Last night, 12 other bloggers and I met up at the Ladyface Alehouse in Los Angeles. It was so fun to hang out on a patio, drink some great beer, and meet my online blogger friends in person!

I know absolutely nothing about beer, so I asked for the lightest beer they had on tap.
IMG_4043

The blonde was great. Crisp and refreshing.
IMG_4049

What a lovely group of people it was. The conversation went all over the place and I had a blast.

Danielle and I!

I had eaten before I came, but I had to try the Pretzel. It just seemed to fit the beer theme.

Some amazing women: Monica, Katherine and Amanda.

So fun to see Kaitlin again! And her awesome friend Katy! (She lives in Boston, where I’m from!)
–And hi Mark!

There was a group shot taken in there somewhere, if anyone has it, please send it to me!

So awesome to be in the company of such fun people, wish I got more pictures of the other fun bloggers!. We’ll just have to do it again soon!!

Not what you think it is…. March 10, 2011

It started out innocent enough….
IMG_4012

I found this recipe on Roni’s blog recently.  Avocado Chocolate Pudding. I mean… I like Avocados, and I like Chocolate.

Erika came over for dinner tonight, and we were both excited to make this for dessert.
IMG_4013

IMG_4014

Add some chopped avocado, cocoa powder, sugar, salt, milk and vanilla and give it a whirl!
IMG_4016

It was pretty amazing to see it turn into chocolate after just a couple of minutes. We were intrigued.
IMG_4017

But behold… It actually had the texture of chocolate pudding!
IMG_4019

It did taste pretty good, but it stuck to my stomache like glue. I actually only had a few bites before I had to put it down. Way too rich, even for me! It was a great experiment, and it did work… but just not for me. Maybe because I kept thinking of it as Avocado and it was weirding me out.

After dinner, we relaxed while watching this amazing movie:
IMG_4020

This is by far, my favorite movie… ever. I was obsessed when I was in middle school. Remember back in the day if you didn’t have HBO, the channel would come in scrambled? I used to listen to the movie over and over (even though I couldn’t see the picture). So, so good.

Did anyone else have this poster on their wall in 1996? Who’s with me?

In other news, look what Irving hung on the wall today!

The 1st Wedding Anniversary gift is ‘Paper’, and I gave Irving this print. The background was a photo he took of the sunrise over the lake on our wedding day. And the text is from our first dance.  The song was ‘Everything Else Disappears” by Sister Hazel. It’s a beautiful song. Here’s some of the lyrics:

I thought that I’d known you forever
I felt like I’d finally come home
After all of these lifetimes
You still take my breath away

Everything falls out of focus
You walk through the door
And one thing that’s clear to me
Helplessly hopeless
I’m all right with that
In a room full of people
Everything else disappears

Awe, I just got swept away thinking about this for a second there. Hearing our band play that song for us, and staring into Irving’s eyes was one of the best moments of my life.

Thanks for hanging the picture up, babe! Love you!

What was/will be your wedding song?

Last night, we went over to Erika and Timmy’s house for a Mexican Fiesta. They had quite the spread… I totally didn’t take any pictures, but you name it, they had. It was DELICIOUS. We were in charge of Guacamole and dessert. We figured, might as well go authentic, and headed to a Mexican Supermarket to get some fresh guacamole while we were out. We walked all around the store before asking an employee where it was. They looked at us and said “Uh, Guacamole? Like the dip?” we were like “um, Yes!?” And they didn’t have any!! Maybe they just make it fresh from home and no one actually buys it in the stores? So strange!

Anyways, for dessert, I went traditional (basically as American as you can get).

Since they just moved into a new apartment, I made half the batch of cookies as little houses!
IMG_3964

IMG_3969

And the second half, I dyed red and made little hearts (to celebrate baby Sophie!)
IMG_3970

The hearts were looking a little plain, so I dressed them up with some sprinkles!
IMG_3977

There may or may not have been a slight sprinkle disaster, but don’t worry, Irving. The roomba will eat them on Monday.
IMG_3974

They came out so cute!

IMG_3981

The house cookies did too. Can you tell it’s a house?
IMG_3975

I’m a pretty clean baker. I pretty much clean up as I go to avoid a huge mess at the end. But these sure made for a lot of dirty dishes!
IMG_3979

Irving admitted he didn’t love these cookies. And I admit, they definitely weren’t the most creative option, but once in a while, you just need an old fashioned sugar cookie.

I come home from work ravenous. No matter what I eat during the day, once 5 o’clock rolls around, I need food. Tonight, we didn’t have anything on the menu, and my hunger didn’t allow me enough time to create a meal from scratch. So we hopped into the car and headed to one of our favorite Burbank Restaurants.

It’s this little hole in the wall place that just always has good food. Irving and I joke that when we go in there, we drop the age demographic down to 75 (instead of it’s typical 85). lol We’re always the youngest ones in there, it’s a total senior citizen discount joint, but we love it.

I ordered the chicken tenders dinner… really, I wanted the salad, cornbread, veggies and sweet potatoes (and it just happen to come with a side of chicken).
2011-03-04_18-42-13_427

Served with some honey and ketchup! I just love meals with multiple components. It’s a total mind thing.

It is now 7:45p and we are definitely in our PJs headed to bed. See, we are TOTALLY senior citizens! We fit in just fine!

Bring on the weekend!!

Gorgeous Green Guac March 3, 2011

On my way home from work today, I realized that the sun was hanging out longer than usual. There was still an hour of daylight left. I got so excited. Dusk is my favorite time of day. I quickly changed and headed out the door for a nice 2 mile run. Add that to our 2 mile walk this morning and that’s 4 miles for the day. And it felt good!

Dinner tonight was another one of our Dream Dinners. We had the Tex Mex Fajitas. It was super easy to make. While Irving took care of everything on the stove, I got to work on the Guacamole. I looooooove Guacamole. Trader Joes makes it simple with their Guac Kit!
IMG_3905

It has everything you need.
IMG_3906

So pretty!
IMG_3908

But I wont, because this is just so good!
IMG_3909

The extra lime went great with some water. So refreshing! (I even picked the straws to match the Green theme!)
IMG_3910

All together now.
IMG_3912

Eaten on the bar with some Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Hi Hubby!
IMG_3913

Off to go watch The American… We have low expectations for it, but we’re on a movie kick lately. Night!
