  1. It’s COLD here! I know, I know. Everyone’s making fun of us in LA. But seriously, one day last week it was 37* when I left for work! That’s cold no matter where you live!
  2. I bought my first menorah last week! Irving’s Jewish so I want Adele to grow up with both traditions! I have no idea what I’m doing, but next year, we’ll be lighting some candles! And since it is my first, I got the bedazzled one with Swarovski crystals, because… why not? It was on clearance since it was the day after Hanukkah… plus with my coupon it was a steal of deal. Let the multi-faith celebrations begin! (next year…)
  3. I’ve been listening to this over and over again. It’s incredible!
  4. Tonight, we’re having a funeral for almost our our rubber duckies in the tub. This happened. Gross!
  5. I had been having some sciatic pain over the past year, and things just didn’t feel right. I had an xray to see what’s up. I thought it was a herniated disc (and I actually still do), but it’s being caused by an extreme curve that is pinching all my nerves there!

The left image is my lower spine. And the right image is what it’s supposed to look like. Yikes! Luckily physical therapy has been going well. I’m optimistic.

A Hollywood Christmas December 8, 2013

Even though we have to resort to fake snow to feel like it’s winter, Hollywood sure knows how to celebrate the season!

I took Adele up to Universal CityWalk this weekend to see the giant tree and meet the big man in Red!

(Let me back up a sec to let you know this is our SECOND time up here this week. We tried to see Santa a few days prior, but somebody (ahem, me!) forgot to put the chip in the camera! Oy. We enjoyed that night anyways by being there in time to see the nightly snowfall there! That was cool.)

Anyways, fast forward to today. In the morning, we did a Gymboree class that was really fun and awesome. Adele had a blast and then promptly passed out in the car when it was over. She slept for THREE hours in her carseat. Long enough for me to trek across town, go to the mall (to shop for gifts AND try on clothes myself!), go home, drive to Universal, park, get Starbucks, walk around and STILL wait around for her to wake up for another 20 minutes or so!

When Adele woke up, I changed her into a red dress (which was actually EJ’s (Irving’s sister) when she was little!

Adele woke up all happy and was calling the tree ornaments ‘apples’. She was in a great mood, so I stepped in line and introduced her to Santa. She was not impressed. I sat her on his lap… and thus resulted in this:

Best Santa photo ever. Of course I felt bad for her, but I was also super excited that my child now joins the ranks of millions who have had traumatizing Santa experiences. It’s a right of passage, right? That photo was worth every penny of the $23 they charged me. (By the way, it was FREE the other night we were there… except somebody forgot the camera chip, remember?) But it was worth it for the above photo, am I right?!

As soon as I swooped in to save her from Santa, she was back in good spirits again. And HUNGRY!

This weekend, I took Adele to a neighborhood Christmas Stroll and one of the stores brought in real snow for the kids to play with! It was actually wet and cold and could even be formed into snowballs! Adele was totally into it!

An Apple a Day… December 3, 2013

Adele’s new favorite word? Apple.

Adele’s new favorite food? Apple.

She comes to me begging for apples now. (Apple? Apple? –pronounced “app-pull”) She’ll then hold onto it and eat almost the whole thing over the course of an hour or so (the skin takes forever for her to chew.)

I gave her a small apple to chew this weekend… and right before I had company over, I panicked and realized it was missing. I looked in all her toy bins and in her usual hiding places… no apple! I’m pretty sure she didn’t eat the whole thing, core and all. And I KNOW it is in my house somewhere! And I can’t find it!

I must say I am incredibly disappointed that I had three toddlers here that night and none of them found it. Adele must have found a darn good hiding place, because murphy’s law states that if there is something that isn’t a toy, a toddler will find it. So… where is it?! I’ll update you when I find it! And believe me, I WILL find it!

[Update! two days later, we found the apple! It was in a box of Keurig K-Cups in one of our cupboards. Nicely done, Adele.]
