Terrible, Horrible, Very Bad Day February 5, 2011

Filed under: Uncategorized — Kelocity @ 6:34 pm

Remember that book Alexander and the Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day? Well today, I might as well have been Alexander.

For reasons I don’t care to discuss on the blog, it was a bad day that only got worse as the hours ticked by. I think I managed to piss off six or seven people in a span of four hours. That’s got to be a record. I wouldn’t want to be friends with me either with this kind of attitude. I’m emotionally, mentally and physically drained.

Oh, did I mention I’m running a half marathon in the morning? I’m not properly hydrated, fueled or mentally prepared to run this race. If I even make it to the start, it will be a miracle. Part of me wants to cancel all together and sleep the day away. But maybe a challenging run is exactly what I need to get over this weekend. I could use the boost of endorphins.

I don’t know if I have everything. What am I missing?
I get my timing chip and bib in the morning and my camera and Ipod are still charging.

At least I remembered my Fuel Belt bottles this time.

Wish me luck (I think I’m gonna need it).

My mom just sent me a picture so I could get a perspective on just how much snow they got near Boston. Little Gizmo won’t see the front lawn again til June!

Last night, Irving and I headed downtown to party with Amazing Race’s Phil Keoghan and some of the contestants on the show!

Phil rode his bike 3,000 miles across America to combat a midlife crisis and to raise money for the MS Foundation. And he made a movie about it along the way. The film is called ‘The Ride’. Tonight was the world premiere!

To celebrate, some Amazing Race alumni were there to kick off the press tour. Remember these guys!! It’s Kynt and Vixen!

They were on season 12 and will also be on the new season that starts up next week.

They let me hold one of the actual clue envelopes from the show!!

Since this was the premiere of the movie, they pulled out all the stops. I mean Tom Bergeron was there! Tom and I are from the same town.

I met him years ago at my local community access tv station! I wanted to talk to him and say hi, but he was whisked away quickly. Oh well.

Phil was so nice, he took pictures and chatted with all his fans.

I was so excited to meet Nat too! Nat and Kat won the past season of AR!

We saw her during the Rose Parade this year too!

The movie was so good. It was funny, entertaining and inspiring. Phil rode most of the way with his friend Ben. He sat behind us during the screening, which was fun.

We got little goodie bags too that contained some info on the MS Foundation and some of Phil’s new energy bars.

We kept saying how awesome it is that we keep finding these fun events. I keep forgetting we live here and these things are right at our fingertips. A movie isn’t just a movie anymore when you live in film-making country.

Tonight, Irving and I ventured to LA Live downtown for a fun Hollywood event. We took the subway (yes, LA has a subway!)

Before the event, we walked around a little bit. Los Angeles is currently trying to get the NFL to bring a football team back to the city. They have a location and an advertising sponsor, but no team yet. But they’re not deterred, they are pushing for ‘Farmers Field’ to host some football games soon!

Work it, Girl! Check out that relfective action going on there!

Food, Fotos, Friends

Yesterday, I was pretty much starving all day. I walked 7 miles throughout the day. And I’m trying to eat healthy and balanced, but clearly I wasn’t eating enough. I was tired, dizzy and cranky. This girl needs more carbs in her life! You just can’t win sometimes. Sometimes, you have to listen to your body. While I cooked, I made my own seltzer water using my lovely Soda Stream machine!

Just a few seconds later, I had some crisp sparking H2O!

For dinner, I tried Roni’s Crescent Roll Pizza Casserole recipe. Not to toot my own horn, but this stuff was GOOOOD! It was pretty easy to make too. And had lots of veggies in it.

The hardest part was opening up the crescent roll cans. I’m so afraid of that ‘popping’ sound it makes! Scary!

But after that, it was smooth sailing! It came out perfect!

I dined with my friend Erica and we chatted about blogs and photography. She’s a really good photographer, so I picked her brain about a few things. We spent the rest of the night experimenting with settings. We have the same camera, so it was really helpful!

I’m excited to start using this camera instead of my point and shoot now. Look out world, here I come!

We went for a walk and did some experimenting with long exposure. I have some more learning to do, but Erica got this shot. You’d never know it was 10pm at night!

I walked before work today and took the bus to work! Look at me being all healthy and green. It’s something I’d like to do at least once a week.
