We had an amazing long weekend, just hanging out, getting some stuff done and enjoying the fresh air. It was just so nice to not have an agenda and relax.

On Monday, we played 9 holes of golf together at a little course in Burbank. I told Irving that I wouldn’t play unless I could have all kinds of PINK things to go with it:

Pink Golf Balls:

Pink Golf Towel:

Pink Tees:

Pink Golf Glove:

And of course, a pink hat, skirt and shirt!
Golf is allllll about fashion, yes?

That’s my husband!

A beautiful day for golf!

Then later, we played a great game of “Extreme Life”!

It took us forever to figure out the rules, there are so many pieces!

But it was great….and for the record… I won! To be fair, Irving beat me in golf—but not by much. 🙂

And just for fun, here’s a picture of my new Dana-Farber running shirt!!! This is the one I’ll be wearing on race day!!

A Very Married Valentine’s Day

 Happy Valentine’s Day!

It was our first married Valentine’s Day! I can’t believe we’ve been married for 7 months already! Where did the year go?

We woke up and exchanged gifts. I got a few cute things including this awesome sunblock for your face by Origins!

I love a man who understands the importance of protecting your skin.

I got him tickets to see the “Black Eyed Peas” in March. We’re SUPER excited to shake it like a polaroid picture.

It has been so beautiful out lately (not to rub it in, all you east coasters!) that I got excited to decorate for Spring! My grandmother gave me these Lenox Rabbits when we got engaged and I get so excited to put them out every spring.

But my husband thought that they were missing something, so he bought me flowers!!

Doesn’t that look more like “spring“?

I LOVE, LOVE LOVE these types of flowers (Button Mums, Spider Mums, Daisies and Lilies!) because that is what was in my wedding bouquet!!! I got so excited, that I had to take a picture in front of my wedding canvas to compare!

Look at these two happy love-birds!

In honor of our first married Valentine’s Day, here’s a cute little picture of our cake topper that is now on our mantle! My sister brought them back from Australia!

Here’s a few of our past Valentine’s Days:
One year ago this weekend, we went to Vegas!
And seven years ago this weekend, we were in Paris!

Olympic Party! February 13, 2010

Last night we celebrated the Olympic Opening Ceremonies in style with an Olympic-themed party! We had a “cultural potluck” to celebrate all the countries! Everyone brought a dish from a different country and it was DELICIOUS! We have some talented chefs in our circle of friends, thanks guys! (More on the food later).

But first, we were SUPER excited about our totally awesome American decorations we found at the 99 cent store. SCORE! Check it out!

Even in the bathroom!!

And check out the AWESOME olympic rings I made. Pretty good, huh?

Irving and I got into the mood by wearing some of our “medals”!

((A little piece of Irving trivia: He ran the Las Vegas 1/2 Marathon in 2006 because I signed him up without telling him. haha!

We had about 13 people in our place! I think that was a record for us! Hopefully everyone was comfortable.

We got these cute chocolate coins from World Market. They had different coins from around the world. Some of them also had picture of different cities. They were fun!

Like I was saying, we had some AMAZING food! Everyone had to make a name tag for the country of their dish. 🙂

Here’s a sampling!

Chips and Salsa = Mexico

Armenian Pizza (served with Lemon!) = Armenia
 Pizza = Italy

Christina brought over Dumplings! = China

Chili = Chile HAHAHA (We were pretty proud of that one!)

Cornish Vegetable Pastries = England

Baked Brie = France

Hummus, Pita, Tzatziki, Olives = Greece

A Heineken Keg = The Netherlands! HAHA

Baked Eggplant with Goat Cheese/Tomato Sauce = Spain

Red Velvet Whoppie Pies! = Canada or Switzerland (For Red/White Colors!)

Then we watched the Opening Ceremonies! All 4.5 hours of it. For the most part, I thought the show was great.

We were a little confused about the costume choice of this act… but still pretty cool.

We ended the night with a shot out of the “Ice Shot Glasses” we got for our wedding. (Yes, my husband put frozen shot glasses on our registry. haha)

Everyone keeps saying that the Vancouver Olympic Ceremony wasn’t anything close to Beijing. I understand what they mean, but I’m really happy with the way Vancouver did them. They aren’t proving a point to the world like Beijing was. The world already likes Vancouver, they don’t need an overly expensive spectacle to prove that. I think it was smart and cute. Although I was disappointed they didn’t have any Cirque du Soleil stuff (considering it originated in Montreal).

Thanks to all our friends who came over! Hope you had as much fun as we did!! GO USA!!!!

Last night, I got up totally mentally prepared to do a long run in the rain. I had my clothes all picked out and a rain parka ready to go and everything. Part of me was pretty excited to run in the rain because I thought it might be good practice for Boston (realistically, it could rain during the Boston Marathon! Gosh, I really hope it doesn’t though!)

But this morning I woke up at 5am and we looked outside and saw it was going to be a beautiful day! I laid in bed til 5:30a before finally getting up. It was so nice to enjoy breakfast and check some emails before I headed out to run.

I met up with my Dana-Farber teammate, Peter and we started our run! It was a little chilly, but when you get a gorgeous day like this, you just have to enjoy it!

We ran at Balboa Park which is actually is a flood basin, so all the roads around the park were closed to traffic. It was awesome being able to run in the middle of the street. It felt so rebellious. There’s nothing better than a wide open street to run on. It was very exciting.

My plan for the day was 15 miles (per my training schedule), but Peter convinced me to just do the whole 18 with him. He’s nuts, but he knows what he’s doing, so I committed to the full 18. Eeek!

We stopped a few times to use the restroom and shed some layers, and at one of the stops, I snapped a few photos. hee hee.

(sorry, couldn’t rotate the picture!)

We stuck to our trusty 5:5 intervals for the whole time. For the most part, it was pretty easy to maintain. I struggled a little bit around mile 12-14, but then I got a second wind. If I can do 18 now, what’s another 8 for the marathon right?! It was a huge confidence booster.

Because I can’t do math in my head after running 18 miles, we ended up overshooting and did a total of 18.25 miles. I was DONE with a capital “D” at the end. I felt great, but very happy to be done.

We did 18.25 miles in 3 hours, 52 minutes and 58 seconds with an average pace of 12:45.

Here are the splits:
Mile 1:  11:57
Mile 2:  11:31
Mile 3:  11:29
Mile 4:  13:58
Mile 5:  14:43
Mile 6:  11:31
Mile 7:  12:42
Mile 8:  12:45
Mile 9:  11:35
Mile 10:  12:45
Mile 11:  12:45
Mile 12:  12:28
Mile 13:  12:14
Mile 14:  12:20
Mile 15:  13:29
Mile 16:  13:01
Mile 17:  13:07
Mile 18:  13:42

After the run, I ate my 20 Gram Protein Bar, guzzeled more water, took a shower, and then a nap. 🙂 And I feel great. I dont even feel like I ran today, not a tinge of soreness. Maybe it will sink in tomorrow, but all in all, I feel like a million bucks.
Speaking of a million bucks, I am getting closer and closer to my fundraising goal for Dana-Farber. I appreciate everyone’s support! This is such an amazing cause, and I am proud to be on the team. Donate Here!

And if you’re in the LA Area, there’s still room to sign up for my awesome Scrapbooking Event on March 6! Click here for details! Everyone is welcome! And let me tell you….. there are some AMAZING raffle prizes that will be given away at the event, and you WON’T want to miss it! Email kelocity@gmail.com to RSVP.
