Ashley’s family lives back on the East Coast, and they wanted to be part of the Baby Shower action too! So her sister and mom organized a ‘Skype Shower’ where everyone could “see” Ashley open up all her gifts!!

It was SUCH a cute idea. All the gifts were shipped to my house so they would be a surprise! And they even sent us plates, napkins, balloons and favors that matched theirs!

Before the shower, Ashley came over early and made me homemade crepes! (Learning how to cook, remember?)

It was so easy!

The key is the nutella and the whipped cream (obviously!)

Heaven!

I hate Cooking…

I really do. I hate the grocery shopping, the meal planning, the prepping and the actual COOKING. But I love eating… so I guess I don’t have a choice right?

I seriously spent 2 hours in the grocery store yesterday going around and around waiting to be inspired by something! I swear the guys at the deli counter thought I was homeless or something because for the first two laps around the store, I had NOTHING in my cart except a couple of avocados and a bag of sugar. (I have issues).

But finally, I whipped out my blackberry, hid out in the bread aisle and crafted a week’s worth of meal ideas and the proceeded to go up and down the aisles slinging tomatoes, rice, cilantro and swiss cheese into my cart… by the end, I spent a hundred dollars. (For two people, doesn’t that seem like alot?) But to my credit, there was a $10 bottle of pure canadian maple syrup in there… (I just can’t justify buying syrup where the first ingredient is high fructose corn syrup. EW, right?)

So now, I present a challenge…. Cook a fresh meal for my family (um, Irving and me) every day for two weeks (and live to blog about it).

This will require lots of this:
IMG_6047

First up… Erika’s enchiladas recipe. I can’t take credit at all for the recipe, so head to her site and ask her for it. 🙂

A full hour later, a tray of DELICIOUS homemade enchiladas came out of the oven:

And dare I even say it was healthy? Well, healthier than if I ordered it out… and Irving LOVED it.

Challenge #1: Complete.

While I was in the kitchen, I whipped out a batch of Dark Chocolate Chip cookies!

MMmm!

On a whim, Irving and I booked a session at Dream Dinners tonight. We used to go all the time before we got married, but then we sort of forgot about it!

Dream Dinners is half restaurant/half store… you go in and make meals that you then freeze at home. It’s so much fun!

((These are camera phone photos, so not the best quality!))

First, you put on fun aprons!

0528001904

They give you a list of all the meals you bought, and you go station to station!
0528001906

They have instructions at each station to tell you what to make:
0528002003

It’s easy and fun!
0528001909

0528001911

And each meal gets packaged all together so they’re simple to prepare when you’re ready to eat them!
0528001927

0528001927a

Each person gets their own fridge to store them in while you cook!

0528001927b

0528001957

And they have chocolate to eat while you cook!!!
0528002014a

You can even bring in bottles of wine to sip while you work! Next time!

We had a nice full fridge of 36 servings of food when we were done!!!
0528002021

I really hate cooking at home, so this is the perfect alternative. We had a great time!

If anyone signs up to go to Dream Dinners, let me know! We get referral discounts!

Third Annual Fall Festival of Love! October 14, 2007

The Third Annual
"Kelley & Irving Fall Festival of Love"
October 14, 2007

For the third year in a row, we’ve been looking forward to this day all year long. And this year did not disappoint. We were originally going to go to a farm in Oak Glen, but then we found out they weren’t open on Sundays. So instead, we found Underwood Family Farms and decided to give it a try. The weather was perfect, the pumpkins were ripe, and we had a blast. Here’s some of the pictures. Enjoy!

First thing we did when we got there was eat. We wanted some real finger-licking good New England style county fair food…. we had burgers, fresh spiral potatoes, home-made donuts and fresh-squeezed lemonade (with a Red Vine for a straw…that’s a Twizzler to all you east-coasters).

And what better way to burn off all that greasy farm food than by getting lost in a corn maze for a half hour? We were thinking "it’s just a home-made corn field.. how hard can it be"? Let me tell you… it was so hard!! We were going in circles forever!

Here’s me, stuck in the corn maze (still drinking my lemonade!)

Finally, with the help of some boyscouts and kids who are smarter than we are, we made it to the top! Check out the view! Look how impossible that maze is! It was HUGE!

Then, it was off to take some pictures and find the perfect pumpkin!

We picked fresh vegetables, right off the vine. There’s nothing like tomatoes and peppers straight from the garden!
IMG_4740 (Small)

And when we got home… we cut up the veggies, and we baked them into fresh veggie pizzas. MMMmmm!! Look at how many veggies were on that thing!
IMG_4742 (Small)

Tasty! And full of vitamins. haha
