The Rules:

-Post these rules
-You must post 11 random things about yourself
-Answer the questions set for you in their post
-Create 11 new questions for the people you tag to answer
-Go to their blog and tell them you’ve tagged them

11 Things About Me:

  1. In 5th & 6th grade, I wanted to be a Paleontologist. I even had a subscription to ‘Archaeology Magazine’.
  2. Despite all the tree climbing I used to do, I have never broken a bone.
  3. I prefer Vanilla over Chocolate when it comes to cupcakes.
  4. I use Irving’s face cream when he’s not looking because it smells better than mine. (He buys the good stuff).
  5. My first car was a 1989 Honda Accord (with a sunroof). Irving had a Fiero and then a 1983 VW Vanagan. HAHA
  6. I came in 4th Place in my Sophomore Year Science Fair for doing a project about highway pollution.
  7. The first R-Rated movie I ever saw was Pretty Woman. My babysitter let me watch it if I promised not to tell my parents. LOL
  8. I didn’t have an avocado til I was 22ish years old. Irving begged me to try it and now I eat them with a spoon. Mmmm!
  9. My mom and I were both in the ‘Chess Club’ in school. Nerds.
  10. Irving and I love to eat at restaurants where we bring down the average age of patrons to 65 years old. Those places are the best!
  11. I’m only 5’1” and I do a happy dance when I find jeans that come in short.

It is really hard to think of 11 facts about yourself on the fly.

Questions from Run|Bake|Race:

1. What song on your iPod are you most embarrassed by?

I LOVE techno/trance/house music. I’ve loved it since high school and people used to make fun of me, but now it’s all the rage. Irving and I recently combined our music collections and when we set it on ‘random’ and some wierd techno song comes on, he just rolls his eyes.

Other favorite bands: Blink 182, Coldplay Green Day, Less Than Jake, Aqua, old-school Offspring. It’s a good balance. =)

2. What was your first concert?

I believe it was Blink 182 in High School. We got press passes and got to meet the band before the show too!

3. If you could live anywhere, where would it be?

Honestly, I wouldn’t trade anything. I love Los Angeles. I’ve lived here for 7.5 years and it really feels like home now. Second choice: Boston (closer to family). Internationally: Somewhere in Europe, just for a year. That would be awesome.

4. What would your last meal be?

Grilled Cheese w/Tomatoes, extra pickles on the side. Pazooki for dessert. I’m a simple girl.

5. What’s your favorite flavor of ice cream?

Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough.

6. Do you still have a t-shirt from high school or college?

I actually have a shirt from 4th grade (all my classmates signed it), a shirt from Junior year of High school and a handful of shirts from College.

7. Is your computer a laptop or a desktop?

I have a desktop computer that my husband and I built from scratch! We also have a netbook for traveling.

8. What would your dream job be?

Professional home organizer. We love to organize and declutter. It’s turned into an obsession lately. I’m sure our enthusiasm will die down once the nursery is put together and we can enjoy our family of three!

I also would love to run an ebay store so I can have an excuse to go to the post office everyday. I LOVE shipping things.

9. What is your favorite holiday?

I used to think Christmas was my favorite, but the older I get, the more I like Thanskgiving. It’s so nice to relax, enjoy family and unplug for a few days without the chaos and hubbub of gift giving and the new year.

10. Did you go to college in a different state than where you grew up?

My dream school was Emerson College. I wanted to go there since I first heard about it in 7th grade. I was lucky that it was in Boston, just 30 minutes from where I grew up. I wouldn’t have changed any of it, it was awesome.

11. Do you dread going to the doctor?

Not really. In high school, when I had cancer, I was going to the hospital a few times a week, so you get used to it. Now, I look forward to it for peace of mind and to ask all my questions. I like the doctor even more now because I get to see how my baby is developing and that’s always exciting. =)

——————-

I’m tagging  Kaitlin with Honey, The Gaga Diaries and Left Coast Contessa. Let’s hear it girls!

My Questions for them:

  1. Would you change anything about your high school experience?
  2. What was your first car?
  3. Did you have a secret hiding place when you were a kid?
  4. Do you know any other languages? Do you wish you could speak any others?
  5. Name the top five things on your bucket list.
  6. Ever have 15 minutes of fame?
  7. If you could excel at something you currently don’t, what would it be?
  8. Would you ever want to write a book? What would it be about?
  9. What’s your greatest fear?
  10. What was your favorite grade in school and why?
  11. Twilight or Hunger Games?

Feel free to leave a comment with some of your answers too!

We’ve finally been at home for a couple of weeks and we’ve been spending that time relaxing, catching up and getting lots crossed off our perpetual to-do lists. I know my posts have jumped off a cliff lately, but truth is, we’ve been kind of boring and there isn’t much going on. But we’ve got some small trips coming up that I’m sure will give me more to post about in the coming weeks.

Yesterday, we found out that the MLS Cup was going to be near our house, so we jumped in the car and drove over to see it. Irving’s a huge soccer fan and has been following the championship games religiously. We’re so excited to be going to the big game next weekend too. (Rooting for the LA Galaxy, of course).

Woo Hooo Soccer Players! lol. Sign me up!
IMG_0630IMG_0635

This morning, we got up and went for a walk and chatted about life and other musings. Somewhere along the way, I convinced Irving to buy me this chocolate. I mean, it’s limited edition, who cares if it was $4. I can’t WAIT to break into this after dinner tonight.
IMG_0637

I could share pictures of the four loads of laundry we did today, or the new internal card reader I installed in my computer.  But that doesn’t make for an interesting read. I promise to make my life more exciting for you and I both in the coming weeks.

Now, if you’ll excuse me, I have some dinner to make so I can jump right into dessert. Have a great week!

I love these funny pictures from the BlogHer sponsor booths. Some of them are so funny.

This one especially. HAHA.

Anyways, the closing keynote was on the power of women in media. The panel was Carol Jenkins, Fatemeh Fakhraie and Ricki Lake!
IMG_6920

Right after, Ricki bought drinks at the bar for anyone who wanted to go! I didn’t grab one, but they looked delicious.

After having dinner at the pool, it was Party Time!!! We went to two, but the one everyone was talking about was the Cheeseburgher Party… sponsored by McDonalds. I will just come right out and say that I do not eat Micky D’s. I haven’t had a burger from there in a good 11 years or so.
IMG_6930

They actually did have burgers and fries on platters at the party… but I did not partake.IMG_6935

I stuck with my H2O instead.

And with that, BlogHer was officially over. What a great experience.

We had breakfast in Little Italy the next morning (and boy was it nice to sleep in!)

Cream Cheese and Pesto bagel? So good!
IMG_6959

And then we headed back to LA. It took us about three hours to get home (oh, the traffic!!!) I’m finally unpacked and organized again.

And I love this card. It is just TOO perfect, isn’t it?

I can’t decide if BlogHer weekend felt like 10 days or 10 minutes. It’s crazy how many people I met and how much I learned in such a short amount of time. Overall, it was really great and I’m excited to try out some new things I learned.

SYS068_201108051255563839

Now that I’m safely back home, I can tell you where we stayed for the weekend! The La Pensione Hotel in Little Italy is one of our favorites. We stay there every time we go to San Diego since the rates are low and the location is great. IMG_6878

It’s right in the heart of Little Italy and just a block away from the Trolley.

IMG_6954
They recently updated the rooms too, so it’s got a European Chic look now. I love the grey + silver color scheme they have now!
IMG_6804

Our room had been renovated, but there were others that were completely redone from the bottom up. We asked to take a peek and they were gorgeous. Next time we’re staying in one of these!
IMG_6948

IMG_6952

Sigh. I just love nice hotels. Especially the ones that are cute, off the beaten path, and really feel like home. (Not that my home has an awesome bathroom like this, but you know what I mean).

So back to the conference, after I had breakfast with Bob, I headed over to the Daisy Cottage Cheese Refuel & Recharge suite. I was invited to have a snack, talk about nutrition and get a spa treatment. Sign me up!
IMG_6908

Just a tid-bit from what I learned, Daisy Cottage Cheese only has three ingredients: Cultured skim milk, cream and salt. That’s it. It was a perfect mid-day snack! Thanks for the invite, ladies!
IMG_6911

I also did a paraffin hand treatment before I left too. Have you ever done that? You literally submerge your hands into piping hot wax and let it harden, then it peels off! So cool! That was definitely a first for me!

After that, I popped back into some sessions to learn some more! First up was Til Blog Do Us Part. I initially thought it was about how blogging affects relationships and marriages. I think blogging is definitely a delicate subject that your spouse and family really should be on board with. I’m lucky that I do have the support of my husband and family (love you!) However, the session mostly talked about blogging about divorce, remarriage and mixed families. Though it didn’t really apply to me, it was still interesting to hear the panel, specifically the man below, who co-writes a blog with his ex-wife about raising their children.
IMG_6914

I snuck out of that one a few minutes early to catch the end of Blog Design and I was sad to have missed the beginning of it. It really sounded like an awesome session about what makes blogs look good from font to sidebars to headers. (Kelocity needs a header, don’t you think? Working on it!)

Then lunch! As I was in line to make my plate, I did a double take and saw the beautiful Kelle from Enjoying the Small Things. I read about 200 blogs a day, and if there was ONE blog that I could recommend, it would be this one. She and her family will melt your heart, you MUST go over there right now and look. Seriously go! I was totally star struck when I saw her. And little Nella was just TOO CUTE!
IMG_6915

I’ll be back soon with the last of the BlogHer Recaps! I’m off to watch Meet Joe Black with my husband! They shot the movie at the same place where my friend had her wedding two weeks ago, so now we’re dying to see it in the film!

Breakfast with Bob! August 6, 2011

My morning started out with some Excedrin and a Vitamin Water. Man, I haven’t had a lick of alcohol in months and yet I felt hung over this morning. lol But these guys did the trick, thank goodness!  (First migraine in over a month though, this is progress!)
IMG_6892

Thankfully the headache was gone by the time I got to the conference today. And I had a really important date! Breakfast with Bob Harper, one of the trainers from The Biggest Loser.
IMG_6903

The session was sponsored by Quaker. I had some Oatmeal Squares and fruit while I drooled over listened to Bob. There’s just something about him that makes people excited about healthy living and getting fit.
IMG_6906

Some of the things he spoke about:
-Breakfast is the most important meal of the day (duh!)
-Nutrition is the #1 and #2 most important thing. Exercise is #3.
-Bob actually hates the Biggest Loser scale (haha)
-His Mantra: “Believe in yourself, trust the process, change forever”.

Fun fact: Bob and I have each run 3 marathons. If I run one more, I’ll have run more marathons than him. HAHAHA Perhaps a new goal??
