There are few things in the world more beautiful than a sunset at Buddha Point. It’s a must-see when you’re in Hawaii. It did not disappoint. Adele was pretty tired, but she got a second wind when she realized it was a special moment to experience.

I present you: The Buddha Point Sunset in Pictures:

There it goes! Just beautiful. We took a second to celebrate our little family as the sun dipped below the earth. How lucky we are to have each other and to share that moment together. So incredibly lucky.

The Beach: Swimming in A Bay May 13, 2013

The closest beach to our hotel was ‘A Bay’, which is located right on the property of the Waikoloa Marriott. We know that nearby Hapuna Beach is more beautiful, secluded and swim friendly, but we didn’t really feel like schlepping all our stuff and an 11-month old all the way there. We got all the benefits of a beach day, without the hassle at A Bay. It was a beautiful morning.

Oh hey, Pacific Ocean! Don’t you look pretty!

Time to go swimming!

As much as she loved being in the Ocean (for the first time!!), she liked the shore better so she could feel the waves lap her little feet.
IMG_1765

As much as we loved being at the Ocean, there wasn’t much shade and it was HOT.
IMG_2549

So after a couple of hours, we packed up and headed back to our hotel pool which has an abundant of umbrellas. You can’t go to Hawaii and not go to the beach! But we thought with Adele being so young, it was more fun at the pool.

I can’t wait for a year or two from now when she’ll get excited about sand castles and shell collecting. Hopefully we have a little beach baby in the making.

Irving and I woke up early and drove down to SeaWorld for the day on Sunday! My friend Courtney was in San Diego and since it’s only two hours from LA, we thought SeaWorld would be the perfect opportunity to catch up and do something fun!
IMG_1854

We started our day by going up the Sky Tower (a ride that takes you 328 feet up above the park)!  We could see all the tanks below with the dolphins and whales swimming around.

Adele loved it, obviously.

Then we headed over to ride the roller coaster! Daddy and Adele chickened out, but Courtney and I rode the Manta and LOVED it! I giggled and screamed the whole time, it was awesome!
IMG_1682

We brought our new umbrella stroller and I think Adele liked it. What a life, right?

Ok, Adele. Where should we go next?
IMG_1702

Yea? You want to see the dolphins? Ok, let’s do it!

IMG_1731

All around the park are individual aquariums, so we checked out the Sea Turtle exhibit next. These guys are awesome!
IMG_1755

IMG_1750

It was nice to be able to go from inside to outside so we never got too hot.
IMG_1768

I think her favorite part of the entire day was watching the roller coaster go by. haha Maybe because it’s so big and loud, but she was pretty mesmerized by it.
IMG_1765

IMG_1770

Adele was excited to hang out with Courtney so Irving and I could check out the Shark exhibit together. haha It was like a 3 minute date! haha We even held hands when we walked through. Awe.

And then it was time! Shamu Time!!
IMG_1785(Mom, correct me if I’m wrong, but I don’t think I’ve ever seen a killer whale, have I?) So awesome!

Hey, buddy!

Then it was time to see Shamu in action!
IMG_1828

Adele took a 10 minute nap ALL day, so she was pretty zonked by this point, but she still paid attention and watched, even from up high!
IMG_1831

IMG_1836

After the show, we walked around for a bit hoping Adele would fall asleep (spoiler alert: she didn’t), but we got to look at the Penguins and the Beluga whales! So awesome.
IMG_1839

What a great, great day. Adele was amazing and we all had a blast. It was nice to remember that San Diego is really in our backyard.
IMG_1840

Then, to keep it interesting, we headed to Old Town in San Diego for some amazing authentic Mexican Food. Yes! I almost don’t want to tell you about it because we like to keep it our little secret. (*cough*cough* Casa Guadalajara *cough*cough*) We ordered way too much food and left stuffed to the gills. We also ordered Adele food from the kids menu for the first time! Quasadilla with rice & beans with a side of fruit. She had plenty of leftovers, but she enjoyed it. Suffice it to say, she slept in the car for the entire two hours it took to get home. (and then another 12 hours straight after that!) Yea, she was tired.

I think Courtney needs to visit us more often!

Cabrillo Marine Aquarium April 1, 2013

Saturday was such a fun day and it totally made up for the quiet day we had on Friday. Irving, Adele and I joined seven other babies and friends for a day at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. There were twenty-four of us total! The aquarium employees were impressed that we all drove down to the South Bay to visit. (Totally worth the drive, by the way).
IMG_0927

It’s not an exceptionally large aquarium, but they had a few really fun exhibits that we all thought were pretty neat. For example, check out this new adorable breed of fish that has just been discovered!
Aquarium

Hardy, har har. But seriously, there were some really neat things that even I have never seen before. They had the usual octopus, seahorses and starfish, but I was most impressed by the baby sharks! Not only did they have actual baby sharks… but they had an exhibit where you could see live shark eggs…. AND see them forming inside! The eggs are a little transparent, so you could view them at each stage of gestation. It was really cool.
IMG_0926

The kids all liked the big tanks where they could gaze in wonder at the little fishies swimming by.

And of course, the dads had to climb into the viewing tunnel to view them from the inside too!

After we had our fill of educational things, we enjoyed some sunshine on the beach! There’s a cute little playground with swings and slides right on the sand! So fun!

By then, we had worked up quite an appetite and after a little googling, we found a restaurant nearby that could fit our large group on short notice. It was the Pacific Diner and they were great! We walked in and said “We’ll take all the high chairs you can give us”. They were SO accommodating.
IMG_1008

If you ever wondered what it’s like to dine at a table with EIGHT babies 5-10 months…. let me assure you that it was actually a quiet, fun and enjoyable experience. All of them were so well behaved and we had a blast hanging out with everyone. So lucky to have this wonderful group of people. Looking forward to many more adventures together as the kids grow up!

After lunch, we split off and a few of us walked the San Pedro Pier for a bit until the sun and wind was enough and then we all headed home.

I think everyone slept well that night. It was nice to get out of LA and enjoy a new neighborhood too. This city is pretty amazing.
