Challah = Holla! March 22, 2011

For some reason, whenever anyone says ‘Challah’, I always want to yell “Holla!”

Irving and I had a lunchtime date at Costco today. Oh, the life of the adult, huh? We picked up a lovely loaf of Challah, and I just think it looks so pretty!

This gorgeous bottle of Moscato also ended up in my cart. I don’t know how it happened!

It’s from Israel! My Jewish mother-in-law would be proud. I can’t wait to open this up. A bottle of red wine will stay half full in our house for a couple of weeks. But Moscato, Ice Wine or Chardonnay? 2 days, flat! We’re total wine-o’s. (hahaha, that’s not really true, but I do love really sweet wine!)

I went out on a 3-mile walk after work tonight. I love how clear the sky is after the rain in Los Angeles. On the way out I grabbed a Hunk-O-Challah! I kept chanting that in my head “hunk o’ challah, hunk o’challah”.

I chatted with my sister for the entire three miles. She just finished up another semester of grad school. GO, LAURIE!

Soaked to the Core March 21, 2011

Irving and I had all kinds of Sunday plans. We had a to-do list (of course) of fun stuff and some chores stuff. But all of it got de-railed by the rain. We used to always make fun of Los Angeles residents who cancel their plans when it rains (it’s just rain, guys!) But this weekend, we totally became those people.

We scrapped our plans to attend the LA Travel Expo and spent the day in our office rewiring, rearranging and cleaning up our electronics. We’re such nerds, you have no idea. Irving even vacuumed the inside of my computer. If that’s not the dorkiest thing you’ve ever heard, what is? haha

All that geek stuff worked up an appetite and I enthusiastically tore open these new gems from Trader Joes. Dark Chocolate. Vanilla. Caramels.

Irving exclaimed “it’s like three of your favorite things all together!” Yes, husband, you are correct. They were awesome.

Later, we headed down to the South Bay to go see the LA Galaxy home opener game. They were playing the New England Revolution and it’s sort of become a tradition to see the two teams play!

It was POURING out though, they gave everyone ponchos, but just running from the car to the stadium left me soaked to the core. The poncho was no match for the weather today!

Oh well, we made the most of it, and it actually ended up being a really great game.

And I spent the entire 90 minutes trying to get a good picture of David Beckham (Priorities!)

In the end, we tied 1-1.

Then it was time to brave the rain again to trek back to the car. My jeans were soaked to the thigh by the time we got there. Gross.

PS… why are my eyes two different sizes there?

Even though we were soaked, my uncle was in town and wanted to go out and do something fun.

We ended up having dinner at BJs Brewery and it was awesome. I had a great soup/salad combo, but I was totally saving room for the main event: The Pazooki!

A half-cooked cookie, served warm, with vanilla bean ice cream. Twas’ delightful!

A perfect way to end a rainy weekend. Happy Monday everyone!

Mountains of Snow! February 1, 2011

This morning, I tried to get a bit of upper body strength in. I put on the Today Show and got down to business with my 5lb weights:

Rows 15×2 each
Bicep Curls 15 x2
Overhead Tricep Dips 15 x 2
Pushups (girl style) x 20
Chest Press 15×2
Crunches x 50

The big story on the news today is all that snow the east coast is being pounded with. I just can’t believe all the bad weather they got over there this year. It’s already February and they are expecting another two feet of snow by tomorrow! The reporters keep talking about all the freezing temperatures across the country… and then they show LA and it’s 72, 74, 75, sunny, sunny, sunny. We live in a bubble out here.

My mom told me she can’t see her neighbors over the snowbanks, they just hold up their shovels and wave to each other that way. Hopefully they have an amazing spring and summer to make up for all this white stufff!

The Today Show screwed up today and they left Al’s microphone on too long and we could hear him saying “What? What should I say next? Who do I toss this next segment to? Matt?” I always think this is hilarious when it happens because I used to work in a newsroom. Anyways, happy Tuesday!

Christmas Day! December 31, 2010

On Christmas Morning, we all woke up pretty early to see what Santa brought us!!

I was really missing Irving, but Santa didn’t forget him!

Stockings always come first!

I got so many awesome gifts, lots of running related things, cooking things, games and other fun stuff. Santa definitely spoiled us this year!

Then we headed to my aunt’s house for our annual family game night. This year’s game of choice was Scribblish!

If you haven’t seen this game yet, you just have to trust me that it’s the best game of the year. It was HILARIOUS!

It involves lots of drawing…and laughing hysterically at said drawings.

The next day… the big storm hit….

We had to snowblow and shovel 1.5 feet of snow out of the driveway.

Not fun. But we made the best of it by hanging out inside and doing our annual sisters photoshoot!!

This one might be my favorite!

Then we took the party outside!

A Holiday Recap–Christmas Eve

I know, I have been a negligent blogger as of late. I was also a pretty bad Christmas vacation photographer. But I have lots of memories and warm moments to share.

It all started way back last week. I had to pack up all my presents and fly them with me to Boston. It probably would have been easier to wrap them when I got there, but I’m a sucker for wrapping up surprises.
That gnome wrapping paper was from Ikea about four years ago. I FINALLY used it all up this year!

All packed up and ready to go! Thank goodness for Southwest’s free baggage allowance!

A few of my friends and I have a tradition of getting together for breakfast on Christmas Eve day. This year, we were also joined by the gorgeous baby Harper!

She’s at a fun smiley age now. I was in love.

I already miss all of them!

Then I spent the afternoon hanging out with my sisters, wrapping more presents and getting ready for Christmas Eve! My whole family and all the cousins head to my grandparents house. Now that everyone is getting older, it’s so much fun.
