When Irving and I moved out to Los Angeles, we had no jobs, no cars and no plan. We had a rented minivan full of stuff and one-room studio apartment that was steps away from Hollywood Blvd. Our address was located in ‘Hollywood, California’. My relatives back in Boston just thought that was the coolest thing in the world. We had three un-employed months of Southern California Bliss. We were sleeping on a futon mattress, sipping mimosas at noon, and soaking in the glitz of Hollywood.
Just a few short weeks after moving out here, we got invited to attend the 2005 Oscars — on the RED CARPET! We couldn’t believe how lucky we were. We got all glammed up and waited to mingle with the stars!
Leo and Gisele!
Orlando!
Natalie Portman!
And my personal favorite…. Oprah herself (who doesn’t look too thrilled I took this picture!)
Welcome to Hollywood, Kelley and Irving!
I have lots more pics of celebs from that day. Let me know if you’re interested and I can roll them out little by little.
If you could meet one celebrity, who would it be? I used to want to meet Prince William.
That is so crazy and fun! Wow! Ya’ll were so brave to move to a new city with no connections or plans!
I would love to meet some celebrities…I can’t narrow it down to just one but just seeing them all in person at a red carpet event like the Oscars would be awesome!! 🙂
(I wonder if people there were wondering who you were? I bet people thought you were someone famous too!)
Oops I forgot to add…I would love to see more pics that you have!
Good luck at Surf City this weekend! I am planning on working at the Expo this weekend (Saturday) at the volunteer reg booth starting at 12 or 1 PM. Come by and say hi if you happen to go at that time.
YOU MUST tell me how you got invited! i am completely jealous. and if you ever need a date to ashley tis’ house, just let me know 🙂
LOL i think we were just at the right place at the right time. It was one of those ‘friend of a friend had some extra tickets one year’ things. I’ve been dying to go again ever since. Jimmy Kimmel does a great show on Oscar day every year. I’ll let you know if I see tickets open up for that. In my opinion, it’s the next best thing. 🙂
