Adele’s 2nd Halloween November 8, 2013

Adele was the most adorable soccer ball for Halloween this year. (Remember the sneak peek from a few months back?) It was too cute not to make it her official costume.

The leg warmers are my favorite part!

We had a two-week long celebration of Halloween this year. Starting with the Pumpkin Patch, then we had a pumpkin decorating party, a school party, a visit to a local ‘haunted’ house for kids (twice!), a party with her friends in the park… and of course Trick-or-Treating!

We had some friends over for pizza and then we headed out into the neighborhood. (PS, I spy Adele’s first face painting!)

I’m loving these itty bitty pony tails lately!!! I sneak them in while she’s brushing her teeth.

We suited up all the kids and packed up to head out into the neighborhood!

I’m sure Adele didn’t really understand what it meant to ‘trick or treat’, but she sure loved getting out of the stroller to walk up to people’s houses!

She was an expert trick-or-treater by the end. It was pitch black and we noticed she was being unusually quiet… and then we realized she had been poking around in her pumpkin and was happily munching on a tootsie pop. oh boy! You couldn’t claw that thing out of her hands if you tried!

I wasn’t going to let her sample any of her candy this year, but someone (ahem–daddy) slipped her a kitkat bar and I think she just about died. This was her first time tasting real chocolate and she was SO excited. Irving asked for a bite and she very firmly said “NO!” and shoved it in her mouth. That’s mama’s girl, right there.

We let her out a few more times because it was just so stinkin’ cute to watch. She proudly paraded up to the front of the line (yes, there are LINES here!) and held out her pumpkin.

She surprised us with how brave she is. She wasn’t fazed by anything! She was pretty fascinated by this guy!

Lots of lights, fog, kids, costumes and candy to look at! Adele probably thought this was the strangest evening walk she’s ever been on!

On Saturday, we had a ‘Post Halloween’ party with some (uh, 26!) of Adele’s little friends! It was a potluck and it was a blast!

The kids came in costume, stole cookies from the table and played with each other’s toys.

The moms don’t even get to talk anymore because we’re all chasing after runaway toddlers!

I somehow got Adele to sit long enough for ONE ‘official’ halloween picture.

I had plans to put Mr. Pumpkin back into storage til next year, but it has become Adele’s new favorite accessory. She puts toys and food in it, throws it over her shoulder and goes “bye!” like she’s walking out the door to go shopping or something. Ok. Pumpkin can stay a little longer. But I draw the line at the day we get our Christmas tree (which I secretly hope is sooner rather than later!) Bring on the holidays!

A Test Run April 22, 2011

I’m so excited that She Runs LA is less than a week away! I plan on getting up early and cranking out a 10K next Thursday and I’m excited!

And guess what came in the mail today! My She Runs LA Tanktop! And it’s PINK!

It’s a racer back top which is awesome. I don’t have a running tank top so I’m excited to get a lot of use out of this one. I think it would be good for yoga too. Tonight I took my new shirt and went for a 3.1 mile walk. I talked to my mom for most of it, and jogged/walked the rest. My shins are still super sore from Ragnar (probably because I was undertrained for it) and I don’t want to make them mad before the race next week!

But instead of ‘mall walking’, I did ‘speed walking’. In fact some random guy approached me to tell me I must be going really fast since he had just seen me on a street a half mile back. ha!

So excited for the Mike Posner concert at the Post Race party too. “You think you’re cooler than me….”

Mike Posner–Cooler than Me

PS…. remember all that Easter Candy?

It now looks like this…

Who ate all my M&Ms? Surely it wasn’t me….

Snow in Los Angeles! February 26, 2011

Today was such a strange day for weather in Los Angeles. This morning was bright and sunny, so we went for a morning walk to pick up some Croissants and get some fresh air. Not even two hours after we got back, it started POURING out!

Not a huge deal, because after all, it DOES rain in LA…. but this wasn’t just rain… it was HAIL!

We could actually hear it hitting the windows, it sounded like little pebbles hitting the glass. We both spent the day doing little things around the house and getting things checked off our never-shrinking to-do lists.

Irving took an inventory of our pantry and freezer, since we never know what we have in there. Now we can just glance at it and create meals around it. Very thoughtful and extremely helpful! Hopefully we can keep it updated as we eat items and buy new things.

Armed with a grocery list and a stack of coupons, I headed out (in the rain) to Trader Joes and Ralphs. It was raining, but the sun was shining.

We did a little ‘divide and conquer’ and Irving headed to Costco.  A little while later, he called me to tell me it was SNOWING in Burbank!

Real snow was accumulating on the road!

When was the last time it snowed in LA? Not since I’ve lived out here. This was very exciting for us!  Real flakes!

I was just four miles away, and I certainly didn’t see the white stuff, it must have just been a fluke!

Anyways, we both did really well in getting food for the week that can be made into real meals. You know how I have such a complex about meal planning and grocery shopping, but I think we did pretty well.

Wanna know what I got? It’s very exciting stuff (Including some Monterey Pasta since I won a coupon for a free one from Peanut Butter Fingers last fall!)

Root Beer and Vanilla Ice Cream = Root Beer Floats this week!

And um…. SEVEN boxes of cereal. I have a problem.

In my defense, each one of these had a coupon (or two!) Actually, I don’t think I paid full price for a single item in this grocery trip. SWEET!

I saved lots of money. What should I do with my extra fifty bucks? Something fun, I hope!

Irving did well getting some things on our list too… and some things that were NOT on our list….

We are now the proud owners of a Costco-sized jar of Jelly Beans. Awesome.

A Skype Baby Shower! September 19, 2010

Ashley’s family lives back on the East Coast, and they wanted to be part of the Baby Shower action too! So her sister and mom organized a ‘Skype Shower’ where everyone could “see” Ashley open up all her gifts!!

It was SUCH a cute idea. All the gifts were shipped to my house so they would be a surprise! And they even sent us plates, napkins, balloons and favors that matched theirs!

The cookies I made last night!

Look at this tower of gifts!!!

Before the shower, Ashley came over early and made me homemade crepes! (Learning how to cook, remember?)

It was so easy!

The key is the nutella and the whipped cream (obviously!)

Oops…should have been on the Baby Shower plates!

The mom-to-be!
And then the skyping began!

We even got to “see” the cake!

And play all the games!

So many presents!

Lots of wrapping paper!

Group photo!

It was SO much fun to share this day with you, Ash! Can’t wait for the baby to get here!!

Halloween!! November 1, 2009

It’s crazy how fast Halloween came and went. But it was fun while it lasted!

I try to have all my costumes be “box” themes:

2006 (A lego):

2007 (Youtube):

And this year…I was a Robot!!

It’s always fun to dress up.

We had a mini halloween party at our place. It was great, we had awesome eats (A funfetti cake shaped like a pumpkin, Pumpkin flavored whoopie pies, Candy Corn and Pumpkin Ale!… lots of orangy colored things. YUM!

Everyone dressed up! I was so excited! Irving was a Lifeguard, just thought it was so cute and hilarious.

Ashley was a Stepford Wife and JR was the Sherrif! Erica was a marathon runner (WHOO HOO), Beth was a bumble bee and Chely was a German Beer girl! I love the spirit of the holiday this year!IMG_1908

We played Apples to Apples for a while and then ventured out into the neighborhood for some Halloween Haunts. Lots of awesome things to see this year. But we started out a little late. Buy 8:30, most houses had run out of candy and people were shutting down their displays, but for the most part, it did not disappoint. It was pretty rocking!

The first stop was one of the best houses in the neighborhood… every year there’s a theme of skeletons, and this year the theme was “Rock and Roll”.

Jimmy Hendrix (With Ash and JR)

So cute!

Michael Jackson (Thrillllller)

Britney Spears (and you can’t see it in this picture, but there’s a baby skeleton on her lap!! What?!)

Miley Cyrus/Hannah Montana. hahaha

The one and only….

Bye, bye Miss American Pie…..

The Marathoner, the Robot… and Elvis.

The lifeguard (with our classy SOLO cups of Pumpkin Beer). haha

The men.

Isn’t this scary? It was a real TV set with a doll watching it. haha

Where the Wild Things are… there was a person in there!

A video of someone’s front yard!

The Girls!

We were late to the trick or treating. haha

I got sick of carrying the huge Robot Box through the crowds, so I ditched on the side of the road half way through the night. Haha. Doesn’t it look lonely? When I came back for it, it was gone. I hope some kid enjoyed being a robot. lol (dont worry, i was planning on trashing it after the night anyways).

This was at a construction site (there’s a dragon on the pile of rocks!)

ahhh!!! Isn’t this creepy?!?!

What a fun night with friends! We totaled up the walk we did, and it came out to be about 5 miles! I think we totally burned off at least one handful of these:

This is the #1 reason why I love Halloween… MMMMmmm. I’m pretty sure I’ll single handedly polish these babies off in the next week. 🙂
