M&C: The Wedding October 21, 2013

My sister, Mikaela married her soul mate last week. The wedding was absolutely gorgeous. Every detail was accounted for. They both worked so hard to create a day they (and us!) would never forget. There was so much love in the air on October 4th! ❤

The girls had a great time getting ready in the morning. We had some food and some champagne and we just relaxed while we got ready. The bride was very excited and her energy was contagious!

We had awesome hair stylists. I loved my updo! Here’s some closeups!

Sister Laurie!

And my mom… wow. Gorgeous!
IMG_1057

It’s so fun getting all dressed up. I loved the dresses!
(PS got to reuse my bridesmaid shoes from my friend Erika’s wedding!)
IMG_1065
Mikaela was just stunning. Her dress had a beautiful lace overlay. The most beautiful bride I’ve ever seen.

Irving, my dad and Laurie’s boyfriend were on ‘baby duty’ while the girls got ready. They took good care of the world’s cutest flower girl.

Oh, Hi, Irving!
_DSC0029

Soon enough, it was go time! I wasn’t sure if Adele would walk down the aisle or not… but at the last minute, I decided just to carry her. It was a long way to walk  and I didn’t want her to hold up the parade. She did great!
_DSC0067

Here comes the Bride!!!! Seems like just yesterday my dad was walking ME down the aisle! You did great, dad!
_DSC0070

I think she was very excited to see Chris waiting at the end of the aisle. The two of them just seemed SO happy. They are perfect for each other. They had a nice wine blending ceremony, which was perfect since the venue is a winery.
_DSC0090

But my favorite part of the ceremony was when Chris was doing his vows. Mikaela had snuck in an extra line without him knowing that required him to ‘vow to love and protect Gizmo’ (their dog). He was taken off guard and everyone laughed, it was very funny.
_DSC0081

Gizmo was actually waiting for them after the ceremony to take some pictures!
_DSC0108

The setting was unbelievable. Fall was the perfect time for a vineyard wedding. These belong in a magazine!

Stealing this from the photographer. It belongs in a magazine!

Soon it was time to head inside to get our dancing on!

_DSC0047

IMG_1030

Mikaela was really proud of her wine rack program display because she “didn’t even get the idea from Pinterest!” So… happy pinning folks!
IMG_1028

They did all their centerpieces on their own too. Gorgeous!!! That’s a lot of wine to drink to get that many corks! haha
IMG_1019

Laurie and I wrote a poem as our ‘toast’ to the new couple. It was pretty epic.  We had fun with it. My favorite part was when Adele yelled “YAYYY” and clapped at the end of it. It was awesome. Everyone laughed.

The first dance!

Cutting of the cake! They had AMAZING cupcakes. And you know me and cupcakes. AWESOME!

Me and my dad…. and ahem… Jim. HAHA

haha let’s try again!
DSC02774

My little girl was SO good during the wedding! She sat at the table with us and chatted along with everyone. She was so happy to be there. We had a blast.
IMG_1082

And when in doubt, bring raisins. =)
IMG_1080

Then we let the dancing begin!!!
IMG_1126
IMG_1133

Adele danced until the lights came back on at 10:30p! She literally danced. In a circle, around the circle and inside the circle…. all night long. I couldn’t believe it. She was having the time of her life.
_DSC0250

I was laughing because occasionally, we take baby music classes where one teacher sings some mild songs and the kids dance for a half hour or so. By comparison, this party was loud, the lights were flashing, the beats were pumping, people were jumping… i can’t even imagine how much her brain was overstimulated and she was loving it! Eventually we changed her into her jammies but that didn’t cramp her style one bit! She was still jamming with the best of them!
_DSC0264

And just for fun, I love this picture of my grandparents. I think everyone had an absolute blast. It was an incredible night.
_DSC0258

Congratulations to the new Mr. and Mrs!!! We love you both so much!! And now the real fun begins!!! Happy wedding, happy marriage!!!! xoxoxo

Hopefully the photographer doesn’t mind I posted a few of these. They were too gorgeous not to! I had to!

Indy in the Summer September 7, 2013

I love Indianapolis. I had only visited once before and had a great time. I love exploring new cities and Indianapolis is very underrated in my opinion. Lots to see and do in that area. Actually, I was almost three months pregnant when we were first there, so technically, this was Adele’s second time there!
1173680_10200657669024240_246016194_n

Grandma, Aunty EJ and Aunty Sarah were very excited to see us when we landed. Adele was in heaven with all of the attention. Plus she loved playing with the cats and dog too! Lots of exciting things to do.

IMG_0256

We had fun playing around the house for a while. And I was very excited to see a couple of Thunderstorms too! One day it even hailed! (Don’t ask me how you can get hail when it’s 90* outside!)
IMG_0258

We also enjoyed a lot of great meals while we were there too. We started with brunch at Taste.
IMG_0215
IMG_0223
IMG_0224
Adele would only let us put a hairbow in her hair if she could then pull it out and put it in ours too. It’s funny how she plays games like that now. She’s getting funny.

IMG_0238

We ordered the sweet potato fries to share and they were AMAZING. Adele loved them too.

That night, we ventured out again to Napolese for dinner.
IMG_0271

We had some great wine and amazing Pizza. EJ and Sarah bought her this cute Panda from the National Zoo in Washington DC. Adele and Mrs. Panda have been inseparable all week.
IMG_0260-MIX
On Sunday, we had a special visitor… Aunty Laurie came to visit from Chicago!
1186037_10200657668544228_591243070_n

To celebrate, we went out for brunch on Sunday. We ended up at Lincoln Square, yum!
IMG_0285

IMG_0282

Adele is getting better at not eating crayons. She still doesn’t quite get how to draw with them, but she likes to make dots on the paper and say “doot doot doot doot” while she does it. haha

IMG_0284
IMG_0288It was a quick visit for Aunty Laurie, but soon after brunch, her and I said goodbye to everyone (including Adele) and headed out on the open road.
IMG_0295

Next stop: St. Louis! Roadtripppppp! Stay tuned for more!

There’s Ice Cream in my Cake! August 20, 2013

This weekend, we celebrated my big 3-0. Irving surprised me by picking up take-out from Mozza (it’s been on my LA Foodie bucket list for a while!) The picnic pack came with two pizzas, dessert and a bottle of wine. Sounds like a party to me!
IMG_0080

We took our dinner to our favorite park and enjoyed our birthday meal under a shady tree.
IMG_0082

IMG_0088

We tried to conceal our ‘open container of alcohol’ behind the stroller. Shhh! We’re such rebels!
IMG_0077PS: Thanks for the cool picnic wine holders mom and dad!

The pizza was ah-mazing. Adele even ate a whole slice of mine! Considering she doesn’t really eat anything anymore, that was quite the compliment to Mozza!
IMG_0092

I was in the middle of taking self portraits….
IMG_0100

….and looked over and saw Adele getting into trouble. HAHA
IMG_0103

But don’t worry, that bottle was long gone by the time that picture was taken. Prosecco. Mmmm.
IMG_0105

The dessert was a decadent Butterscotch pudding with Sea Salt and whipped cream. MMmm. Pretty much the best picnic ever. I am one lucky girl.
IMG_0098
But that’s not all! Irving also surprised me with a cake, and we decided to save it for the following night. Check. It. Out.
IMG_0134

Let me set this up for you…. Baskin Robbins Ice Cream cake…. with cake on the bottom and Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream inside…. and three scoops of icecream in little cones on top (Snickers, Peanut Butter Cup and Salted Oreo). Yep. Are you kidding? Nope, not kidding.
IMG_0135

I think Adele was pretty bummed it wasn’t her birthday. Look at that face!

IMG_0142

IMG_0145

Dude, she is like SO jealous of me right now.
IMG_0148

But then I let her eat the first ice cream cone off the top and she got over it real fast.
IMG_0154

IMG_0175

And if you’re wondering, she picked the Snickers one. Good choice Adele.
IMG_0164
I think my 30s are going to be pretty awesome because with a cake like that, how can they not be?!

Last week, we checked out the Gymboree Open Gym. It’s hard to commit to a session of classes because of our schedules, but I wanted to see what it was all about.
IMG_9727

We all loved it! Adele didn’t stop moving for over an hour!
IMG_9702
IMG_9704
IMG_9718

She even jumped on the trampoline for an hour. I have to take her back solely for the purpose of watching her little feet dance on this thing again. So cute!

Oh hey, dad!

IMG_9706

IMG_9700

IMG_9711

She prefers to climb up the slides instead of going down. She was so proud of herself when she got to the top!
IMG_9722

Irving knows how to juggle and Adele was fascinated watching him. Can’t wait til she’s old enough for him to teach her!

IMG_9731

Mom doesn’t have cool talents, but nobody loves this girl like I do!

Yep, if you’re counting, this was Adele’s third birthday celebration. And her third smash cake. What can I say, go big or go home, right? The first birthday is special enough to be celebrated three times, right?

IMG_9099

Aunty Mikaela graciously hosted her party, it was so cute!

Adele, watching her guests arrive!
_DSC0074

Haha, Aunty Laurie remembered that both Irving and I had a birthday candle, so she bought Adele one! YAYYY!!!!!
IMG_1368

Soon it was CAKE TIME!!! Adele was getting tired and cranky, but as soon as she had one taste of frosting, she was 100% focused on the job at hand.

Adele is such a lucky lady, she was surrounded by love on her special day.
