The Hallowedding October 30, 2013

One of my favorite friends from Emerson got married last weekend in an epic event dubbed “The Hallowedding”. It was one of the most unique weddings I’ve ever been to! Michelle and Alex are the funnest couple I know, their love for life and each other is contagious. I had a blast!

It took place at the Carousel on the Santa Monica Pier. How cool is that!! We got to ride the Merry-Go-Round all night long!! That right there makes it the best night ever.

It was fun hanging out with my friends Noah and Janet too!

Oh, you’re probably wondering why they have Sheep hats on…I forgot to mention… since it was the Hallowedding, all the guests had to come in costume! And if anyone knows Emerson, you know people take their costumes seriously. Janet and Noah were “Sheep in a Jeep”!

There were some amazing costumes there, some of the best I’ve ever seen! Made mine look so amateur. I forgot I was in Hollywood, among some of the most creative people in the industry. But I had fun with my costume… I went as a Silent Movie Star.

Black lipstick. Hmmm. there’s a first time for everything!

But enough about me, let’s talk about how gorgeous the bride was!

They put some much thought into all of the details. They had a “Flipbook Photo Booth” where all the guests did a 7 second skit in front of a camera and it prints out an actual paper flipbook of your actions!! And they got video files of everyone’s hilarious acting.

There was also a beer pong tournament, a polaroid camera guestbook, and a bar… but not just any bar… they turned the merry-go-round ice cream parlor into the bar! Which meant you could order milkshakes or sundaes… spiked with alcohol. I should have tried one! Now I wish I did!

But I did have my share of sweets from the awesome dessert buffet. S’Mores cookies and Cookie Dough cupcakes? Yes please!

They promised “surprises” throughout the night, and that included a midnight delivery from Taco Bell! I can officially say that my first Taco Bell taco EVER was consumed at the Hallowedding. Yes, I know. How did i go 30 years without ever trying one. It was pretty awesome.

It was a great night out and I was so thankful to be a part of Michelle and Alex’s special night. Congratulations to you guys! And as I said in my guestbook message: “May your marriage be as fun as your wedding.” It was fantastic!

M&C: The Wedding October 21, 2013

My sister, Mikaela married her soul mate last week. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous. Every detail was accounted for. They both worked so hard to create a day they (and us!) would never forget. There was so much love in the air on October 4th! ❤

The girls had a great time getting ready in the morning. We had some food and some champagne and we just relaxed while we got ready. The bride was very excited and her energy was contagious!

We had awesome hair stylists. I loved my updo! Here’s some closeups!

Sister Laurie!

And my mom… wow. Gorgeous!

It’s so fun getting all dressed up. I loved the dresses!
(PS got to reuse my bridesmaid shoes from my friend Erika’s wedding!)
Mikaela was just stunning. Her dress had a beautiful lace overlay. The most beautiful bride I’ve ever seen.

Irving, my dad and Laurie’s boyfriend were on ‘baby duty’ while the girls got ready. They took good care of the world’s cutest flower girl.

Oh, Hi, Irving!

Soon enough, it was go time! I wasn’t sure if Adele would walk down the aisle or not… but at the last minute, I decided just to carry her. It was a long way to walk  and I didn’t want her to hold up the parade. She did great!

Here comes the Bride!!!! Seems like just yesterday my dad was walking ME down the aisle! You did great, dad!

I think she was very excited to see Chris waiting at the end of the aisle. The two of them just seemed SO happy. They are perfect for each other. They had a nice wine blending ceremony, which was perfect since the venue is a winery.

But my favorite part of the ceremony was when Chris was doing his vows. Mikaela had snuck in an extra line without him knowing that required him to ‘vow to love and protect Gizmo’ (their dog). He was taken off guard and everyone laughed, it was very funny.

Gizmo was actually waiting for them after the ceremony to take some pictures!

The setting was unbelievable. Fall was the perfect time for a vineyard wedding. These belong in a magazine!
The whole gang!

Stealing this from the photographer. It belongs in a magazine!

Got some great family pictures after the ceremony too!

So cute!
Soon it was time to head inside to get our dancing on!

Mikaela was really proud of her wine rack program display because she “didn’t even get the idea from Pinterest!” So… happy pinning folks!

They did all their centerpieces on their own too. Gorgeous!!! That’s a lot of wine to drink to get that many corks! haha

Laurie and I wrote a poem as our ‘toast’ to the new couple. It was pretty epic.  We had fun with it. My favorite part was when Adele yelled “YAYYY” and clapped at the end of it. It was awesome. Everyone laughed.

The first dance!

Cutting of the cake! They had AMAZING cupcakes. And you know me and cupcakes. AWESOME!

Me and my dad…. and ahem… Jim. HAHA

haha let’s try again!

My little girl was SO good during the wedding! She sat at the table with us and chatted along with everyone. She was so happy to be there. We had a blast.

And when in doubt, bring raisins. =)

Then we let the dancing begin!!!

Adele danced until the lights came back on at 10:30p! She literally danced. In a circle, around the circle and inside the circle…. all night long. I couldn’t believe it. She was having the time of her life.

I was laughing because occasionally, we take baby music classes where one teacher sings some mild songs and the kids dance for a half hour or so. By comparison, this party was loud, the lights were flashing, the beats were pumping, people were jumping… i can’t even imagine how much her brain was overstimulated and she was loving it! Eventually we changed her into her jammies but that didn’t cramp her style one bit! She was still jamming with the best of them!

And just for fun, I love this picture of my grandparents. I think everyone had an absolute blast. It was an incredible night.

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs!!! We love you both so much!! And now the real fun begins!!! Happy wedding, happy marriage!!!! xoxoxo

Hopefully the photographer doesn’t mind I posted a few of these. They were too gorgeous not to! I had to!

Mikaela + Chris: The Rehearsal October 15, 2013

M&C got married at a gorgeous winery in New Hampshire. The setting was absolutely beautiful.

The rehearsal was a couple of days before the big event and it was so fun seeing family and friends getting excited about it too!

An Aunty sandwich!

Lace on babies. SOOOO cute!!

The rehearsal itself went great! I know the bride was very excited!

Adele was the flower girl, which meant she had a very important job to do. But unfortunately… she slept through the entire rehearsal. haha

The excited Bride + Groom to be!!

Once Adele woke up, we took a few pictures because really, there is no better backdrop than this property. Stunning!!

If you think the rehearsal was beautiful, wait til you see the wedding itself!! Stay tuned!

The Night We All Got Wild October 10, 2013

It seems like it’s been FOREVER since I’ve posted anything! But I have a good excuse. We were busy watching this last week:
_DSC0081Photo courtesy of Papa!

But that amazing day happened at the end of my week in Boston, so there’s lots to catch up on before then first! We flew in on Friday, September 27th on a direct flight. We booked an early morning flight out of LA this time and it was a good move. Adele played for a while and ended up falling asleep on me for a few hours in the middle.  We arrived in and met Laurie at the airport (she arrived a few minutes before us!) And we rented a car and drove to my parents house. We had a nice big family dinner that night and called it an early night. Feels good to be home!

Saturday was a busy day! Mikaela’s bachelorette party!!

A bunch of us girls decorated the place and hosted a potluck dinner before the festivities!

And we toasted to the bride to be!!!

Soon, our huge SUV limo picked us up and we headed into Boston! First stop… photo opportunity at Fenway park! haha

It was a crazy night, you guys. We all got wild and…. did a hotel room PHOTOSHOOT! YES!!

That’s how we roll! We were channeling our inner Annie Leibovitz. Pretty good, right?!

A fun night to kick off the week of wedding festivities!!! Mikaela’s got some awesome friends!! Those girls are fun!!

A Yosemite Wedding August 9, 2012

The main event from the weekend (and the reason we were visiting) was to celebrate the marriage of Irving’s friends Brian and Victoria. They are an awesome couple who LOVES the outdoors. They visit Yosemite often and have climbed some of the most famous rocks in the park together! Since it’s such a special place for them, they thought, what better place to get married?

We’re always stoked for destination weddings because it’s a reason to visit places we might not otherwise think to go! Plus, I love weddings in general, so it was a no-brainer we would be there!

…Even with an 8 week old baby!

We were all dressed up, so of course it was the perfect opportunity for more photos!

Adele couldn’t make it to the wedding (she had big plans to spend the day with Grandma).

(One of my favorites!)

It was fun to introduce Adele to some of Irving’s high school friends. Hi Jesse!

But soon it was time to pass her off to Grandma for the evening.

I left her with a few bottles of milk and away we went. Adele was in good hands. =)

The ceremony was in a gorgeous chapel on the Yosemite Valley floor (a little over an hour away). They had charter busses to bring guests down to the church. What an incredible trip though. The views were just amazing.

This is Bridalveil Falls! Still had some water running over its cliffs there!

Soon enough we arrived at the church! SOOO ADORABLE!

It was right across the street from Yosemite Falls and El Capitan rock.

I had never been to Yosemite so this was such an awesome experience.

It’s wedding time!

The ceremony was so sweet and so personal. You could feel the love in the room. I love how they customized their vows to fit who they are. I definitely teared up at times. One of my favorite lines from Brian’s vows: (summarized) “You’ve given me so much love, that I will spend the rest of my life giving it back to you.” Ah, so perfect.

As they walked out of the church, they rang the church bells. So cool!

I was so excited that we had some time after to take more pictures outside.

These are some of Irving’s high school friends! They are going to have some AWESOME wedding photos. I can’t wait to see them all!

In the Spring, Yosemite Falls is supposed to be stunning. It’s all dried up for the summer now, but I had to imagine what it looked like…

Good, that’s better! Looks almost like the real thing!

The reception was back at the Wawona Hotel, so we climbed back on the bus for the trip back. Our driver stopped at a vista point so we could get a glimpse of Half Dome and the rest of Yosemite Valley. It’s no wonder Ansel Adams took so many photos here. It’s stunning!

The reception was outside on the lawn of the Wawona. I was worried about the 90*+ heat that we had been having, but it actually cooled off really nice just before dinner.

And guess what I had?! My FIRST glass of wine in 11 months!!! (My last alcoholic beverage was actually in Salzburg, Austria on our trip last year!)

We snuck the baby over to our table for a few minutes because I kind of missed her! She made a polite appearance before she went back to Grandma for the night.

Such a fun night and a great way to experience Yosemite. Wishing Brian and Victoria a lifetime of happiness and love. We were honored to share their special day with them.

Congrats, Guys!
