I hate Summer… August 24, 2010

Filed under: Los Angeles — Kelocity @ 1:56 pm

I’m one of those weirdos who hates the hot weather. I just hate, hate HATE it! I much prefer the weather to be in the 60s… then I’m a happy camper.

This is just gross…

103*???? EW!!! (Side note, Irving is playing golf in Simi Valley today… and it’s about 110 there! He’s under strict orders to drink gatorade and slather on the sunscreen. I personally think he’s insane).

In other news…. 409 since my wedding?!?! I remember when that thing said 200 days until the wedding. Where does the time go?!

A morning Walk at the LA Zoo! August 23, 2010

Yesterday, I got up to run/walk with the Los Angeles Racers at the LA Zoo inside Griffith Park. It was a gorgeous morning and we were happy to be out before it got too hot out.

I did a 5.5 mile walk chatting with my friend Sharon. It was so fun. She just got back from Italy and Greece, so we had lots to talk about. šŸ™‚

We had a big group today! It was awesome!

Sporting the LA Racers logo!

After we were done, we headed to Bea Bea’s for breakfast. At first, I was not too excited about it. When they first opened, Irving and I were less than impressed with the prices. It’s not cheap… and we were turned off by that.

But I have to say, the food was pretty amazing and definitely worth it.

Everybody got something that looked amazing (there was a lot of sharing!)

I ordered the S’Mores Pancakes…. and it was just as amazing as it sounds!!!

Butermilk pancakes with marshmallows, chocolate chips (that melted!) and Graham Crackers!!!

I ate about half of this and brought the rest home.

Then we celebrated all the August Birthdays again! I absolutely could not fit even one bite of this crepe in my stomach, but it looked amazing!

Yesterday afternoon, the Scrapbook Creation Station was open again in my house! Sharon and Autumn came over for a few hours and we were scrapbooking machines!!!!

Pictures of the pages will come soon! It’s almost done!!

Be still my heart… August 21, 2010

Last night was girl’s night at the movies! Janet, Erika and I went to see ā€œEat, Pray, Loveā€ and it was incredible. I haven’t read the book yet and really didn’t know what to expect. I heard it got bad reviews, but everyone was telling me that since I have been to Italy I ā€œhave to go see itā€. And I have to say, I was impressed.

I also really adored Julia Robert’s hair. In every scene it was just beautiful. I was actually distracted by it at times. She’s such a great actress, it’s refreshing watching her.

I loved how it was really four mini movies in one. Each location she visited was it’s own self-contained story with life lessons, comedy and really really good food. Read: lots of pasta. I think I drooled when I saw all of this!
Spaghetti with Italian Meatballs in Tomato Sauce

All those Italian scenes made my heart flutter. Some of them literally took my breath away and I realized how much I missed Italy.

I ā¤ Italy.

[I promise to get some more Italy pictures on the blog soon –Stay Tuned!!]

I think I need to see the movie again, or at least read the book, because there were so many amazing quotes in there that I wish I remembered. But I especially liked all the ones about ā€˜balance’ and finding inner peace. Ya’ll know how I’m always trying to find that balance (aren’t we all?) The quote that stuck out most in my mind was something along the lines of this: ā€œFinding balance means loving yourself more than anyone else can.ā€ How true it is…

Trader Joes just started bringing Tater Tots into the store, so naturally we bought a bag. We weren’t quite sure what we were going to use them for… until Irving brought home a bag of Harris Ranch Burgers!

Beef!

We got some Cabot Cheese (our new love since we went to the factory!)
And cut up some Tomatoes…

Irving was out of town last week and at first, I was happy to have the house to myself (I only made the bed twice all week, shhh!) But by Friday, I couldn’t wait to see his smilin’ face. I mean come on, who wouldn’t miss this guy:

When I came home from work yesterday, he had just walked through the door. We immediately went out and ordered a pizza to take back. I think we were both too hungry for our own good and we ate the WHOLE pizza minus ONE slice. I think we both decided not to eat the last slice just to say we didn’t really eat a whole Xtra Large Pizza in one swoop. HAHA

But regardless, I’m happy to have him home. He even came armed with PRESENTS from Harris Ranch! Aside from the amazing burgers he brought home for dinner tonight, he brought me my FAVORITE parfait cup!

Chocolate Cake, Vanilla Pudding, Strawberries, Chocolate Sauce, Whipped Cream and Walnuts. Mmmm!

He even tied a bow around it so it looked even prettier (as if you need do anything to make chocolate and whipped cream look prettier, right?)

But that’s not ALL…check this out!

It’s a Candy Corn flavored Lolli-pop!!!! I LOVE CANDY CORN!!!! What a guy.

Missed you babe, welcome back!!!

In other news, I wanted to share the amazing birthday card that my sister Laurie sent me this week!

But first the back story… when we were little, every winter, my family would have a ā€œBeach Partyā€ in the living room. When it was super cold outside, we’d crank up the heat, get into our bathing suits, lay on our beach towels and eat a picnic on the floor with paper plates. It was pretty epic.

Exhibit B:

Inner tubes and flip flops required.

So fast forward to this week, I almost died when I saw this card in the mail from my sister:
