Carrying the Celebration on and on… February 17, 2012

Irving and I were married two and a half years ago but I wanted to share something that Irving’s sister, EJ, organized for us.

We hosted a ‘Farewell Brunch’ the day after the wedding and we invited guests to grab some coffee and hang out with us before we left on our honeymoon. EJ gave each person a blank notecard to fill out and told everyone to label the front with a specific day or event to know when to open it.

In the end, we had about twenty cards that we could open at various times and it has been so much fun. The one we opened most recently was labeled “The day you find out you are pregnant”. That one was exciting. Each one had a warm message from family and friends and it dragged out the excitement of the wedding even further.

If anyone is getting married anytime soon, I highly recommend doing this with your guests. Actually,  you could do this for any occasion! Might be a great anniversary/birthday/graduation idea too!

    Add one year?

  4. That is such a sweet idea. My husband and I wrote letters to each other during pre-cana and were told to open them on our 1st anniversary. Next month is our 1st anniversary and I’m excited to open the letters. I think I might need to make it a yearly event.
