Note: The videos aren’t loading properly today… i’ll check back tomorrow to see what’s up.
———————————————————–

I guess technically it’s more like 16.75 months… I’m a little behind. But we’ve been having a blast lately. This little lady has grown SO much in the past few weeks.
IMG_1406

Everything is growing! Her body, her hair, her vocabulary…. her temper! I think it’s safe to say somewhere between months 15 and 16 she became a toddler. Really when she started walking everything else sort of took off with it.  She’s a solid walker now, though she does flail her arms around when she does it, it’s really funny.

IMG_1395

As you saw in my video yesterday, she’s talking up a storm now.  Not full sentences, but lots and lots of words. Some of her words are: quack, woof, meow meow, moo, baa, no, yes (pronounced ‘yessh’), mama, dada, water, bottle, bubbles, wheeee, up, down, beep beep, car, cat, bravo, light.

And she knows most of her body parts too (eyes, ears, nose, mouth, tummy, head, feet, hands).

She also understands commands like “Come here, Go there, Climb up, Spin in a circle, dance, where’s your milk?, Do you want to go outside?, put it in your mouth, get that out of your mouth, clap your hands, push the button, etc”. Her favorite song is “If you’re happy and you know it clap your hands”. Especially the “Shout Hooray” verse.
IMG_1392

As much as she understands now, she also has “Toddler Selective Hearing”… you know, that thing where if you’re misbehaving you pretend you don’t hear mommy telling you ‘no’? Yep. She’s mastered that one too.
IMG_1405

She’s getting fresh and I love it. haha
IMG_1375
IMG_1372
She’s still loving her books. In fact, I just went out and got her some more this weekend. She actually pays attention to stories now, and scours the pictures for little things hiding in the background. She can spot a ‘car’ or a ‘bird’ way in the background. She’s very observant.

IMG_1373Here’s a video of Irving reading to her recently (yep, on the kitchen floor). Storytime has become very interactive and we’re loving it! (If the link doesn’t work, click here).

She’s also really into straps, buckles and zippers lately. Her high chair and stroller have become just as interesting as her toys.
IMG_1412

Her hair is starting to grow!!  It’s in that weird stage where it’s getting in her eyes, but it’s too short to do much with it.
IMG_1350
IMG_1347

But I did get it into a ponytail this weekend!

I love the “downdog” transition between sitting and standing up. So cute!
IMG_1389

I can’t really believe it but she’s already into imaginary play. She loves putting her animals to bed, carrying around my purses and pretending. These developmental leaps are incredible. Here’s a video from when I was back home of Aunty Laurie’s ‘tea party’. (If the link doesn’t work, click here).

Some stats from month 16:
Weight: 20.5lbs
Diapers: Size 3
Shoes: Size 4
Pants: 12 Months & 18 Months
Shirts: 18 Months

IMG_1336These monthly photos are becoming comical. They usually look like this:

And end like this:

But ultimately, I got my shot… her official 16 (and a half) month photo:

Here’s a smorgasbord of pictures from our trip back east a few weeks ago. We had awesome New England Fall weather. It makes sense why Bostonians talk about the weather all the time. After brutal winters and scorching summers, you learn to really appreciate those perfect fall days like we had!

Hi Gizmo (or as Adele says: Mo Mo)

Dress up!

Fun Fact: When Mikaela was little, all she wanted was a ‘boy doll’ and a ‘double baby stroller’. So for Christmas one year, she got “Brian” (who is actually the same size as Adele haha) and a purple double stroller. Now 25 years later, Adele and Brian have become BFFs.

Adele takes good care of Brian. Eat your peas, Brian!

Oh… and just for fun… here’s a pictures of my Friendly’s Ice Cream we got one night. Yes please and thank you!

And no, I didn’t share a single bite with Adele. Or Brian.

Wish I could come back and visit in the fall every year! What a great trip!! See you next in the 18* snow storm, Boston! I’m cold already.

2013 Fall Festival of Love October 23, 2013

It’s that time again! The Fall Festival of Love! Irving and I started this fun little fall tradition back in 2005!

A look back:
2005-2010 | 2011 | 2012

This year we carpooled with some friends and met up with a few more people there! Adele’s friend Claudia sat next to her in the car… and even brought toy remotes for them to play with. She thought that was awesome.
IMG_1203

We checked out the animals for a while. The goats were a hit. We didn’t go into the petting zoo section, but that’s something I’d like to do with Adele soon!
IMG_1209

Then we found the hay bale pyramid. I didn’t think they’d be too into it, but they wanted to climb to the top, so we indulged them.
IMG_1219
IMG_1224

Um… where did my baby go?
IMG_1232

Up and down, up and down…
IMG_1233

Even though it was a million degrees out, we headed to the pumpkin patch for some more photos.

That tongue!

Little miss independent over there!
IMG_1260
Hee hee, that tongue again!
IMG_1262

Can’t believe last year, she couldn’t even sit up without propping her up with pumpkins!
IMG_7015

And this year, she’s walking around!
IMG_1238

Miraculously, we got one great family photo! Not easy these days with a curious squirmy toddler!

And my absolute favorite photo from the day! Love this girl.
IMG_1292

We came home with two cute sugar pumpkins and one mini baby pumpkin (half the size of the one she’s holding above). She’s been carrying the baby pumpkin around with her everywhere lately. It came with us in the car on the way to daycare this week. She’s a fan of fall too! Just like her mama!

M&C: The Wedding October 21, 2013

My sister, Mikaela married her soul mate last week. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous. Every detail was accounted for. They both worked so hard to create a day they (and us!) would never forget. There was so much love in the air on October 4th! ❤

The girls had a great time getting ready in the morning. We had some food and some champagne and we just relaxed while we got ready. The bride was very excited and her energy was contagious!

We had awesome hair stylists. I loved my updo! Here’s some closeups!

Sister Laurie!
IMG_1063

And my mom… wow. Gorgeous!
IMG_1057

It’s so fun getting all dressed up. I loved the dresses!
(PS got to reuse my bridesmaid shoes from my friend Erika’s wedding!)
IMG_1065
Mikaela was just stunning. Her dress had a beautiful lace overlay. The most beautiful bride I’ve ever seen.
DSCN0874

Irving, my dad and Laurie’s boyfriend were on ‘baby duty’ while the girls got ready. They took good care of the world’s cutest flower girl.

Oh, Hi, Irving!
_DSC0029

Soon enough, it was go time! I wasn’t sure if Adele would walk down the aisle or not… but at the last minute, I decided just to carry her. It was a long way to walk  and I didn’t want her to hold up the parade. She did great!
_DSC0067

Here comes the Bride!!!! Seems like just yesterday my dad was walking ME down the aisle! You did great, dad!
_DSC0070

I think she was very excited to see Chris waiting at the end of the aisle. The two of them just seemed SO happy. They are perfect for each other. They had a nice wine blending ceremony, which was perfect since the venue is a winery.
_DSC0090

But my favorite part of the ceremony was when Chris was doing his vows. Mikaela had snuck in an extra line without him knowing that required him to ‘vow to love and protect Gizmo’ (their dog). He was taken off guard and everyone laughed, it was very funny.
_DSC0081

Gizmo was actually waiting for them after the ceremony to take some pictures!
_DSC0108

The setting was unbelievable. Fall was the perfect time for a vineyard wedding. These belong in a magazine!

The whole gang!

Soon it was time to head inside to get our dancing on!

_DSC0047

IMG_1030

Mikaela was really proud of her wine rack program display because she “didn’t even get the idea from Pinterest!” So… happy pinning folks!
IMG_1028

They did all their centerpieces on their own too. Gorgeous!!! That’s a lot of wine to drink to get that many corks! haha
IMG_1019

Laurie and I wrote a poem as our ‘toast’ to the new couple. It was pretty epic.  We had fun with it. My favorite part was when Adele yelled “YAYYY” and clapped at the end of it. It was awesome. Everyone laughed.

IMG_1077

The first dance!
_DSC0174

Cutting of the cake! They had AMAZING cupcakes. And you know me and cupcakes. AWESOME!
IMG_1089
IMG_1083

Me and my dad…. and ahem… Jim. HAHA
DSC02772

haha let’s try again!
DSC02774

My little girl was SO good during the wedding! She sat at the table with us and chatted along with everyone. She was so happy to be there. We had a blast.
IMG_1082

And when in doubt, bring raisins. =)
IMG_1080

Then we let the dancing begin!!!
IMG_1126
IMG_1133

Adele danced until the lights came back on at 10:30p! She literally danced. In a circle, around the circle and inside the circle…. all night long. I couldn’t believe it. She was having the time of her life.
_DSC0250

I was laughing because occasionally, we take baby music classes where one teacher sings some mild songs and the kids dance for a half hour or so. By comparison, this party was loud, the lights were flashing, the beats were pumping, people were jumping… i can’t even imagine how much her brain was overstimulated and she was loving it! Eventually we changed her into her jammies but that didn’t cramp her style one bit! She was still jamming with the best of them!
_DSC0264

And just for fun, I love this picture of my grandparents. I think everyone had an absolute blast. It was an incredible night.
_DSC0258

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs!!! We love you both so much!! And now the real fun begins!!! Happy wedding, happy marriage!!!! xoxoxo

Hopefully the photographer doesn’t mind I posted a few of these. They were too gorgeous not to! I had to!
