Irving and I are planning a vacation to Cairo and Dubai! We are getting really, really excited but still a little unsure of what to expect.

Yesterday, we went to a cute little indie movie theater in Pasadena to see the film Cairo Time.

It was a little slow and predictable, but it was really a beautiful film. It was so simple, yet deep and passionate and I totally let myself fall inside. The film made Cairo feel romantic and exciting! So foreign and rustic, yet comfortable and real. In parts, it looked like any other European city. Irving and I giggled through parts because we just can’t believe we’re going!

The fashion in the film was just incredible. I think we were both blown away at the beauty of the clothes. They were soft and flowing against the grainy-ness of the Egyptian dessert.

I was in love with this dress:

And Irving agreed that this guy’s suit was the most amazing suit we’ve ever seen…

And there’s one scene with an arabic wedding and the girl’s wedding dress was just GORGEOUS! I know nothing about fashion, but I know a good dress when I see one. 🙂

[note to self: get pretty clothes for our trip to the middle east!]

Needless to say, after the movie, our minds were spinning with excitement. We headed straight for a travel bookstore to do some more research!

Can’t wait!

Last night was girl’s night at the movies! Janet, Erika and I went to see “Eat, Pray, Love” and it was incredible. I haven’t read the book yet and really didn’t know what to expect. I heard it got bad reviews, but everyone was telling me that since I have been to Italy I “have to go see it”. And I have to say, I was impressed.

I also really adored Julia Robert’s hair. In every scene it was just beautiful. I was actually distracted by it at times. She’s such a great actress, it’s refreshing watching her.

I loved how it was really four mini movies in one. Each location she visited was it’s own self-contained story with life lessons, comedy and really really good food. Read: lots of pasta. I think I drooled when I saw all of this!

All those Italian scenes made my heart flutter. Some of them literally took my breath away and I realized how much I missed Italy.

I ❤ Italy.

[I promise to get some more Italy pictures on the blog soon –Stay Tuned!!]

I think I need to see the movie again, or at least read the book, because there were so many amazing quotes in there that I wish I remembered. But I especially liked all the ones about ‘balance’ and finding inner peace. Ya’ll know how I’m always trying to find that balance (aren’t we all?) The quote that stuck out most in my mind was something along the lines of this: “Finding balance means loving yourself more than anyone else can.” How true it is…

Hope you guys are loving my influx of posts lately. Lots going on! I love the summer!

Sunday morning, Erika and Timmy and I decided to be productive and go learn something. So we headed to the California Science Center. They totally gear the exhibits towards children, but we totally loved it! Why is it so much fun to learn stuff?

The atrium is so pretty!

We went to see the Ecosystems exhibit. We could have spent all day in just that one section!

Each room was a different stage of life.

If I were a 10 year old boy, my favorite would be the Rot Room!!! It was so gross, yet exciting! hahaha

We loved the aquarium section outside. (PS. how awesome is it that you can have exhibits outside? I love LA)!

Here, you had to pretend you were a fish trying to grab food. HAHA
Erika and Timmy almost got some!

In the desert room, you could see how warm your body is compared to the rest of the room. HEE HEE. We were like little kids.

After a fun educational morning, we stopped and got some lunch at a Mexican Restaurant called Chano’s. If you haven’t been there yet, you have to go. Mmm. We even got fresh squeezed watermelon juice!!! Wow!

Later on, we headed up to Universal Citywalk to see Inception.

I really liked the movie. It was really, really good. It had a few holes in it, but it was entertaining and the story was good. Not Leonardo DiCaprio’s finest (in my opinion), but a good flix for summer.
