The last day up at the lake. =( But we were determined to make the best of it. Waking up to a view like this was pretty incredible. Kelley Pix (192)

On another note… my grandfather can do more  pull-ups than me… I couldn’t even do one, but that’s besides the point. Kelley Pix (194)

Irving’s #1 goal for the week was going back to the diner we we visited last year so that he could have his biscuits and gravy. Who am I to deny the boy some home cookin’ in New England, right?
Kelley Pix (195)

I wanted to do our annual photoshoot at the place we got married. I can’t believe it’s been two years since I walked down the aisle there!
Kelley Pix (198)

I had a willing photographer, so we snapped a few pictures to recreate our special day!Kelley Pix (197)

Awe, I still consider myself a newlywed. When does that ever wear off?

In the afternoon, I opted for one last swim in the lake.

Til next year…

Goodbye for now, boats! Hope you have a great rest of the summer!

On our way out, we saw a mommy duck with SEVEN little ducklings. They were so cute!! Kelley Pix (223)

After HOURS of work, a boat load of money, and an incredible amount of patience, I think my Wedding Scrapbook is just about complete!

{Warning: Long Post Ahead!!}

Some of the pages I’m absolutely in love with, others might need a few tweaks, but overall, I’m proud of this book, and I hope my future family enjoys looking at it as much as I do.

These are the completed pages (note, some personal information has been edited for privacy!)
And for the record, it’s extremely difficult to take photos of scrapbook pages!

COVER

OUR ENGAGEMENT – Irving actually gave me this book on the day we got engaged. He had already completed the first page. He actually went to a scrapbook store with his mom and grandmother to create it! On the left is the history of my engagement ring (it’s a family heirloom!) His grandmother wrote in her own words the story behind the diamond! On the right is Irving’s proposal speech (written out by him!)

Not what you think it is…. March 10, 2011

It started out innocent enough….
IMG_4012

I found this recipe on Roni’s blog recently.  Avocado Chocolate Pudding. I mean… I like Avocados, and I like Chocolate.

Erika came over for dinner tonight, and we were both excited to make this for dessert.
IMG_4013

IMG_4014

Add some chopped avocado, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, milk and vanilla and give it a whirl!
IMG_4016

It was pretty amazing to see it turn into chocolate after just a couple of minutes. We were intrigued.
IMG_4017

But behold… It actually had the texture of chocolate pudding!
IMG_4019

It did taste pretty good, but it stuck to my stomache like glue. I actually only had a few bites before I had to put it down. Way too rich, even for me! It was a great experiment, and it did work… but just not for me. Maybe because I kept thinking of it as Avocado and it was weirding me out.

After dinner, we relaxed while watching this amazing movie:
IMG_4020

This is by far, my favorite movie… ever. I was obsessed when I was in middle school. Remember back in the day if you didn’t have HBO, the channel would come in scrambled? I used to listen to the movie over and over (even though I couldn’t see the picture). So, so good.

Did anyone else have this poster on their wall in 1996? Who’s with me?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
In other news, look what Irving hung on the wall today!
IMG_4009
The 1st Wedding Anniversary gift is ‘Paper’, and I gave Irving this print. The background was a photo he took of the sunrise over the lake on our wedding day. And the text is from our first dance.  The song was ‘Everything Else Disappears” by Sister Hazel. It’s a beautiful song. Here’s some of the lyrics:
I thought that I’d known you forever
I felt like I’d finally come home
After all of these lifetimes
You still take my breath away
Everything falls out of focus
You walk through the door
And one thing that’s clear to me
Helplessly hopeless
I’m all right with that
In a room full of people
Everything else disappears
Awe, I just got swept away thinking about this for a second there. Hearing our band play that song for us, and staring into Irving’s eyes was one of the best moments of my life.
Thanks for hanging the picture up, babe! Love you!
What was/will be your wedding song?
I know. I know. I’ve been MIA lately. But I have a good excuse. I’ve been in Boston for the past five days to attend an amazing wedding.
IMG_3742
Linsay and I have known each other practically since birth. We’ve been friends for over 25 years!! Those are hard to come by and I wouldn’t have missed her wedding for the world~
IMG_3643
Without posting too many pictures, you’ll just have to trust me that every little detail was perfect.
IMG_3653 IMG_3704
We had SUCH a great time laughing, dancing, eating and smiling. It was definitely a party.
IMG_3782
Congrats guys. And thanks for letting me be a part of your special day!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Other Highlights from the trip:
–Eating Crispellis and Rice Balls from an Italian restaurant that only sells Crispellis and Rice Balls. (Both were life changing, trust me!)

–Hanging out with my sister and her BF. They are really fun people. I kinda like em’.

–Playing Scribblish and Left, Right, Center with a group of my high school friends

–Meeting up with the one and only Baby Gaga!

–Seeing 3 inches of NEW snow accumulate outside in less than two hours.

It was a great trip back home, but we’re definitely looking forward to some warmer weather. Catch ya on the West Coast!

Directions to the wedding October 24, 2010

Back when we were getting married, we created a website for our wedding guests:

And buried in various pages, we had hilarious (we thought) little treasures in there.

I wanted to share our favorite one. It was under the Directions tab. We had the usual directions from the airport, etc to the wedding location… but if you looked closely and scrolled down, guests found this!

Directions from Kelley and Irving’s House

1. Begin journey at Emerson College in Boston, MA
2. Walk around Boston, dreaming about visiting Iceland and planning future in Los Angeles
3. One person fly to LA, the other remains in Boston for about 4 months.
4. The person in LA should drive to San Francisco, and the other person should pack up and move to Amsterdam for a little while.
5. After meeting up in Paris, the person in San Francisco should fly to New York…and get a job.
6. The Amsterdam person should move back to Boston and jump on the Chinatown bus from occasionally to go say hi to the New York person… oh, and sometimes the other way around.
7. When that gets old, the Boston person should fly to LA and hit up some Hollywood parties.
8. After a bit, the LA person should fly back to Boston, jump on a bus to New York and begin a drive together to Los Angeles…via Boston.
9. One person (who shall remain nameless) should start whining for a diamond ring.
10. When it becomes obvious that the next step is getting married…skip that step and buy a condo.
11. One person (who shall remain nameless) REALLY starts whining for a diamond ring.
12. When the time is right, drive to Palm Springs…right when she thinks it’s coming…psych her out and DON’T give her the diamond.
13. But the very next day, at 4:30a, take a side trip to Temecula, CA, jump in a hot air balloon…and a mile up, propose to the one you love.
14. Together, fly back to Boston, drive to Meredith, NH.
15. Follow 104 East to Route 3 North, turn left at the light. The Inns are 1/2 mile down at the Junction of Routes 3 and 25.

Approximate Travel Time: 7 years, 9 months and 27 days. (Depending on Los Angeles Traffic)

Consult map for details.

And the map looks like this!

Capture

It was a cute way to sum out our relationship leading up to the wedding. We did the long distance thing for three years! There was often a 3 timezone time difference between us. But we made it through. We’re so grateful for that distance because it made us both independent people who thrive on strong communication. (sappy, huh?)
