It rained in LA today, and I loved every minute of it. We ran around and did a bunch of errands and then I cozied up on the couch and finished reading Meb’s book. I love reading about running, it inspires me. I can not people humans can run 4-minute miles. It boggles my mind. I recommend the book to runners, especially anyone who has done New York or Boston.

We decided to end the weekend with a bang and head to CityWalk for dinner tonight.

Our dinner companions tonight were the fabulous Erika and Timmy. We both bought a coupon a while back for Samba and we have been dying to try it. It’s always fun to play ‘tourist’ for a night and walk around CityWalk.

Samba is tucked in the back, behind the Hard Rock Café.
IMG_3309

It’s a Brazilian Steakhouse served buffet style. There are two parts, first, the unlimited salad bar, and second, fresh meat shaved off of a spit right onto your plate. But first… The Salad Bar!
IMG_3316

They had SO many amazing side dishes.
IMG_3313

IMG_3312

Lots of different kinds of veggies, salads, sides and bread! Oh man, the bread had cheese baked into it. DELICIOUS!
IMG_3314

The staff walks around with all different types of meat, and if you want it, you put this card on the green side, and if you don’t, you flip it over to red.
IMG_3310

They had lamb, beef, chicken, steak, tri-tip all cooked with a different spice or seasoning. My favorite was the bacon-wrapped chicken. MMm!
IMG_3315

The décor was festive and modern. It was swanky yet casual. Very nice.
IMG_3311

In the middle of the meal, these Brazilian dancers came out and danced for a while. It was fun entertainment, I felt like I was at the Rio in Las Vegas.

IMG_3318

We ate SO much, it was a delicious meal. We went for a mile walk after dinner, I definitely needed that to digest. We’re lucky to have such great friends close by to enjoy these adventures with.

I’m off to watch the new Hallmark Hall of Fame movie with Betty White! Have a great week!

After our exciting workout with Kathy Kaehler this morning, a few bloggers met at the Sagebrush Cantina for lunch!
IMG_3271

I didn’t feel like we worked out all that hard, but I was starving by the time we got there (and it was only 11:30am!)
IMG_3270

Some awesome conversation ensued. Topics ranged from running, to FoodBuzz, to blog hosting. It was such a great group and I was honored to dine with them.
IMG_3273

Andy, the other ‘Boo’ of Two Boos who Eat joined us for lunch too!
IMG_3272

I soaked up some Vitamin D while I ate my amazing BLTA sandwich (Man, I love Avocado!) It was a fun, relaxing lunch.
It was 75* and sunny over here in LA today.

After Lunch, Sarah (SkinnyRunner) and I headed to Crumbs across the street!
IMG_3274

Man oh man, so many choices! They all looked amazing.
IMG_3275

I decided on the ‘Half-Baked’ flavor, which was a marble cake, buttercream frosting, and pieces of brownies and cookies on top!
IMG_3276

Once home, I split my prized possession with Irving.  Marriage is about compromise, right?
IMG_3278

When I cut it open, I realized they put icing all the way in the middle (Heaven!) I swear, someday I’m going to open up a Cupcake shop that only sells the tops of cupcakes (It’s all about the frosting, people!)
IMG_3277

The rest of the afternoon was spent cleaning up the place, cooking dinner, and hanging out in my jammies. Hopefully we’ll start a movie soon and call it a night. Til tomorrow!

Ringing in the New Year with the Rose Parade! January 2, 2011

Living in LA means lots of fun opportunities. We are so lucky to be surrounded by so many exciting things. This year, we were fortunate to score a bunch of free tickets to the Rose Parade (with amazing seats!) We woke up at 4:15am, gathered our friends, and braved the 28* weather to the parade side lines in Pasadena!

IMG_2743

We love taking the metro whenever we can (we’re probably some of the few residents who do!)
IMG_2744

The sun was just starting to rise when we got off the train, and we followed the crowds down Colorado Blvd.
IMG_2745

We were bundled up warm! You’d never know this was southern California!
IMG_2747

IMG_2746

Ashley, Hudson and her mom made it out too!! Hudson’s first parade!
IMG_2748

Before we knew it, the parade was ready to start!
IMG_2752

Check out this Stealth Fighter that flew overhead!
IMG_2753

Right at the very beginning, we saw the Amazing Race winners!! I’m a huge fan!
They had to decorate part of float during the season finale this year!!!! So exciting! I almost didn’t recognize them, but I knew they looked familiar! Glad I snapped a picture!
IMG_2755

The Grand Marshal this year was Paula Deen!
IMG_2757

It’s amazing that all these floats are 100% decorated with flowers or living materials.

IMG_2760

IMG_2759

The bands were great, lots of fun music and dancing!
IMG_2762

IMG_2763

IMG_2777

The Queen and Princesses of the Rose Court!

IMG_2770

The two teams in the Rose Bowl football game this year were Wisconsin and Texas Christian. They each had a float and the fans went wild!
IMG_2774

IMG_2783

So many cool themes this year!
IMG_2790

IMG_2793

IMG_2796

Hudson loved the parade!! He’s such a good boy!

IMG_2781

LOOK!!! An Uno Float!! (You all know how much we love game night!)
IMG_2801

At one point, I think one of the floats broke down! Good thing for AAA!
IMG_2797

This was a band from New Hampshire! New England, represent!
IMG_2805

IMG_2808

Look who it is!
IMG_2811

Pacman!
IMG_2810

Some of the hosts from HGTV’s Dream Home show!
IMG_2817

This float was for 9/11. The fire hydrant was from ground zero and was the only thing on any of the floats to not be made of flowers.

Click here for more shots of the amazing floats!

I have a feeling 2011 is going to be a great year!

Game Night! Bezzerwizzer! December 31, 2010

Last night, our friends Ashley and JR had a bunch of friends over for a game night. They had an amazing spread of food (Red Velvet cupcakes, homemade rice krispies treats, carmel corn, veggies, nuts… and my favorite: chips and dip!! Mmmm!!!)

Little Hudson is getting so big. He’s just adorable!
IMG_2733

He watched as we played an intense game of Bezzerwizzer. It’s a trivia strategy game that Erika and Timmy brought over.
IMG_2738

We had an amazing night with our friends (new and old!)

The boys!
IMG_2740

The girls (Even abby!)

Thanks for a fun night!

One for you…One for Me! December 15, 2010

I definitely shopped myself out this year for the holidays. I had a list and I fiercely plowed through it bouncing from store to store at each opportunity. I have to say, I’m a little burnt out now. It’s easy to forget what the holidays are really all about sometimes.

And I’m totally guilty of buying myself a couple of treats on some of my excursions. (I never really do that!) This week, I got myself a new sweater, some cozy slippers…

IMG_2457

And this sweet Christmas Card tree (Irving’s request).
IMG_2461

I had the ‘one for you, one for me’ syndrome this year!

IMG_2464 IMG_2468

But now, I’m SUPER excited to go home for Christmas and see my family and my East Coast friends!

IMG_2467

Tonight, I had a few girls over to scrapbook with me. I was really excited because Girl’s Night In is always a blast. The scrapbook paper, stickers and scissors came out and before we knew it, four of us were chatting away cutting, cropping and creating!

IMG_2466

But I just wasn’t feeling inspired tonight. Maybe I was just a wee bit tired, but mostly, I was frustrated that I couldn’t find the photos and pieces I wanted to work with tonight. I think I need to reorganize and clean up my craft closet a little bit. I’ll make that a New Year’s resolution.

And I promise, I will definitely share my Wedding Album when it’s complete. It’s |this close| to being done!

Christmas is almost a week away!!! Wow, that really snuck up on me this year!
