A runner with an appetite for adventure!

Hollywood Honeymoon October 29, 2013

My sister (and new brother, Chris) honeymooned in California after their wedding. They had an AMAZING time up in Napa and Sonoma. Their pictures were so fun and they had such a great time up there. Then they continued their California adventure down in LA and San Diego. One night, we got a babysitter and went with them to Halloween Horror Nights at Universal Studios. It was SO fun.

We dined at Saddle Ranch beforehand and ended our meal with their infamous cotton candy.

We stayed out at Universal until 2am! (I haven’t seen that time on the clock in about 14 months. HAHA ) I was all nervous about the time, thinking Adele would be up at 6:30a (she was sleeping in our closet so Mikaela and Chris could sleep in her room– don’t worry, it’s a big closet). But she decided to sleep in til 9:30am!! WHATT?? We were so excited, we decided to reward her for her amazing sleeping talents by visiting Hollywood & Highland.

I feel like Hollywood gets stranger and stranger every time we visit, but it was fun.

And of course, we had to make a visit to the Hollywood sign. Mikaela wore her veil! Love it!!!

And a jump with dad too:

After all the jumping, we needed some fuel… in the form of Sprinkles Ice Cream! <— I only link to important things on my blog.
1235113_10152010860708804_893607500_nCan you see Chris’s cone? That’s what he ordered. That’s smaller than a sample bite! Are you kidding? Clearly he doesn’t know what he’s missing!

I have no pictures of what I ordered, but let me paint that delicious picture for you…. Red Velvet ice cream sandwiched between two CUPCAKE tops (Red Velvet and Vanilla)!! Are you kidding me?! A cupcake ice cream sandwich! It was as amazing as it sounds, I promise. It kind of looked like this:
l

The only thing that would have made this better was if there was ICING on the cupcake tops…. Cupcakes are vehicles for icing… if anything, Sprinkles should know this. Oh well.

No one shared with Adele, so she got bored and fell asleep. Usually it’s “Snooze, you Lose”… but in this case, it’s “Lose, you snooze”.

The original plan was to say Bon Voyage to the newlyweds as they took the Amtrak train down to San Diego for the last few days of their trip… but before they were slated to leave, we found out the train was shutdown due to track construction and they were offering a bus as an alternative… that didn’t sound remotely romantic to me, so we volunteered to drive them down to SD in our awesome minivan. Minivan>Bus.

I brought a map and looked for a beach to pull off into so Chris could touch the Pacific ocean for the first time. We randomly picked one in San Clemente and pulled into a parking lot. And wouldn’t you know… that was the EXACT location of the train track construction!!! Out of the miles and miles of track, we stumbled upon the road block. It was quite ironic.

To get to the water, we had to hike down a hill, traverse along a cliff, climb over a ledge, cross the train tracks, and jump down a sand dune…. and Irving did all of that holding a carseat with a sleeping baby in it. #DadOfTheYear

It was worth it for the amazing sunset we caught while we were there. We got some great shots. Here’s some of my favorites!

We had a great time hanging out with the honeymooners for a few extra hours. We topped off our exciting day with dinner in Old Town, San Diego before dropping them off at their hotel. We were so excited to be part of their honeymoon adventure. Hope you guys come back and visit soon!! XOXO

If you grew up in Northeastern Massachusetts like I did, you probably know exactly what “Beach Pizza” means. It’s pizza unlike anything you’ve ever had before. (I know Gaga Diaries knows what I’m talking about! It was the thing to do in high school when we were bored. “Let’s just get in the car and go get some Beach Pizza!” It’s square. It has provolone cheese on it. And it’s awesome.

There’s two competing places that make it: Tripoli’s and Cristy’s. We went with Tripoli’s this time.

I think Adele liked it! (I would have been disappointed if she didn’t!)

Then we took a stroll on the beach for a little bit and enjoyed the beautiful New England ocean breeze. Aunty Laurie tried on the Ergo!

Can’t wait to do a real beach day next summer! The only thing better than Beach Pizza is eating it while sitting on a towel on the beach!

Life at the Beach July 15, 2013

A couple of weeks ago, we headed to the beach with a few of Adele’s friends. This time, we chose the Mother’s Beach in Marina Del Rey. It’s a small beach in the bay, and there are virtually no waves and the water is shallow which allows for maximum splash time for the kids.

Wouldn’t it be nice if we could all just kick back in our pink “sized for me” chairs, applesauce in hand, feet kicking in the sea breeze, surrounded by friends — and “all-you-can-eat” strawberries & watermelon? This kid has the life, let me tell you.

Memorial Day Weekend Recap May 29, 2013

What a crazy busy weekend we had around here this week! I’m a big fan of “making lemonade” out of my “time off lemons”. I squeeze those lemons so tight to get every last drop of juice out. Ok, enough analogies… here’s my weekend recap.

FRIDAY
-Picked Adele up early, headed to an indoor playground where she played with ride on toys and practiced walking.

-Adele took a 2 hour nap in the afternoon (and I slept for 1.5 hours too!) Wonderful!

-Went for an evening walk in the neighborhood

SATURDAY
-Adele work up at 7:30a… and then went back down for a 2 hour nap from 9a-11a! Irving and I enjoyed the morning catching up.

-Adele’s first Swimming Lesson!!
IMG_8076

We practiced kicking our legs!
IMG_8085

Swim, swim, swim!
IMG_8086

-Picked up Adele’s friend and had an afternoon playdate!
IMG_8119

-Practiced Sharing Toys
IMG_8126

SUNDAY
-Got up early and went grocery shopping while Irving and Adele slept in (went to FOUR grocery stores looking for a pink cupcake… more on that below).
Screen Shot 2013-05-26 at 9.13.04 PM

-Went to JC Penney to take family pictures and Adele’s 1st Birthday photos! Thus the reason we needed a cupcake! Adele’s first intentional taste of sugar. Spoiler alert: she LOVED it.

This is a teaser picture! More from the photoshoot coming this weekend!

-Lunch at Red Robin (Adele is literally bouncing out of the high chair from the sugar high). We eat quick and hightail it back to the car! And then Irving and I eat the rest of her cupcake in the car! BAHAHA.

-Sugar Crash… Adele sleeps for 2 hours in the car. We take advantage and drive to Toys R Us to look for birthday presents for our baby girl.

-Join some friends for the Valley Greek Festival. We enjoy amazing food and a fun afternoon. (You guys, the food!! I can’t even explain how amazing it was).

MONDAY
-Morning walk that landed us at a restaurant for breakfast. Adele tries to eat straws and throw spoons on the floor. I apologize to anyone I ever laughed at when they told me to “enjoy pleasant meals while the baby is still little”. I get it now. ha!

-Baby playdate at the beach! We had an amazing group. Seven babies in all! We were at the beach for 5.5 hours! Everyone had a blast. The weather was perfect, the waves were beckoning little baby piggies to touch them, and watermelon was consumed along with handfuls of sand. It was pretty epic.

I tortured her by seeing if she’d stand in the sand. She wasn’t having it. haha

My beach baby slept the whole way back home, had a quick bath and was in bed by 7pm. What an incredibly fulfilling and fun weekend with my girl. Long weekends rule!

Are you guys sick of Hawaii pictures yet? Few more posts and I’m done, sorry!

Adele looks too cute in her bathing suit, so I have to just do a photo dump again to share all these pictures! These were taken in our hotel pool (which was salt water instead of chorine! So nice!) Enjoy!

One afternoon, Irving went golfing and I took Adele swimming solo. She is a fun swim buddy.

Irving participated in the Water Slide Relay race (believe it or not, there were more adults than kids playing!) He won a prize too! Red Vines and a plush soccer ball for Adele!

PS… Twizzles > Red Vines in my book. Am I right?!
