We’re always up for a good road trip. Phoenix is only 6 hours from LA, so we got up early on Saturday and hit the road (coffee in hand of course)!
We left at 5:45a and it was dark for the first hour or so. Then the sun started to come up. Towards Palm Springs, the landscape is gorgeous. They have mountains you can’t find anywhere else in the country. So unique to the desert landscape.
After a little nap, we stopped in Palm Springs for Breakfast.
There’s a great place called “Manhattan in the Desert” that has become a favorite of ours. We both got French Toast. mmmm!
We didn’t pick up any sweets, but they have an amazing bakery. Case in point:
We killed a couple of hours listening to old episodes of NPR’s This American Life.
Most of the drive looked like this from my point of view!
Then we crossed the border! Which means the time changes! Arizona is 1 hour ahead of Los Angeles.
PS… we just stopped at a rest stop in the middle of nowhere that had one of these stuffed animal claw machines:
Sounds innocent enough, but each toy had a $20 bill attached to it with a rubber band…. isn’t that gambling? I’m pretty sure that’s illegal.
Onward onto Phoenix!!
