There are few things in the world more beautiful than a sunset at Buddha Point. It’s a must-see when you’re in Hawaii. It did not disappoint. Adele was pretty tired, but she got a second wind when she realized it was a special moment to experience.

I present you: The Buddha Point Sunset in Pictures:

There it goes! Just beautiful. We took a second to celebrate our little family as the sun dipped below the earth. How lucky we are to have each other and to share that moment together. So incredibly lucky.

The Beach: Swimming in A Bay May 13, 2013

The closest beach to our hotel was ‘A Bay’, which is located right on the property of the Waikoloa Marriott. We know that nearby Hapuna Beach is more beautiful, secluded and swim friendly, but we didn’t really feel like schlepping all our stuff and an 11-month old all the way there. We got all the benefits of a beach day, without the hassle at A Bay. It was a beautiful morning.

Oh hey, Pacific Ocean! Don’t you look pretty!

Time to go swimming!

As much as she loved being in the Ocean (for the first time!!), she liked the shore better so she could feel the waves lap her little feet.

As much as we loved being at the Ocean, there wasn’t much shade and it was HOT.

So after a couple of hours, we packed up and headed back to our hotel pool which has an abundant of umbrellas. You can’t go to Hawaii and not go to the beach! But we thought with Adele being so young, it was more fun at the pool.

I can’t wait for a year or two from now when she’ll get excited about sand castles and shell collecting. Hopefully we have a little beach baby in the making.

My First Mother’s Day May 12, 2013

My first mother’s day! What a special day for me. The first one I can celebrate with my daughter outside the womb. What an amazing year it has been.
IMG_1643

Last year at this time, I was cradling my 9-month pregnant belly, dreaming of what it would be like to become a mother. Wondering if I’d be a mom to a son or a daughter. Hoping he/she would like me! I did everything I could to take care of my little baby while he/she was on the inside. Practicing those mom skills early.

And now, exactly a year later, I’m chasing an 11-month old baby girl around the house, amazed at how fast she is growing and learning. Adele is so easy to love. She makes my job a breeze.

MotherDay

Adele loves to babble ‘mama mama mama’ which makes me smile every time. It’s a wonderful feeling to know that someone loves and needs you so much. But more than being my baby, Adele is becoming my friend. She’s not even a year old yet, but I already see the roots of a lifetime-long friendship forming. I’m so excited to develop that bond over the years.
Motherday2

It’s so important that our kids (especially our girls) have positive role models in their lives. Self confidence is so important to the development of our children. I hope to foster that in my daughter. I hope she views me (and Irving) as people she can confide in and trust.
MotherDay3

I’m excited that I can join the ranks of moms everywhere being celebrated this year. I am so fortunate to have so many wonderful strong mamas in my life to give me advice, encouragement and support. My mama-friends back home inspire me daily. And my LA-based mom group has become a force of nature (watch out, world!) Never underestimate the power of a mother. Happy Mother’s Day!

Aloha! Greetings from Hawaii!

I plan to check with more pictures and stories soon, but right now, we’re trying to unplug and live in the moment. It’s crazy how liberating it is to not be a slave to email, facebook, twitter, and my blog. I’ve only been here for two days and I’m already half way through a book (imagine that!)

It’s 8pm here and we’re heading to bed. Vacation for the win!

See you guys soon with more!

Hike to the Hollywood Sign May 4, 2013

Last week, the weather was perfect (as always in LA, right?!) and I was dying to get outside for a fun hike with Adele. My friend Melissa and I packed up our girls and set out to climb to the top of the hollywood sign.

I love this one of the two girls telling secrets. =)
IMG_5566

It was pretty warm, but the girls were slathered in sunscreen, covered in hats and sipping water along the way. They LOVED it. Both of them were babbling the whole time. They especially loved watching the horses come down the trail.
IMG_5570
Adele may be an LA baby, but she still loves nature. Even if you can’t tell from this picture. haha

IMG_5571
We may or may not have gotten lost and missed TWO turns in the trail, but eventually, we made it to the top of Mt. Lee (also known as the Hollywood Sign!) We were above the sign looking down at the iconic letters. Sometimes I can’t believe that we live here. The city of dreams down below there!
IMG_5582

The walk back down was fun and Adele snoozed for a while til we got back to our cars. Nothing like a sleeping baby while getting some exercise and catching up with a friend!
IMG_5584And yes, I wore my Boston Marathon hat in support of my hometown!

It was Melissa’s birthday(!!) so we finished our day with some pizza and a playdate back at my house. These two have a blast together.
IMG_1922

And they have matching pants, so that pretty much makes them inseparable.

So thankful for the wonderful friends I’ve made since having Adele. What an awesome day, thanks Melissa!!

PS, All of the hiking pictures are courtesy of Melissa too!
