A runner with an appetite for adventure!

LA Galaxy with J&J May 9, 2011

Saturday night, we took Jake and Janie to an LA Galaxy game (sort of a late Christmas gift!) We got to the stadium really early and had fun walking around before the action started.

Instead of watching the game from our seats, we had reservations at the Stadium Club!

They had a great buffet and the food was amazing. Everything was fresh and tasted homemade.

LA Galaxy (6)

Our seats were pretty good too. A neat perspective on the game.
LA Galaxy (7)

Irving loved it. He’s a huge soccer fan, remember?
LA Galaxy (5)

Rumor has it that Leonardo DiCaprio was at the game too. They showed him on the big monitor, so I whipped my binoculars out (not kidding) and tried to find him, but I guess he was hiding.
LA Galaxy (8)

The game ended at 1-1.
LA Galaxy (10)

Hi David Beckham, you looked dapper at the Royal Wedding!

In other news from the weekend, we saw Jay Leno on Saturday at Menchies! He pulled up in an old Bentley and parked right next to me!

He said hi, got his ice cream and left. Just a typical Saturday living in LA. We were with Erika and Timmy and Jake and Janie too, it was fun to see a celeb so up close and personal.

Yesterday, we had brunch at Porto’s in Burbank (so good!) We sat outside and dined al fresco. It was so relaxing and nice.

Yesterday, we both felt a little blah. Just not motivated, a little sluggish and sad. Clearly, we were lacking endorphins. So we laced up our sneakers, gave ourselves a pep talk, and headed out for a four mile walk. Muuuuuch better. The fresh air and exercise were just what we needed to end a great weekend on a high note.

Happy Monday!

Health Magazine’s Girls Night Out May 6, 2011

Every year, Health Magazine hosts a ‘Girls Night Out’. It is an event featuring massages, cocktails and products just for women. The night ends with an advanced screening of the newest chick flick coming to theaters. This was my EIGHTH time attending Girls Night Out (wow, have I really been out in LA that long?) and every time it’s been an awesome night.

When I got there, it really wasn’t very crowded. I looked for some of my friends, but since it starts so early, many of them couldn’t make it.
IMG_5719

Girls Night Out became Girl Night Out. It’s much more fun with friends, but I made the best of it.
IMG_5724

I jumped right into the massage line and didn’t have to wait at all. It was only ten minutes, but it felt so good! That’s definitely my favorite part!
IMG_5725

Then I hopped around to the sponsors and scored a few products. Seattle’s Best Coffee had sample packs of all their blends. We’re running out of K-Cups at home, so I’m really excited about this!

IMG_5721

I also got some Vitamins and a Pedometer from Vitafusion. And a gym towel from Asics.
IMG_5727

I really like Asics and was hoping to win the giftcard for some new shoes, but it wasn’t my lucky night.

They had an open bar with a signature cocktail, but I grabbed a Sparkling Water instead.
IMG_5728

I waited and waited and waited for some food (they had free appetizers, but you had to order them, and apparently they only had one cook back there? I finally gave up after a half hour or so and decided I didn’t really need potato skins anyways.

But I did use my voucher for free popcorn and drink. Popcorn counts as dinner, right?
IMG_5729

The movie was Something Borrowed, which I LOVED!
somethingborrowedmovie.warnerbros

It was funny and cute and entertaining. Very well cast and the story is excellent. It didn’t feel like your typical chick flick. It was REALLY good and I highly recommend it.

Ginnifer Goodwin carries the movie. She’s an amazing actress. I loved her in Big Love but this is just such a great role for her.

And Colin Egglesfield —well, let’s just say he’s easy on the eyes.

If anyone wants to see it, I’d definitely go again!

She Runs LA: A Blogger’s Night Out April 29, 2011

Last night, hoards of girls headed down to the Nokia Theater in downtown Los Angeles to for a Girl’s Night Out hosted by Nike+! Everyone had to run a 10k race on their own, and then join Nike for the post-race celebration.

My friend, Tessa, and I took the metro downtown (Hooray for being Green! — and too cheap to pay for parking down there!) I love the whole LA Live center downtown. They did an amazing job with it. It’s so pretty and fun.
IMG_5605

My tank got mailed to me, but we waited for Tessa to grab hers. They are adorable. One of the best race shirts I’ve ever got.
IMG_5606

This event was exciting for me, because I attended as ‘Press’! We even got credentials! This is very exciting in the blogging world (at least for a newbie like me!)

IMG_5608

VIPs right here!

IMG_5609

We rocked the pink carpet!
Tessa, me, Sarah (Two Boo‘s sister!), Katherine, Amanda and Kaitlin!

Inside was all lit up pink too! It screamed ‘Girl Power’!
IMG_5614

The pre-concert party was three floors of massages, hair styling, dance music and Nike Demos. The lines for the massages were way too long and crowded, but I did score some Body Butter from Bliss Spa. I ❤ Bliss!

IMG_5618

I had full intentions to change into my black heels for the event…. but my sketchers were just so comfy, I kept them on all night. No Regrets.
IMG_5624

Nike had some of their new products out to see.
IMG_5619

The highlight for me was seeing their new GPS watch for runners. I bought a garmin GPS watch back in 2005 and I love it. It tells me the exact route I ran, the elevation and a bunch of other great stats that the Nike+ couldn’t provide. But now they have this GPS one and it looks pretty awesome. I haven’t looked into all the features it has, but I’d definitely be interested in trying it out.

IMG_5620

It was pretty crowded inside, I really wish they had some snacks to munch on since everyone came straight from work. They did have some drinks, but ran out before I got the chance to snag one.

We had fun chatting, people watching and showing off our media badges.
IMG_5622

The lovely Kaitlin and Katherine!
IMG_5629

Look who else we ran into! Healthy Coconut!  || And Tessa took advantage of the Paul Mitchell hair styling. Pretty curls!
IMG_5632IMG_5630

It’s always a fun time with these ladies. Such a great group!

Then we headed into the Nokia Theater for the main event. It was supposed to be the Winner’s of America’s Best Dance Crew and then a concert by Mike Posner. The stage did look really great.

IMG_5637

But we didn’t stay for the show. We were starving!!
IMG_5642

And the yard house is known for BEER! Check out all the kegs!
IMG_5640

I asked for the lightest thing they had on tap…. which was the Wyder’s Pear Cider. It was so clear it almost looked like water. It was sweet, crisp and delicious! It actually tasted like a Chardonnay.
IMG_5643

I ordered the Grilled Cheese with Tomato Bisque. Oh. My. Gosh. I have to say this was probably the best grilled cheese I’ve EVER had. And I eat a lot of grilled cheese. Ohhh, the tomatoes! The cheese oozing out… I’m already craving another one! ((I will post the picture when I get home, promise!))

Such a fun night out with a great group of girls (And some other bloggers too, not pictured!)
photo5

When we left the event, we all got goodie bags too! It came in an awesome reusable tote and included lip balm, a Luna bar, Pop Chips and some Paul Mitchell samples.

Thanks Nike, for inviting me (and my readers). I hope in future years they can better manage the crowds and provide some snacks. Although I didn’t pay to enter the virtual race or attend the party, most people paid $40 to get in. I’d probably attend again though, just plan my night a little better. I love that they are celebrating women runners. It was a great evening downtown with some awesome girls.

Lights, Camera…. Desperate Housewives! April 6, 2011

My friend Erika called me at 9 o’clock tonight to tell me they were filming something in the area. I was already in my pajamas (I pretty much change into sweats before I even eat dinner on most nights!) But I quickly changed and headed out the the door to go see. 2011-04-06_21-27-13_71

It ended up being Desperate Housewives! I watched every single episode since the pilot in 2004, but I stopped watching a few months ago. But Irving and I were actually huge fans of the show. I still get excited to hear that they’re filming nearby though. I love big movie sets and production trucks. It’s so exciting and for us, it never gets old.
2011-04-06_21-29-21_443

Tonight, they were filming a scene with Bree (Marcia Cross) and I recognized her right away. She’s in the car, see her?

2011-04-06_21-32-38_818

Those pictures were the best I could do with a Smart Phone (next time I have to remember a real camera!)

In other news, I had myself some Menchies today (Cake batter Ice Cream with Cookie Dough pieces on top.) Don’t judge.

Hollywood’s Biggest Night! February 27, 2011

What did you guys think of the Oscars? I was entertained… but a bit confused at times. I think Melissa Leo was drunk… very strange speech. And Anne Hathaway’s dresses were just… BAD! Who’s with me?
IMG_3897

I watched the Oscars with my friend Erica and it was awesome. She’s got lots of film knowledge and she fills me in on the important info. She is also an amazing cook, and she whipped up such a great (Oscar-worthy) meal! Mashed Sweet Potatoes, Lemon Chicken and a Red Quinoa salad with raisins, cinnamon and pears. It was delicious. I contributed the colored cauliflower. I love colorful meals like this!
IMG_3895

I only saw two of the nominated “Best Picture” films (Social Network and King’s Speech), so I guessed on most of the categories. I got 11 out of 24 right though!
IMG_3896

For dessert, I made a new recipe. I hooked the laptop up to the tv in the kitchen to search for good dessert ideas. **
IMG_3893

I found these Peanut Butter Chocolate Sandwich Cookies, that ended up being pretty good.
IMG_3894

Served along side some Jelly Belly Beans (I have a million of them, remember?)
IMG_3898

The show was good, the food was great, and the company was unrivaled. Thanks for a great night, Erica!

**Remember when Irving stole moved our TV off our bedroom wall to put it in the kitchen? Well we finally got a new one that should be installed tomorrow. Can’t wait to watch Netflix in bed again!
