I come home from work ravenous. No matter what I eat during the day, once 5 o’clock rolls around, I need food. Tonight, we didn’t have anything on the menu, and my hunger didn’t allow me enough time to create a meal from scratch. So we hopped into the car and headed to one of our favorite Burbank Restaurants.

It’s this little hole in the wall place that just always has good food. Irving and I joke that when we go in there, we drop the age demographic down to 75 (instead of it’s typical 85). lol We’re always the youngest ones in there, it’s a total senior citizen discount joint, but we love it.

I ordered the chicken tenders dinner… really, I wanted the salad, cornbread, veggies and sweet potatoes (and it just happen to come with a side of chicken).

Served with some honey and ketchup! I just love meals with multiple components. It’s a total mind thing.

It is now 7:45p and we are definitely in our PJs headed to bed. See, we are TOTALLY senior citizens! We fit in just fine!

Bring on the weekend!!

My mom gave me an herb garden for my birthday….two and a half years ago! And I’m just NOW getting around to planting it. Sad, I know. But honestly, I was (and still am) afraid. I have a horrible history of killing plants, and I really really really don’t want to screw this up. But I did my research and finally decided to get real and at least give it a try.

The kit came with a ton of different seeds, but I decided to take it a little at a time and try a few basic ones first. I’m trying Basil, Chives, Thyme, Parsley and Dill.
IMG_3876

I followed the directions exactly and soaked my seeds overnight. (Is this how you soak them? Who even knows if I sabotaged my baby herbs before they were even born!)
IMG_3877

The kit came with soil pellets that looked like little brown discs.

But after soaking in water for five minutes, they exploded!

Into a whole tray of moist soil. I planted them last week, but I didn’t want to post it on the blog in case they never sprouted. But I’m happy to say that I saw my first seedling today!

I’m not quite sure if that is chives or thyme, but its green and it’s alive!!! I’m a proud mama. But I need a little help… doesn’t that look like mold around the base of the green one?

What do I do if it IS mold? Oh man, this is so stressful!

Gorgeous Green Guac

On my way home from work today, I realized that the sun was hanging out longer than usual. There was still an hour of daylight left. I got so excited. Dusk is my favorite time of day. I quickly changed and headed out the door for a nice 2 mile run. Add that to our 2 mile walk this morning and that’s 4 miles for the day. And it felt good!

Dinner tonight was another one of our Dream Dinners. We had the Tex Mex Fajitas. It was super easy to make. While Irving took care of everything on the stove, I got to work on the Guacamole. I looooooove Guacamole. Trader Joes makes it simple with their Guac Kit!
IMG_3905

It has everything you need.
IMG_3906

So pretty!
IMG_3908

But I wont, because this is just so good!
IMG_3909

The extra lime went great with some water. So refreshing! (I even picked the straws to match the Green theme!)

All together now.

Eaten on the bar with some Jeopardy and Wheel of Fortune. Hi Hubby!
IMG_3913

Off to go watch The American… We have low expectations for it, but we’re on a movie kick lately. Night!

His + Hers March 2, 2011

We’ve had a busy couple of weeks, so the theme for dinner this week is easy. Last night, we made his and hers Italian subs. Veal Cutlet for him… and Eggplant Patties for her.

A little burnt bread never killed anyone!
IMG_3899

Served along side a big salad. YUM!
IMG_3900

And eaten with some good entertainment!
IMG_3903

Dean Karnazes is a machine!!! His stories of endurance never get old.IMG_3904

Irving gave me permission to post this. MMMmm!
IMG_3902

Oh man, those towers of CDs need to go. Stat!!!!!

Tonight, we attended a 6pm screening of The Adjustment Bureau.

Sure, it had some holes, but I thought it was a cute, romantic movie. I would have said that it was a chic flick, however, due to Emily Blunt’s extremely revealing wardrobe choices…. I have to say the men will like it as well…Just sayin!

Since we got home at 8, we had some great PB&J sandwiches for dinner. Wife of the year, right here!

I think root beer floats are also on the menu tonight. YAY!

Do you eat at your desk? 90% of the time we do… when we’re not watching Jeopardy that is!

Nightmares on Kelocity Street March 1, 2011

Filed under: Random — Kelocity @ 5:14 pm

I’m one of those unlucky people who remembers my dreams every.single.day. Sometimes it can be fun when I wake up and feel like I just went on a vacation. Every morning I describe to Irving in detail what a fun roller coaster I just went on, or which celebrity I just ‘met’ or some other adventure I seemingly just experienced. I dream about water slides a lot. Maybe because I really like them?
But sometimes, remembering dreams and experiencing them so vividly is a terrible curse. I have nightmares often. I used to get them all the time when I was little and my pediatrician told my mom that I’d grow out of them. Well, I am now 27, and they are just as frequent and awful. Apparently only 8% of adults get nightmares!

A few times a week, I wake up thinking I’m being stalked, someone is being killed, my house is being broken into, you name it. This week someone was trying to kill me and I kept dialing 811 instead of 911 and no one could come to save me. The worst part is, I remember these dreams all day long too. I get flashbacks of them and it’s scary! This is why I can’t watch scary movies, because my unconscious doesn’t need to learn about new ways a person can die.

So finally, I decided to do a little research on this, and find out what is causing my nightmares. I’m not on any medications or any crazy diets, so that can’t really be it.

A few leading factors that make total sense for me:
Low Blood Sugar (because your heart beats faster, creates adrenaline and can make your mind race)
High Body Temperature (I hate being hot. I get anxious, irritable, and restless… which could contribute to that adrenaline factor)
Stress or Fear (I don’t feel overly stressed, but maybe my acute OCD can never fully tune out my to-do list?

Does anyone have any tips? I’m kinda sick of remembering my dreams (even if they do involve Leonardo DiCaprio sometimes).
