Excuse me, but please have a look at this (please don’t drool on my blog though).

I know, right? But let me back up…

Today was one of those days that I absolutely love. A laundry list of errands that you can check off one right after the other.

Donate to Goodwill
Deposit Checks at Bank
Call Insurance Company
Grocery Shopping
Get Gas

You get the idea. I love when I have a list of easy things to check off. Feels so productive, doesn’t it? Top of the list today was going to Costco to get more grapefruit cups.

I was just telling Irving this weekend that I was sad I didn’t have any crazy food cravings. I wanted to have an excuse to make Irving leave at 10:30 at night to ‘go and get me french fries NOW!” but that just hasn’t happened. I really haven’t craved anything that I needed that much……. until today.

Costco.Sold.Out.Of.Grapefruit Cups. Noooooooooooooo!!! I asked two employees very politely to please help me find them. Both turned up empty handed. Then I started to get panicked. “But you don’t understand. I need them”. They apologized and I turned into a crazy pregnant lady. I fought back tears (not really… kind of) and walked out of the store without my beloved grapefruit. I called Irving (obviously) and he said that he had brought the last one to work, but he would bring it back home so I could have it tomorrow. That’s love.

So it’s official. Red Grapefruit cups are my craving. And I just might die if Costco doesn’t bring them back by  Wednesday. No joke.

In other news…. you know how big Los Angeles is, right? It’s huge. It’s definitely not the kind of town where you run into people you know at the store. I mean, it can happen, but on average, it’s not likely. Well the SAME family that was in front of me in line at Costco also happened to be in front of me in line at Trader Joes after! HOW WEIRD IS THAT?! The guy joked “want to come to Whole Foods with us after this?” lol

And then this happened….

Chocolate with Cookie Spread? Chocolate with Chocolate Buttercream?! Are. You. Kidding? I spotted these on Erica’s blog today and knew I had to have them. I could barely get home before I tore them both open and had a square of each. They were pretty awesome.

I didn’t get outside once today! It was such a nice day too. Hope to change that tomorrow and go for a nice walk.

Next week I will be switching my blog to a self-hosted server. I’m so excited that my little blog is growing up! I’ve been trying to tweak a few things to get it ready for the big move. Let me know if you notice anything strange in the next few days.

I’d also like to take a moment to thank my lucky stars for friends like Erica who brought me an AMAZING chocolate treat from her recent trip to Canada. (She was there at the same time Will and Kate were there!)

We adore Ice Wine. It’s a little pricey, but once a year or so, it’s definitely worth the splurge. Ice Wine comes from grapes that are harvested while they’re frozen so they can only make it in certain parts of the world (like Canada!)

Whoever thought to combine this with chocolate should win some kind of prize. It was delicious! Thanks, Erica!

Irving and I went to the grocery store tonight (armed with BOATLOADS of coupons from BlogHer!) He wandered around the store looking for boring things like BBQ sauce and milk while I beelined to my favorite aisle.

Boy, do I love cereal. I could spend all day looking at cereal boxes, comparing prices, sizes and taste. Growing up my mom used to have a $2 rule. We had to choose the cereal that was $1.99 or less. Nowadays it’s hard to find a box for less than $3, but I still try to go for the sales and use my coupons. I totally broke all the rules tonight when I walked away with this.

I got a few samples of this at BlogHer this weekend and I LOOOOOVED it. It was $4.49 (my mom is probably gasping out loud right now!) but I had a coupon that brought it down to $3.50. Still pricey, but worth it for a product I now love so much. (Hear that Quaker? you gave me a free sample and I shelled out a few bucks for more just a few days later! Marketing for the win!)

Classic Foods sent me (two) boxes of some of their new Baked Classics Chips recently. I wasn’t expecting to get quite so many, so I have been sharing the love with my friends lately.

They made an appearance at the Hollywood Bowl last week and I passed them out to our friends. Chips make great picnic food. They travel well and it’s fun to have your own bag.

They sent over a new product that I’ve never seen before: Vanilla Frosting Multigrain Chips. I am a total vanilla girl. I almost always choose vanilla over chocolate if given the choice! (But I’ll never turn down good chocolate either, don’t get me wrong!) Wait… a vanilla frosting flavored chip? How intriguing!

“They are popped to a light, crunchy crisp and then seasoned in the mouth-watering flavor of Vanilla Frosting.”

They have no cholesterol, trans fat, saturated fat, preservatives, msg, high fructose corn syrup or artificial flavors or coloring.

I’m a huge vanilla fan and I really, really liked these. They feel indulgent, totally satisfy my sweet tooth and surprised my taste buds a bit. I’ve been bringing them with my lunches lately, but I always save the chips for my 3pm sugar craving hour. Always does the trick.

I asked my friends to try them too and let me know what they think. Overall, most people liked them and appreciated what a new and different product it was. But some thought the taste was a bit artificial. It’s also a little strange because they do taste like a rich sugar cookie, but the texture is that of a chip. So maybe it could be compared to a crunchy cookie? It’s hard to explain, but I kind of liked it.

Want to try them for yourself? I have a couple of bags to give out! Comment below and I’ll pick a winner on Monday.
Tell me what your vice is: salty or sweet!

Classic Foods provided me with these chips for the purpose of reviewing it on All opinions are my own.

Sugar, Chocolate and Coffee Beans July 9, 2011

Trader Joes recently introduced a new product. It’s a Sugar, Chocolate & Coffee Bean Grinder. I’ll take a gamble on just about anything Trader Joes puts on the shelves, so we decided it was definitely worth a taste.

They say you can put it on anything: cake, coffee, ice cream. **Record Scratch**  ICE CREAM?! Well then I bet it would be GREAT on banana soft serve ice cream!

I whirled up some plain banana soft serve and sprinkled my little heart away.

It added just the right amount of sweetness and flavor. Such a great idea! Such a great idea. I think the grinder only cost $1.99 which is pretty awesome for something so great that will probably last a long time.

I wonder what else I could put this stuff on?

I eat Bananas sometimes as a vehicle to eat Peanut Butter, Chocolate Chips and Coconut.

Is that wrong?

This is the lazy man’s banana soft serve. It’s everything I would have put inside anyways. Mmmm!

I firmly believe that Bananas and Stawberries were put on this earth for the sole purpose of pairing them with chocolate. =) When we were at Henry’s yesterday, we found this homemade Chocolate Peanut Butter for a pretty decent price, and we HAD to get it.

The strawberries we bought were the size of my hand. They were huge, ripe and delicious!

I sliced those babies up right away and tried out our new treasure!

Just as I expected, It was awesome. Dinner was some bread smeared with the chocolate PB topped with Strawberries and Bananas. I just couldn’t resist.

I might have to recreate this tonight.

It started out innocent enough….

I found this recipe on Roni’s blog recently.  Avocado Chocolate Pudding. I mean… I like Avocados, and I like Chocolate.

Erika came over for dinner tonight, and we were both excited to make this for dessert.

Add some chopped avocado, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, milk and vanilla and give it a whirl!

It was pretty amazing to see it turn into chocolate after just a couple of minutes. We were intrigued.

But behold… It actually had the texture of chocolate pudding!

It did taste pretty good, but it stuck to my stomache like glue. I actually only had a few bites before I had to put it down. Way too rich, even for me! It was a great experiment, and it did work… but just not for me. Maybe because I kept thinking of it as Avocado and it was weirding me out.

After dinner, we relaxed while watching this amazing movie:

This is by far, my favorite movie… ever. I was obsessed when I was in middle school. Remember back in the day if you didn’t have HBO, the channel would come in scrambled? I used to listen to the movie over and over (even though I couldn’t see the picture). So, so good.

Did anyone else have this poster on their wall in 1996? Who’s with me?

In other news, look what Irving hung on the wall today!

The 1st Wedding Anniversary gift is ‘Paper’, and I gave Irving this print. The background was a photo he took of the sunrise over the lake on our wedding day. And the text is from our first dance.  The song was ‘Everything Else Disappears” by Sister Hazel. It’s a beautiful song. Here’s some of the lyrics:

I thought that I’d known you forever
I felt like I’d finally come home
After all of these lifetimes
You still take my breath away

Everything falls out of focus
You walk through the door
And one thing that’s clear to me
Helplessly hopeless
I’m all right with that
In a room full of people
Everything else disappears

Awe, I just got swept away thinking about this for a second there. Hearing our band play that song for us, and staring into Irving’s eyes was one of the best moments of my life.

Thanks for hanging the picture up, babe! Love you!

What was/will be your wedding song?

A Valentine’s Day Soiree February 15, 2011

Last night, Irving and I had such a Romantic evening. We headed up to Simi Valley to attend the ‘Valentine’s Day Sweetheart Dinner and Dance’. It was such a great night, we ate, danced, laughed and talked. It was perfect.

Backing up a little bit, the event started at 6pm, which isn’t easy coming from the Hollywood area. We got dressed in 15 minutes flat!

But we made it just in time. The Reagan Library is really a sight to see if you are in the area. The American History comes alive through their amazing exhibits. They just redid them all for Reagan’s 100th Birthday celebration.

We had such a great time wandering through the museum on our way to dinner. Ladies and Gentlemen, may I introduce to you the next President of the United States!

And his first lady, Kelley!

We’re naturals. And the first task on the job is to make a television broadcast to our country.

You’re live in 3…2…1!

Then we arrived at the highlight of the evening. Seeing Air Force One.

So much history was made on this aircraft. They call it “The Flying White House”. The Reagan Library website says: This Flying White House, tail number 27000, served seven U.S Presidents from 1973 to 2001, including Presidents Nixon, Carter, Ford, Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Clinton and George W. Bush.

We literally dined underneath Air Force One!

To our right, we could see Marine One too (The Presidential Helicopter!)

We must have been the youngest couple there by almost twenty years, and we LOVED it. It was so nice to look around and see all these older couples still dancing, still happy, and still in love. I can’t wait to grow old with Irving and share these fun evenings with him. I just hope I can dance as well as them in sixty years!

We were seated at our own sweetheart table overlooking the dance floor. It was so cozy and we had fun chatting.

My handsome Valentine!

But ok… the food. Oh My Gosh, The food! It was amazing. We started with some champagne.

Cheers! To many more!

Fresh Rosemary Bread

The Salad: EPICUREAN GREENS with cheese, candied pistachios, sliced oranges and a raspberry balsamic vinaigrette

I had the vegetarian dish this time: VEGETABLE RISOTTO with parmesan and asparagus spears

And Irving had the Chicken: ROASTED ROSEMARY CHICKEN in a marsala wine sauce with Mashed Potatoes, Asparagus Spears and Carrot Souffles

And for dessert: FLOURLESS CHOCOLATE CAKE with dark chocolate ganache, white chocolate mousse, fresh berries and raspberry coulis

OHMYGOSH I’ve never had chocolate cake as good as this. NEVER. This was to DIE for. And the saddest part? We couldn’t even finish it. That photo above was per person! We each had our own. I tried to finish it, I really did. But I was far too stuffed. I eventually surrendered and watched the waiter carry it away with a tear in my eye. I will dream about this cake for as long as I live. Seriously.

After dinner, we headed down towards the dance floor.

There were so many incredible dancers that we were a little intimidated. These guys know the waltz, the fox trot, the samba, you name it, they danced it!

We found our place in a corner where our two left feet wouldn’t get in anyone’s way. It was fun though. We practiced a few of our wedding dance spins and had a blast.

To dance underneath one of the most iconic symbols of America was a little surreal.

Down below, there is a bar that was gifted to the Library from Ireland. It’s a pub that Reagan visited when he was over there. They were going to tear it down, but instead, donated it. So neat!

It was truly an event we will never forget. We feel so lucky that we have this stuff at our fingertips.

At the end of the night, we got to take home the flowers from the tables! They were really cute.

Happy Valentine’s Day, Irving!

And just for fun, here’s a flashback picture of us in this same place back in 2006!
