We’re decorating our tree tonight! I’m so excited! I’ll post pictures of it soon… but in the meantime, may I remind you about “The Great Christmas Tree Disaster of 2006“?
I still look back at this and laugh… Hil-Arious.

This year, we did Thanksgiving in the Bay Area, which means we (and half a million other people) drive from LA to San Francisco for the holiday. I think everyone else gets out at noon on Wednesday so EVERYONE leaves at the same time… it was horrendous leaving LA through the Grapevine, but overall, not a bad drive.
Per usual, we stopped at Harris Ranch about 4 hours into the drive.
We picked out some Thanksgiving desserts to bring up, and I got a little snack for the rest of the drive! A desserty parfait cup! It has layers of Pound Cake, Chocolate Cake, pudding, berries and Whipped Cream.
Oh… and topped with Nuts and Chocolate Sauce…..
I ate it while working on my marathon training plan!
Yep… that was pretty much a whole post dedicated to cake, chocolate and whipped cream. 🙂
This year, I have a lot to be Thankful for! Top of the list this year includes:
1.) My marriage! I am so thankful to have married my best friend this year in the wedding of my dreams. I feel so lucky to have Irving in my life. We laugh everyday, and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world! (I promise a wedding recap with pictures soon!)
2.) My family! (Both of them!) Even though I’m far away from everyone, since we live in Los Angeles, I am so thankful to be a part of both families! They’ve always been so supportive of Irving and I. And on July 11th, our family became bigger! I’m so excited to have Irving’s mom coming home with us for Christmas this year. We’re so lucky! (And I love having three sisters now too!)
3.) My Friends! Sometimes people think it’s crazy that I’m still friends with my group from high school, but they are the best friends anyone could ask for! Of course I love my friends I’ve met since high school, but I’m thankful for all of my friendships that have stood the test of time.
A few of these girls I’ve known since I was 3!
4.) Running!!! I am so thankful to be healthy enough to allow my body to run! Each full breath of air I take when I’m pounding out miles reminds me of my health (which I will never take for granted)! I am so excited to be training for the Boston Marathon this year! Show your support here!
(What are you thankful for?)
Irving and I are always talking about how incredible, scary and fun it was to just pick up, leave everything, and drive across the country in search of a new job, a new apartment, a new relationship and a new beginning. We had been dating long distance for over 3 years at that point, and we were totally ready to dive in and start our new lives together…. so without any plan or sure bet, we packed up everything we had, rented a minivan… and headed to California to take us wherever destiny would bring us.
I had just turned 21 and graduated college. I look so young in these pictures. (And Irving looks so cold!) Even Nikki, my dog, was there to see us off!
We had to physically tape some of our items together so they’d all fit. We fit a mini dining room set and a futon bed in there too!
I dont think my dad actually thought we were really going through with this until the last bag was loaded into the car. Pulling out of the driveway was one of the most defining moments in my life!
Here goes nothing…
That was the best Road Trip of my life, we made it across the country in 5 days. It has definitely proven to be the best decision I ever made. It was so rewarding, empowering and exciting to follow my our dream and carve a path for ourselves. Moral of the story? If you have a dream… make it happen. You can not go wrong with following your heart and taking on challenges that may seem unrealistic.
That road trip was 5 years ago, and we’ve since upgraded our mini dining room set and futon. haha
I was only in North Carolina for a quick 48 hours, but it was still so fun to catch up and hang out and chat too. We had a few more adventures that included a stop in Dunkin Donuts! MMmm Had to have my DD Fix!
We also got shakes at Chick Filet (OMG Ice Cream HEAVEN!)

We had an awesome lunch in downtown Raleigh at The Mellow Mushroom! I had an awesome Avocado Melt!
And of course, we spent plenty of time hanging out with the kids dogs.
Thanks for an AWESOME weekend Erika!!!!!
