Wedding Recap: Programs

I’m dedicating a whole post to my programs because they were the most labor intense part of the whole wedding! It sounded like an easy project at first, but it took some serious thought and elbow grease to put these together!!

We chose to do fan programs (because hey, it’s hot in new england in july!)

I got the idea and the template from Aylee Bits.

I printed out all the petals onto cardstock and then cut them out BY HAND!

Programs 004

We made 75 programs, there were 9 petals for each fan. So that means that I cut 675 petals out! I had a blister by the end!

The carnage!

Once I cut them all, my plan was to hole punch each individual page to put them together. My dad looked at me and laughed because he had a better idea!

Behold the beauty of how power tools can help with wedding planning!

Oh my gosh, I LOOOOVED my dress!

But first… here’s a few dresses I tried on that did not make the cut:

PS. Dress shopping with your BFF who is getting married 2 weeks before you is incredibly fun!
(and above right is Sarah who got married a few months before me!)

Ok, so you see how all the above pictures, NONE of those dresses really suits me, right?

Well, sometimes you just know!

I ended up finding my dress in Las Vegas with Ashley and my grandmother. It totally wasn’t a dress I would have picked to try on, but it was perfect. It was a Maggie Sottero Vienna. And it was love.

I loved the lace and the satin together.

Originally, it had a really heavy train of Satin and Lace:

But I had my seamstress (whom I highly recommend, by the way) chop off the satin!! It was scary, but I was so glad I did. It made it so much lighter.

My veil was my mom’s from 1982. Hers was attached to a hat.

I had a family friend disassemble it, doubled it over and attached it to a comb. Viola!

For my shoes, I knew I didn’t want heels, so I bought the lowest heels I could find that still looked decent. They’re actually just white dyables. Then I found a pair of great earrings at Forever 21 for $3, so I cut off the posts and hot glued them on. I LOVED them!

Ok, enough about me… what did Irving wear?
IMG_9751 1
A sleek Brooks Brother’s suit! And he was quite handsome in it, if I don’t say so myself!

He also wore cufflinks from Mont Blanc:

The bridesmaids wore Bill Levkoff dresses in Chocolate:

EJ (AKA Groomsmaid!) wore the same dress in black. This was great because she matched the my maids and Irving’s groomsmen!

You all looked amazing!!!!

Wedding Recap: The Favors

I’m not sure why, but from the beginning, I knew I wanted Rice Krispies treats favors. But I wanted to tie in the teal and brown theme as well.

Then I found this picture online:

I knew that was EXACTLY what I wanted.

We went out and bought TONS of rice krispies treats, chocolate and cellophane bags. Each bag would have two treats inside.

Irving definitely did most of the work on these. He was a chocolate dipping machine!

We bought melting chocolate in bulk (yes, we flew to Boston with nearly 20 pounds of chocolate in our luggage!!)

Then each treat got dipped and set to harden.

Then we bought teal chocolate to drizzle over the top!

Of course, because I have to micromanage everything, I wanted to play too!

Then we had my grandmother and my mom putting them in bags and tying them with ribbon!

Viola!

Wedding Recap: Flowers

I have to admit that while planning the wedding, flowers were the least of my priorities. But they ended up being one my favorite elements. We worked with Lakes Region Floral Studio, and they were fantastic.

The theme with the flowers was green, orchids and wild flowers.

My bouquet was cymbidium orchids, oriental lilies, stephanotis blooms and button mums with accents of wax flower, bear grass and limonium:

The bridesmaids were similiar to mine with cymbidium orchid blooms, stephanotis blooms and bear grass accents:

The ribbon that was used to tie them was the same ribbon used on the cake tower too.

Irving’s boutonniere was one Mini white cymbidium orchid bloom with two stephanotis blooms.

The mom’s, grandmothers and EJ carried a variety of corsages, pin-on flowers and single roses.

Other Floral elements:

Wreaths on the doors, that were later moved downstairs to the reception room:

Alter plants that were later moved inside:

And centerpieces:

They were floating orchids with teal sea glass. The sea glass was also scattered along the table as well.

Yea, my flowers were definitely the thing that tied it all together. We just adored them.
