just hit an all-time high.
Want to hear more? Yeah, neither do I.

If your Prius is out of control on the freeway,
I know that it’s fast and there isn’t much leeway.
But check your display real quick if you would.
You’ll notice your mileage is really quite good.

The Best Picture Oscar votes are in.
And the lowest-grossing movie to win
Ever, in history? It’s “The Hurt Locker.”
That’s a surprise but it isn’t a shocker.
‘Cause “Avatar,” while it was very high-tech,
Was still three dimensions of eye-popping drek.

I’ll post this poem in gorgeous 2-D,
You can watch it at Marketplace.org.
