You didn’t think I’d let that little baby avoid a weekly photoshoot just because we were on vacation, did you? No no no, my friends. Poor kid can’t escape the camera even on the other side of the country. But she’s a ham, she loves it.

But all these pictures weren’t just to capture her pretty face. I had a project in mind that I couldn’t wait to execute. It didn’t quite work out as planned, but I think it’s pretty awesome anyways. The Four Generations!

I’m doing these a little out of order here, but have no fear, I’ll make sure to post all 30 days worth of the Photography Challenge.

Day 11 – Something Blue
Oh yes, my friends. My something blue is my Tiffany’s necklace I got this weekend after completing the Nike Women’s Half Marathon for the 7th time! Instead of a race medal, all finishers get a necklace in this blue box (handed out by a firefighter in a tux!!) I proudly present my Something Blue!

Day 12 – Sunset
This was taken out the window during our 6-hour drive back to San Francisco after the race. Taken with my five year old cell phone. (What? This was a photography challenge? he he!) Even so, I was able to capture a light flare!

Day 13 – Myself with 13 Things
I decided to go with the intangible route. My ‘13 things’ is the 13 miles I walked this weekend with my Hubby during the half marathon.

I have plans to actually play with my Irving’s nice camera this weekend so I’m hoping to get more artistic. It’s already almost Thursday! Where is the weekend?!

Photography Challenge Update October 13, 2011

OK, I’m officially behind on the Photography Challenge, but I haven’t forgotten about it! Here are a few that I missed!

Day 5 – FROM A HIGH ANGLE
Taken in the Experience Music Project museum in Seattle over the weekend. It’s a sculpture of real guitars that is about three stories tall.

DAY 6 – FROM A LOW ANGLE
The Space Needle in Seattle, taken this weekend.

DAY 7 – FRUIT
TBD (!!)

DAY 8 – A BAD HABIT
I used to bite my nails, but I can proudly say I haven’t bitten them in a few months. The habit has been broken! This was taken after I had a manicure and the lady had to cut them they were so long! Whoops! I love them!

DAY 9 – SOMEONE YOU LOVE
That’s a tough one. Ha! Kidding! I love this man with all my soul.

Stay tuned for my Seattle Recap later!

Something Green and Something for YOU! October 6, 2011

First up, the Photography Challenge! I’m having a problem finding time to take pictures during daylight hours. I might have to start taking my photos on the weekend when I have more natural light to work with. That’s photography 101, right?

DAY 4 – Something Green
I was looking all over for a green subject to take pictures of. And then I realized what the perfect item would be. My sprouting chives!! I definitely don’t have a green thumb, but I’m told chives are easy to maintain, so I’m giving it a shot. New chutes are coming up and I’m so excited!

My herbs may be a sign of spring, but it actually poured in Los Angeles today. I was so sad I couldn’t ditch work in favor of some puddle jumping. The first rain of fall is always an exciting moment here in California. I was giddy when I heard it on my window when I woke up.

And now that fall has officially decided to join us here, I’m hoping it will stick around for a while. I love fall. The rain, Halloween, sweaters and cozy weekends. It’s also football season. Sometimes I put the games on just to hear the commentators. Football reminds me of home when Sunday Football was the thing to do on the weekends. I’m from Boston. Sports are a religion.

We need a team in LA, don’t you think?

Being the official sport of America… Football = FOOD. (Tell me I’m not the only one who gets excited for Superbowl purely for the buffalo dip and nachos that go with it!) But football doesn’t have to equal calories. There are smart ways of indulging without resorting to carrot sticks and water.

Here are a few snack ideas for your next big game:

  • Craisins Original Dried Cranberries: Surprise your taste buds with the sweet, delicious taste of Craisins® Dried Cranberries. Made with real fruit and good as a snack or in a recipe, they’re naturally fat-free and cholesterol-free. Plus, they’re a good source of fiber and 1/3 cup is equal to a serving of fruit.
  • Smart for Life protein bars: Eliminates post-exercise hunger, so you gain muscle not fat. Supports healthy cardiovascular function, helps promote weight loss, boosts metabolism and controls hunger.
  • Medifast Cheese Puffs: These sweet and savory products will tempt taste buds and keeps you feeling full plus they offer a daily requirement of 24 vitamins and minerals!
  • HINT Water: Staying hydrated, refreshed and in shape is a must, which is why HINT Water is offering great flavors like Strawberry-Kiwi, Mango-Grapefruit and Pomegranate-Tangerine without adding those extra calories.

What’s your favorite Sunday Night Football dish? Tell me in the comment section of this post and I’ll randomly choose a winner to receive a Prize Pack of each of these products on October 31st.

I have to remember to start carrying our good camera with me wherever I go to remind myself to take more pictures.

I’m still psyched about the Photography Challenge so here’s the past two days:

DAY 2 – WHAT I WORE TODAY
We were invited to see Ghetto Klown in Hollywood yesterday and enjoyed a night out in Hollywood (more details about that soon!)

Here’s my picture artistic picture of what I wore to the show. I love Hollywood even if it’s dirty and it smells funny. There’s something romantic under all that grit.

DAY 3 – CLOUDS
I have to admit that I actually took this picture last week enroute to a Blogger Dinner with Amanda, Andy, Kaitlin and Katherine. I was driving West on the 118 and was blinded by the sun and the golden clouds. I seriously almost pulled over to star at this. These were the most amazing clouds I’ve ever seen in LA.
