An Epic Cross-Country Vacation May 28, 2014

So by now, you’ve seen a few of our pictures from our trip to China. I wrote about why we left Adele for the two weeks while we gone. It wasn’t easy leaving our little one behind.

You might be wondering where she was while we were away… Here’s a hint:

Long story short, Adele had two plane rides, slept in four cities in three states. She was well taken care of by family on both sides. It was the great cross-country family tour of 2014 for her. And she did great. She had an epic vacation and was completely spoiled by everyone she visited. Here’s just a few of the 400+ photos she came back with.

First she flew from LA to Chicago with Aunty Laurie. The next day, she drove to Indianapolis to visit Aunties EJ and Sarah!

A few days later, Grammie flew to Chicago and Adele drove back to Chicago and they stayed there for a few day!

On Easter Sunday, Grammie flew from Chicago to Boston for the rest of the trip.

This cracked me up! haha Adele’s hand-me-down become doll clothes!

We are beyond grateful for everyone who helped us out taking care of Adele so we could getaway on our trip. We know we absolutely couldn’t have done it without the support of family and we love you all! xo

So how did Adele get back home? Well after flying from Hong Kong –> Vancouver –> Los Angeles, I had one day to rest up at home and then the very next day, I got on a plane and flew to Boston. {Worst flight ever, by the way. Let’s just say I got sick a few times and swore I would never fly again.} When I landed, I was in tears because in 2 hours, I would be boarding another flight back to LA with Adele. I didn’t think I could do it. My mom and Mikaela bought me some medicine, gave me a pep talk and basically forced me to board the plane. HAHA I guess even when you’re 30 you still need your mom! Adele was very excited to see me though, her reaction was so super cute. I have it on video and I watch it over and over again. Love her!

Thank goodness, our flight home was easy, fast and sickness-free. We even scored an entire row to ourselves and Adele slept for most of it. Whew!

Jetlag was really tough for all of us. For about two weeks we weren’t sleeping. Even Adele was waking up at odd hours. But now we’re back on track again. All worth it for the incredible vacation Irving and I shared, and the pretty awesome one Adele got to experience as well.

Weekend Getaway: Monterey Aquarium January 24, 2014

Over the long weekend, we trekked five hours up the coast of California to the seaside town of Monterey. We met up with Irving’s mom and grandmother while we were there. It was three days of fish, ocean, family and relaxation. We had a lot of fun.

First up on our list of things to do was of course the Monterey Aquarium. It’s a must see, we spent ALL day there.

We knew Adele would like it, but we had no idea she would LOVE it. She had her face plastered to the tanks, we had to peel her away to move on to the next one.

We briefly let her play in the touch pool, but she was more interested in watching than touching.

The aquarium is right on the bay, so you can go outside and catch a glimpse at the wildlife out there as well. She was mesmerized by the waves. She kept saying “Water! Water! Water!”

But we eventually made it back inside to watch the Penguins!

This was a ‘beach’ exhibit with lots of birds on the sand. She really liked this one.

Once it was apparent it was nap time for the little (and lunchtime for the adults), we headed back to our hotel. (Shoes not required…the shoes and socks came off one by one on the ride back to the car!)

Adele took a nice nap and Irving, Nini and I snuck off for a nice lunch at the Black Bear Diner. (Thanks for babysitting Adele, Julie!) When she woke up, she was in a great mood, so we headed back to the Aquarium to take fully advantage of our tickets!

First stop was a visit back to see the waves!

Outside, they have an exhibit where you can stand under a glass wall and a wave will ‘crash’ over you. You never get wet of course, but Adele thought it was HILARIOUS. She got scared and then giggled. Over and over.

Back inside, we checked out the Jellyfish exhibits. I remembered these from when I first visited here in 2002(?)

You could even make a drawing and it would ‘swim away’ like a Jellyfish would. Irving’s quite the artist!

We spent the rest of our time there in the toddler playground area. They had a slide and bouncy things to climb on. And also a fish tank tunnel with little Nemos!

That night, we all went for Chinese Food (really really good Chinese food!) and then called it a night. We were all pretty tired. It was a full, wonderful day.

It’s Christmas EEEEEVEEE! January 4, 2014

Christmas is a two-day event in my family. Christmas Eve is the big extended family celebration with a Photobooth, Lebanese Food, Christmas Carols, Mike’s Pastry and presents. It’s fun to have a new generation experience it all as well! She was pretty spoiled this year!

Much to my dad’s excitement, Adele is obsessed with trains now! She calls them “Choo Choo’s”.

The girls singing loud and proud. Now that I think about it, I think the guys got away without singing a song this year!

Poor dad… he had three girls and now a grand-daughter. He’s a pro at the Tea Party concept now.

Oh, haha, apparently Papa is pretty good at Tea Parties too!

Grammie has a secret! Those girls love to giggle together!

Haha, my mom and I had matching Loft skirts in different patterns. Total coincidence!

Matchy, matchy Christmas shoes!

I love everything about Christmas, but mostly the time with family. =)

Baking with Grammie December 23, 2013

I think “Baking with her Granddaughter” has been on Grammie’s bucket list since Adele was born. Today, we made that wish come true. I don’t know who had more fun.

They started small, with some basic Pillsbury sugar cookies. Over the years, these two chefs plan to graduate to more complicated culinary adventures. But for today, it was all about Frosty and Santa.

These cookies were made with love, let me tell you!

Then we waited for our cookie masterpieces to come out of the oven.

And like all great chefs, Adele found out that half of cooking is doing the dishes!

I have to say, Adele’s Christmas Cookies are going to be the hit of Christmas Eve dinner! Get em’ while they’re hot!

The Randoms from Vegas November 30, 2013

The only hotel I took Adele into was the Bellagio, so we could see the flowers.

I took Adele downstairs to the Planet Hollywood shops to take some pictures one day. But she wouldn’t walk on the floor. It was super shiny and reflective and I think she thought it was water or something. It was really funny.
