Biking in Boston October 13, 2013

After Mikaela’s bachelorette party, Irving met me in Boston and we got to enjoy two whole days together in the city! Adele had plenty of babysitters at my mom’s house, so we took advantage of the time to explore the city where Irving and I met!

On Sunday, we walked around Faneuil Hall and the Harbor. It was gorgeous out and we had fun just looking at everything that has changed (and hasn’t changed) since we left. (PS can you believe I’ve been living in LA for 9 years already?!) Crazy.

We ate lunch in Downtown Crossing.

And had dinner in the North End. It was fun to hold hands and pretend we were still in college. Awe, memories.

On Monday, we started our day with a tour of Emerson’s new campus. I’m so jealous of the kids who get to go to school there now. So many awesome changes. And somehow, we ended up getting the Will & Grace set put on display in our library! Neat!!

(Here’s what it looked like on the show):

And then we rented bikes through Hubway! It was only $6 for a bike that we could use for 24 hours. The only catch is that you have to park and exchange it every 30 minutes or you get charged by the hour. I think it’s intended for short commutes, but Irving and I took this as a challenge. We biked 13 miles stopping to exchange our bikes 7 times (there are stations all over the city, it’s awesome!) Here’s a rough estimate of our route:

For lunch, we stopped at our old stomping ground! Wing-It!!!!!

Oh man, SO good!

After lunch, we were tired and headed back to our hotel (We stayed at the Omni Parker this time, it was pretty nice. Really old, but also charming and romantic.) We wanted to try and make it almost all the way back in 30 minutes (to minimize bike exchanges in between) but there was still time for a little pit stop along the charles:

What a fun adventure in the city. =)

A Yosemite Wedding August 9, 2012

The main event from the weekend (and the reason we were visiting) was to celebrate the marriage of Irving’s friends Brian and Victoria. They are an awesome couple who LOVES the outdoors. They visit Yosemite often and have climbed some of the most famous rocks in the park together! Since it’s such a special place for them, they thought, what better place to get married?
IMG_4852

We’re always stoked for destination weddings because it’s a reason to visit places we might not otherwise think to go! Plus, I love weddings in general, so it was a no-brainer we would be there!
IMG_4838

…Even with an 8 week old baby!
IMG_4778

We were all dressed up, so of course it was the perfect opportunity for more photos!

Adele couldn’t make it to the wedding (she had big plans to spend the day with Grandma).

It was fun to introduce Adele to some of Irving’s high school friends. Hi Jesse!
IMG_4842

But soon it was time to pass her off to Grandma for the evening.
IMG_4831

I left her with a few bottles of milk and away we went. Adele was in good hands. =)
IMG_4833

The ceremony was in a gorgeous chapel on the Yosemite Valley floor (a little over an hour away). They had charter busses to bring guests down to the church. What an incredible trip though. The views were just amazing.
IMG_4853

This is Bridalveil Falls! Still had some water running over its cliffs there!
IMG_4848

Soon enough we arrived at the church! SOOO ADORABLE!
IMG_4855

It was right across the street from Yosemite Falls and El Capitan rock.
IMG_4888

I had never been to Yosemite so this was such an awesome experience.

It’s wedding time!
IMG_4863

The ceremony was so sweet and so personal. You could feel the love in the room. I love how they customized their vows to fit who they are. I definitely teared up at times. One of my favorite lines from Brian’s vows: (summarized) “You’ve given me so much love, that I will spend the rest of my life giving it back to you.” Ah, so perfect.
IMG_4877

As they walked out of the church, they rang the church bells. So cool!
IMG_4880

I was so excited that we had some time after to take more pictures outside.

These are some of Irving’s high school friends! They are going to have some AWESOME wedding photos. I can’t wait to see them all!
IMG_4902

In the Spring, Yosemite Falls is supposed to be stunning. It’s all dried up for the summer now, but I had to imagine what it looked like…
IMG_4906

Good, that’s better! Looks almost like the real thing!
IMG_4906-001

The reception was back at the Wawona Hotel, so we climbed back on the bus for the trip back. Our driver stopped at a vista point so we could get a glimpse of Half Dome and the rest of Yosemite Valley. It’s no wonder Ansel Adams took so many photos here. It’s stunning!

IMG_4917

The reception was outside on the lawn of the Wawona. I was worried about the 90*+ heat that we had been having, but it actually cooled off really nice just before dinner.

And guess what I had?! My FIRST glass of wine in 11 months!!! (My last alcoholic beverage was actually in Salzburg, Austria on our trip last year!)
IMG_4921
Mmmmm!

We snuck the baby over to our table for a few minutes because I kind of missed her! She made a polite appearance before she went back to Grandma for the night.
IMG_4922

Such a fun night and a great way to experience Yosemite. Wishing Brian and Victoria a lifetime of happiness and love. We were honored to share their special day with them.

Congrats, Guys!

I can’t believe that it has been three years since I walked down the aisle to marry this man.

If you told me three years ago that life could possibly get any better, I wouldn’t have believed you. But each year, each day, each moment that passes, I fall more and more in love with him. We laugh, we think, we travel, we discuss… Anyone that knows us knows that we’re a team and that we just enjoy living life together.

Seeing Irving become a father makes my heart swell more than I ever thought possible. It explodes every time he holds her. The love that Adele has for him is so evident too. She squeals with pure baby joy when she sees him, it’s so cute to watch. Note to self: Capture this on video, stat!

Who knew that the cute guy I met at a college party back in 2001 would become the most amazing husband and father to my daughter. I count my blessings everyday to have Irving in my life. He’s one special guy and I just feel so lucky.

Happy Anniversary, darling. Here’s to many more!

Valentine’s Day Dinner and a Movie February 15, 2012

Irving and I had big plans to have dinner at the Olive Garden last night. I loooooooove the Olive Garden and have been begging for months to go there. (Soup, Salad and Breadsticks, whoop!) We tried to make reservations and call ahead, but the only way to get a table is to show up in person…. and when we got there, the wait was 3 HOURS! They even ran out of buzzers and you had to get BACK in line to pick up your buzzer. That’s crazy.
IMG_1407

So we jumped back in the car and headed over to another place we’ve been meaning to try: The Federal. It was perfect! Wasn’t too crowded, the food was good and we weren’t rushed at all.
IMG_1412

We had a few hours to kill before our movie, so we took our time and enjoyed the conversation. We started off with drinks. Irving had the Sea Dog Blueberry (I stole a small sip and it was amazing!) I had a Seltzer Cranberry, not as good as the beer, but still delicious.
IMG_1409

We just chatted for almost two hours about everything and nothing, it was SO NICE! We kept saying how different life will be on Valentine’s Day next year! We’ll have to get a baby sitter to go out like this, just the two of us. But we’re ready for it. We’re looking forward to all the changes life will have in store for us.
IMG_1411IMG_1410

Then we had a photoshoot on the sidewalk, obviously. I wore this dress during my Bacehelorette Party in 2009 and now it’s the perfect maternity dress too. Who knew!
IMG_1416
IMG_1422

Then it was MOVIE TIME!!!! A theater near the restaurant was showing ‘Romeo & Juliet’ on the big screen!!!!! I practically know that movie by heart (it’s my favorite!!) and I haven’t seen it in theaters since 1997!! Irving had never seen it, so I was SO excited to share it with him. He’s a big John Leguizamo and Baz Luhrnman fan, so I knew he’d like it. Amazingly we made it all the way though without falling asleep. (It started at 10pm!)

It was the perfect Valentine’s Day evening. Love ya, babe!

No More Bob Marley Dreads

Irving: Why do you have dreads?
Kelley: I shower at night and I sleep with my hair wet.
Irving: Do you think that’s why Bob Marley has dreads too? Too much showering at night?

Ok, ok. I get it. I need a haircut. HAHA
IMG_1399

Chopped off about four inches and got BANGS! I haven’t had bangs since Middle School!

IMG_1406

I’m doing my best not to let the bangs annoy me. But I love how bouncy and fun it is now!
