Last night was the taping of ‘CNN Heroes’. It’s a show about real life heroes that will air on Thanksgiving on CNN.

We got tickets to the event, and it was a great excuse to get dressed up for a night on the town!

We were SO excited that Erika and Timmy came with us too!

It was hosted by Anderson Cooper!

Right at the beginning of the show, all 33 Chilean Miners and their 5 rescuers came out on stage!

Jon Bon Jovi played a song in the show too! (So did Sugarland and John Legend)

All of the nominees for CNN’s Hero of the Year are so deserving and amazing.

After the show, we got to go the After Party. They had amazing food and an open bar.

But the highlight… Meeting the Chilean Miners!
This guy was so excited to be in Los Angeles. He was impressed by how long the roads are here. ha!

Did I ever tell you about the time that Irving and I drove down to Venice Beach to see the ‘Virgin Mary Grilled Cheese’?
IMG_1307

Yea funny story actually. Back in 2005 (before we had real jobs), we heard the grilled cheese was on display. And there it was!
IMG_1306

I have to say, it actually does look like a woman. My favorite part is the bite taken out of the side. haha

And then Andy Dick walked by….

Yea, that was a weird day.

Halloween Horror Nights October 3, 2010

Every year we try to go to Universal Studio’s Halloween Horror Nights. It’s always a fun night (even though I’m usually scared the entire time we’re there!)

I started the night off right this time with a little of this:

Gotta do what you gotta do!

Before the park opened, our group headed to Saddle Ranch for dinner.

Irving and I shared this (with extra cherries!)

(It reminded us of our Blue Lagoon Cocktail at our wedding!)

Anyways, after dinner, it was time to head into the park!

The scene was set as soon as we walked in! Freddy!!
IMG_6256

Our first haunted house was the new 3D one. That means sexy glasses:

The wait times weren’t too bad at first, but then they started to get a little ridiculous!
IMG_6279

But it was fun chatting and hanging out in line.

Look, it’s an Erika/Erica Sandwich!
IMG_6261

Gotta love those insanely long Universal escalators! Here’s the whole group!
IMG_6262

It’s crazy how they transform the park to be haunted at night. A lot of the day time stuff gets covered up. We thought this sign was really funny…’Nightmare on Elm Street…Presented in Ogre Vision”. haha They put the haunted house behind Shrek 3D. haha

And then there’s this…
IMG_6265

We were in the park til 1:30a so by that time, everything seemed funny. 🙂

After a few more haunted houses, we finally made it to the “Terror Tram”. The theme this year was ‘Chucky’.
IMG_6266

The tram drops you off and you get to walk through the backlot of the studio. This year, the walking path was SO COOL. You go from ‘Whoville’ through the ‘Bates Mote’l’. Very cool. They’ve never done that before.

Before we left, we stopped for one more haunted house… the House of Horrors:

That one wasn’t too scary, but then again, by 1:30a, I was over it.

It was such a fun night. It’s fun to be scared once in a while. Makes you feel like a kid again. 🙂

2 concerts in 2 nights! October 2, 2010

I’m getting too old for this!

On Thursday, we had tickets to see Train at the Greek Theater in Hollywood. It’s one of our favorite bands, so we were very excited to see them in such a small venue.

Before the show, we had dinner at Mexico City and it was amazing. Mexican food is always good, right?

When we got to the theater, we found out that they had really undersold the show and half the venue was empty. So they reseated everyone into better seats.

See all the empty seats!

It worked out though, we were really close to the stage. It was a short set, but a good show.

(with a crappy picture…)

And last night, we headed to the Ford Theater to see Counting Crows. There were only 800 tickets sold to that show! They premiered the new movie Freeloaders (which Adam Duritz produced). It was hilarious.

Then after the movie, Counting Crows played an hour set. It was awesome!

Two concerts in two nights. Whew! We still got it!

So remember way back when when I went to the Biggest Loser Taping?

Just kidding, you wouldn’t be able to see me unless you were looking for it. lol
And I kind of got in this shot…

There! Right next to my friend Stephanie!
I haven’t watched the whole episode yet, but I’m glad the show is back!

PS… while scanning through the show quickly, I saw this commercial!!

OH MY GOSH!!! ALPHIE!!!!

He got a makeover, but still the same toy I used to love when I was little.  SO COOL!
