11 Months and 1 Week May 16, 2013

Filed under: Baby — Kelocity @ 4:02 am

Maybe I’m late on writing my monthly post because I was on vacation last week…. or maybe I’m just trying to stretch it out because I am in COMPLETE denial that my baby girl is going to be ONE in three weeks?! Oh man, I can’t even think about that yet. Let’s focus on month 11 in the meantime.

What a HUGE milestone month it has been! It’s like Adele literally came out of her baby shell! I’ll find out for sure in a few weeks, but I think she grew a couple of inches. She’s bursting with babble and beginning to walk! And her personality has been showing through in ways we hadn’t seen before. Irving and I felt so fortunate to be in Hawaii with Adele last week so we could be with her 24/7. There were so many things that she did that we were happy we got to witness and experience with her.

STANDING
Adele is standing all the time now. She can pull up to standing by herself from a sitting position, but she’ll only do it for a few seconds at a time. She’s also cruising around the furniture now! All of a sudden it just started happening! I really think she’ll be walking by her 1st birthday. I’m not rushing anything, but that’s just my guess.

TOYS
She still LOVES books. She loves looking at the pictures and pointing to things. She can point out the kitties, birdies and babies if you ask her to. She’s also obsessed with turning pages. In fact, she’s pretty enthralled with opening and closing anything really. She closes the box of wipes like it’s her job. She also loves to shut bedroom doors and dresser drawers….. and sometimes she shuts her fingers IN the drawers, which hasn’t been fun. Silly girl.

FOOD
We’re on our LAST canister of formula! Still have to confirm that with the doctor, but I’m planning on starting her on whole milk by her 1st birthday. She’s only drinking about 15oz a day, sometimes less. She’s eating a lot of real table food, whatever we’re eating, really.

SLEEP
Little Adele, you sure do love your sleep. Still going strong on the 13 hours of straight sleep a night. It is seriously impressive. We have to literally wake you up at 8:30am sometimes so I can get to work on time! Because of all the sleep you get at night, you sometimes don’t even take a nap during the day. But most days, you just take one 1-hour nap in the afternoon and that seems to be enough for you.

PERSONALITY
I see glimpses of “Toddler Adele” now. When you don’t get your way, you get spunky. You screech and give me the angry eye. You arch your back and try to squirm away. You’re very persistent when you want something, but then you go right back to giggle and smiling moments later. You look me right in the eye when you know you’re doing something you shouldn’t be. Sassy.

SPEECH
You’re starting to talk! Actual words! Besides the usual “Mama”, “Dada” and “Baba” (Bottle), you’re now saying a few other distinguishable things! You say “Tank Ya” (Thank you) when someone hands you something. And if we say it, you’ll put an object in our hands. You also understand and say “Nana” (Banana) when you have breakfast! My favorite though is “Uh Oh”. You’ll throw something overboard and then say “Uh Ohhhh”. I keep telling you that it’s not Uh Oh if you do it on purpose, but you think it’s funny anyways.

OTHER THINGS
-When you hear “Patty Cake”, you start excitedly clapping your hands together
-You had a growth spurt this month and (I think) grew a couple of inches. You went through a phase for a few days where you bumped your nighttime sleep up to 15 hours and then napped 2+ hours twice a day. After that, things went back to normal.
-You like to steal toys. You want whatever someone else is playing with. Always. But you also don’t mind sharing when someone steals your toys back!

Your birthday is right around the corner now, and boy will it be a reason to celebrate. You’re a beautiful little girl and I love you so, so much.

Oh my god, 15 hours a night? I can’t even imagine! lol Though I’m not sure I’d want to trade in my 3 hours of nap time for a 13 hour night… I’m pretty sure if my boys didn’t nap well I would never shower, eat or clean anything!

She sounds like an amazing talker! Much farther along than my two 17 month olds 🙂

Yea, it’s so different since I’m not home with her during the day. But I can imagine a 3-hour break is crucial if I was a SAHM!
