This year, I have a lot to be Thankful for! Top of the list this year includes:

1.) My marriage! I am so thankful to have married my best friend this year in the wedding of my dreams. I feel so lucky to have Irving in my life. We laugh everyday, and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world! (I promise a wedding recap with pictures soon!)

2.) My family! (Both of them!) Even though I’m far away from everyone, since we live in Los Angeles, I am so thankful to be a part of both families! They’ve always been so supportive of Irving and I. And on July 11th, our family became bigger! I’m so excited to have Irving’s mom coming home with us for Christmas this year. We’re so lucky! (And I love having three sisters now too!)

3.) My Friends! Sometimes people think it’s crazy that I’m still friends with my group from high school, but they are the best friends anyone could ask for! Of course I love my friends I’ve met since high school, but I’m thankful for all of my friendships that have stood the test of time.

A few of these girls I’ve known since I was 3!

4.) Running!!! I am so thankful to be healthy enough to allow my body to run! Each full breath of air I take when I’m pounding out miles reminds me of my health (which I will never take for granted)! I am so excited to be training for the Boston Marathon this year! Show your support here!

Happy Thanksgiving!

(What are you thankful for?)

We also ventured off to Duke University’s Campus. It was GORGEOUS!!! We loved it! We just walked around and imagined what it must be like to go to school there. It looked like a movie set. A Hogwartz perhaps? So unreal.

Check out these awesome rocking chairs… perfect for studying! They looked so comfy!

I LOOVED the leaves! Look how orange and Crunchy!

A Mini Photoshoot with Timmy and Erika!

Reese is going to apply to Duke when she’s out of High School.

Check out these Benches!!!!

In my next life, I’m totally going to Duke. So awesome!!

I went to North Carolina this weekend to visit my friend Erika and her husband Timmy. It was so great seeing them and their family. Even though I only see Erika once or twice a year, it’s always like no time at all has passed when we’re together. She just cracks me up. Thanks for a great weekend!!

I was only there for 48 hours, so we made the most of our time there. It was an awesome balance of conversation, exploring and enjoying the east coast fall weather.

On Saturday, we went to the North Carolina Zoo!

Lions!

Zebras!
Gorillas!
Polar Bear! (I love his reflection in the water!
Bald Eagle. It was actually pretty cool to see one this close. I felt so American!

The Sea Otters…. so sleepy!
How awesome is this fall scenery?

I’ve waited my whole life to see a Venus Flytrap!!!!

Bobcat!

These Orange Pine Needles remind me of building forts at home!

A Polar Bear? Poor Guy. He was totally out of place here. I kinda felt bad. He looked so sad and lonely. And for the record, mud is NOT the same as snow. He needs a bath!

Long lost friends! Together at last!

A Lion!

Gorilla… an ANGRY gorilla!

Where are the Elephants?

There they are!

It’s crazy how fast Halloween came and went. But it was fun while it lasted!

I try to have all my costumes be “box” themes:

We had a mini halloween party at our place. It was great, we had awesome eats (A funfetti cake shaped like a pumpkin, Pumpkin flavored whoopie pies, Candy Corn and Pumpkin Ale!… lots of orangy colored things. YUM!

Everyone dressed up! I was so excited! Irving was a Lifeguard, just thought it was so cute and hilarious.

Ashley was a Stepford Wife and JR was the Sherrif! Erica was a marathon runner (WHOO HOO), Beth was a bumble bee and Chely was a German Beer girl! I love the spirit of the holiday this year!IMG_1908

We played Apples to Apples for a while and then ventured out into the neighborhood for some Halloween Haunts. Lots of awesome things to see this year. But we started out a little late. Buy 8:30, most houses had run out of candy and people were shutting down their displays, but for the most part, it did not disappoint. It was pretty rocking!

The first stop was one of the best houses in the neighborhood… every year there’s a theme of skeletons, and this year the theme was “Rock and Roll”.

We were late to the trick or treating. haha

IMG_1933

I got sick of carrying the huge Robot Box through the crowds, so I ditched on the side of the road half way through the night. Haha. Doesn’t it look lonely? When I came back for it, it was gone. I hope some kid enjoyed being a robot. lol (dont worry, i was planning on trashing it after the night anyways).

This was at a construction site (there’s a dragon on the pile of rocks!)

IMG_1935

Scary!

IMG_1937

ahhh!!! Isn’t this creepy?!?!

IMG_1939

What a fun night with friends! We totaled up the walk we did, and it came out to be about 5 miles! I think we totally burned off at least one handful of these:

This is the #1 reason why I love Halloween… MMMMmmm. I’m pretty sure I’ll single handedly polish these babies off in the next week. 🙂

Yesterday, Ashley and I took her dog, Abby, hiking up Fryman Canyon. It’s a moderate 3-mile hike, and it was great. The sky was overcast, so it wasn’t too hot. It was just so nice to chat and hang out and enjoy the fresh air together.IMG_1677
