The day after we got home from Las Vegas, we went out to get our Christmas Tree! I couldn’t wait any longer, I am pumped for the holidays!! We took our sleigh over to Home Depot to pick out our tree!

With Adele’s approval, we picked out the perfect tree!

HAHAHA Where’s the baby?

We usually go with the least expensive kind, the ones with the long, messy needles. But this year, I wanted something different, so we upgraded to the Noble Fir. When we got home, we realized the trunk was actually too thick for our stand (and our stand is industrial because after “The Great Christmas Tree Disaster of 2006“, we don’t mess around). Somehow, we got it wedged in enough to stand up straight, but the trunk doesn’t reach the water reservoir, so we’ll see how long it lasts. So far, no needles have fallen though!

We set it up after Adele went to bed and when she woke up the next morning, she was SO excited. So far, she’s been good about looking with our eyes and not with our hands. =)

Her favorite ornament is a random duck that we have. She found it on the tree right away and quacks at it every time she sees the tree!

Undecorating the Tree January 5, 2012

I think ‘undecorating’ the Christmas Tree has got to be on the list of the World’s top ten most awful things. I always get a little sad to see the ornaments come off. Next year, I’m getting my tree in November and keeping it up til the end of January. It’s just too fun and pretty to only enjoy it for a few weeks. I

I love to look at the lights and relax. It just feels more like home with the decorations up.

But now the tree is gone and the pine needles have been swept up. I convinced Irving to let me keep the white lights up for a few more weeks. (YAY!)

This is what Irving looked like hauling our dead tree away this morning. HAHA

What do you think? Can decorations stay up through January?
I vote yes. If it makes you happy, why not, right?

Christmas Tree Time!! December 3, 2010

First of all, I can’t believe that it’s already December. Where did the year go! Regardless, I’m super excited, I love this time of year, especially in Los Angeles. It gets just cold enough to feel like Christmas, but still warm enough that you don’t need a coat.

This year, we went to get our tree at Home Depot (can’t beat the price and the convenience!)

For some reason, I started to feel a little emotional buying our tree. I just feel so lucky that we are able to afford the tree we want to get. We are so fortunate that we don’t have to choose between a tree or food on the table like so many Americans. The tree is a constant reminder to us to remember what’s really important in life, I am so lucky to have Irving and two great families to celebrate the holidays with.

We brought it home and gave her a new home in the dining room.

We let it settle and open up and we watched an episode of Weeds. And then we dragged out all the ornaments!

We put up two strands of lights and watched her glow.

We were so tired at that point that we went to bed (GASP! Without putting the ornaments on!)

So today, we woke up at 5:30a and decorated her before work. Smile Much better!

We always buy a Christmas ornament from every place we travel to.
This year’s new additions:

Whistler, British Columbia, Canada
IMG_2258

Dubai, UAE (It’s ‘gold’ and it’s a camel. how perfect is that?)
IMG_2259

Cairo, Egypt (which was actually really hard to find!)

And I know this sounds really bad, but I think I got this last year for Christmas and I really really really love this ornament….  does anyone know who gave this to me? I want to write it on the box!

The rest of the house got decorated as well!

I’ll get a picture of us in front of the tree this week to post. Now it’s time to get shopping!

Our 2009 Christmas Tree! December 12, 2009

For the past couple of years, we’ve been going to Home Depot to get our tree. They usually have pretty nice ones for a good deal, so that’s what we did this year too! I think this is actually the first year that the tree had a nice shape. Usually they’re a little crooked or dead on one side, but this little fella was perfect!

We wanted to let it open up and settle a little bit before we decorated it, so we let it sit overnight. But I got impatient for Christmas Cheer, so I plugged the lights in anyways while we watched TV. haha

The next day, while we decorated the tree, I found a Yule Log “show” on demand. haha It’s basically a fake fireplace that crackles and christmas carols play in the background! I thought it was funny because we had our real fireplace going under the TV.

The Lights went up first. It’s pretty even without ornaments!

Perfect Christmas Tree Shape!

We collect ornaments from all of our big trips. Irving put up the newest ornament first! This one was from Stockholm! (Sadly we didn’t get one in Russia, but we got it on our Russia tour, so that counts, right?)

And I put up our new one from Iceland! Isn’t this so cute? It’s made of Icelandic wool!

Here’s a few other ornaments we like!

My mom made this one! It’s made out of a light bulb!!!

The sign says “Dear Santa, I really Did Try…” hahaha that was a joke from the year our whole tree fell over. haha

I present to you… the 2009 Family Christmas Tree! All it needs now is Presents!

Then we decorated some other parts of our condo…

We filled up a glass vase with extra christmas ornaments!

And we hung our stockings with care…

Merry Christmas Everyone!!!!
