Double Digits: 10 Months April 9, 2013

Filed under: Baby — Kelocity @ 9:20 pm

Here we are. Double digit months. I can’t believe it’s April. I can’t believe we’re 1/3 through 2013 already. And I can’t believe Adele is a whooping ten months old.
IMG_1172

Oh my gosh, you have no idea how hard it was to get a picture of her (in focus) sitting with that teddy bear. She’s a lady on a mission nowadays and it’s impossible to keep her in one place. I even tried to bribe her with Happy Puffs and even that wasn’t enough. But who am I to keep a curious girl from exploring?

IMG_1234

We continue to have an absolute blast with Adele. She wakes up happy every day, she’s generous with her hugs and snuggles lately and she’s all smiles all day long. Even 10 months later, I still can’t believe what an easy baby we have.

IMG_1150That tongue!

Ten Month Stats
Weight: 17.2 lbs
Height: Not sure
Diapers: Size 2
Clothes: 9 Months

IMG_1182

TEETH
Four total! Two on the top, two on the bottom! She did so good with them. She was a little fussy for 2-3 days when each one came in, but they didn’t seem to bother her too much when we distracted her. Her toothy smile is so cute now, but it’s been tough to get a picture of them! She loves to run her tongue over her teeth and make kissy sounds by smacking her lips together.
IMG_1140

STANDING
She can easily pull up to standing now, and she’ll stand and play for long periods of time. I don’t think she’s that close to walking yet, she’s not too interested in letting go. I’m perfectly happy to wait a little bit longer for that milestone to happen.
IMG_1168

TOYS
She’s still loving my magical box of toys. She hasn’t gotten bored with it yet, but I think we need to start mixing it up a little bit in the next month or two. But like most babies, she’s way more interested in our phones, keys and shoes more than anything else.

IMG_1142

IMG_1126

FOOD
She’s drinking 15-20oz formula a day now (down from 30oz two months ago). And she’s eating real food the rest of the time. We have her eating the food the daycare provides now and less and less purees. Here’s a sample of what a typical day is like:

8a – 5oz Formula
9:30a – Banana with either a Pancake or an Egg/Cheese/Spinach scramble.
11:30a – Rice, Turkey and Beans or Pasta, Broccoli and Chicken
12p – 5oz Formula
1:30p – Yogurt and Cereal
3:30p – Semolina and Applesauce
4p – 5oz Formula
5p – Quasadilla or Cheese withBread
6p – A few bites of a couple of different things such as: Kidney Beans, Sweet Potato, Bites of Cheese, bread with hummus, Blueberries, pasta, ravioli, etc.
7:15p – 3-4oz Formula
IMG_20130402_184557

She pretty much eats anything and everything. She had sweet & sour chicken, lo mein noodles, gelato, mac & cheese, chicken tenders and more this month. Rounded out with lots of fruit and veggies of course.

TRAVEL
This month, Adele flew to Florida with mom, and drove to San Francisco with dad. Those few days when they went to SF, I was away from her for the first time and longest time ever (four days!) I missed her.

We’re getting ready to take her to Hawaii soon too too! Lucky girl.
IMG_1186

SLEEP
Same old, same old. Goes down at 7:30p and sleeps straight til 8a the next day. She’s pretty much down to just one 1-hour nap a day now too. But if she’s really sleepy or in the car for a while, she’ll sneak in a 2nd nap in the afternoon.

She still prefers to sleep on her tummy, but occasionally, we catch her being sassy with her arms behind her head. haha

ALL THINGS TEN MONTHS:
-Clapping! If you start singing “Patty Cake” she’ll clap her hands! She also claps when you ask her to sometimes. And she claps when she hears music.

-Blowing Kisses! I’m not sure if she knows what she’s doing, but if you blow a kiss at her, she’ll usually blow one back. Awwwww!

-On March 9th, she legit said “Mama” for the first time!!!!

-We have a chatty one on our hands. She talks, shrieks and babbles allllll day long. We laugh sometimes because Irving and I can’t even hold a conversation sometimes because she’s talking so loud. haha

-She dances! Adele bounces her head and her body up and down when she hears music. And she’ll look at you in the eye when she does it to make sure you’re dancing as well. She’s a team player.

-Her newest obsession is throwing laundry out of the laundry basket. Very helpful.
IMG_1243
IMG_1248

-She loves riding upright in shopping carts! I thought she was too little, but if I buckle her in, she holds on and giggles the whole time. She always looks so proud cruising down the aisles in style when we go to Target.
IMG_20130402_175835_165

-Just this past weekend, we found out Adele has a secret talent! Stair climbing! She can go up, but she can’t come down. I wasn’t there to witness it personally, but Grandma and Daddy said it was pretty awesome. Awe!

-Her hair! Where is her hair?!
HAIR

That just about wraps up month 10’s amazing highlights. I am so in love. Being Adele’s mom is such a gift. We are the two luckiest parents in the world. Happy 10 months, baby girl!

The Cold Shoulder April 8, 2013

Filed under: Baby — Kelocity @ 9:38 pm

Tonight I was SUPER excited to pick Adele up at school. I hadn’t seen her since Thursday night and I was more than ready to scoop her up and kiss her face. I had the whole thing planned out. I would walk through the door and she’d quickly crawl over to me babbling “ma ma ma ma ma” the whole way, and I’d pick her up and she’d stroke my face, look me in the eyes and smile. But instead, I walked in, she took one look at me and went back to playing. I could have sworn I even saw her shrug her shoulders. When she did turn around, she just held out her hands and gave me a look that said “Oh great, you’re here? Give me your keys”. And she proceeded to play with my keys without even looking at me. When I picked her up, she kept looking around at anything but me. Say what?! Baby girl didn’t even miss me?! Rude.

Then we headed to Costco and she started to warm up. Just like her daddy, she gets excited to shop there. I was in and out in 15 minutes, and she giggled the whole time. Ok good. She doesn’t hate me. Whew!

Once we got home, I had a nice little package waiting for me!!! My new 50mm Lens for my Irving’s camera. I don’t know anything about cameras, but I’ve been lusting over this lens for over a year now. I’m looking forward to taking lots of pretty pictures in the near future. (I just have to learn how to focus it correctly!)
IMG_1117Yep, that would be sweet potato all over her face. Love it!
Adele is TEN months old today! Double digits! I’ll have her 10-month recap up this week hopefully!

I Hate the Easter Bunny April 1, 2013

Happy Easter!!! Easter is slowly becoming one of my favorite holidays. I love the traditions, the start of spring, and the promise of a great year ahead. Of course I always miss my family on Easter, but we’re starting to form our own little traditions out here in LA and it’s becoming a special weekend to us.

EASTER LAST YEAR:

EASTER THIS YEAR:
575854_901955491931_1162518728_n

Easter morning, Adele woke up and Irving played with her in her room for an hour or so before I got up. Then we were excited to show Adele what the Easter Bunny brought for her! She was pretty excited!

IMG_1012

It’s funny how babies know new toys when they see them. She was fascinated by the eggs.
IMG_1020And then we showed her that there were Puffs inside the eggs and from that moment on, she knew the Easter Bunny was her BFF.
IMG_1022

Because this lucky lady is going to Hawaii soon, the Easter Bunny brought her gifts in a new shiny teal pail! How did he know that Teal was mom’s favorite color too? That guy is smart.
IMG_1025
IMG_1027

So what did the EB put inside that pail?
Easter2

An Easter Book, a new bath toy and some Wooden Toy Cars! I think they were all a hit! We spent a while playing with the new toys and opening as many eggs as we could.
IMG_1075

Easter

And since it wouldn’t be easter without actually meeting the Easter Bunny himself, we decided to try again to go visit him on his farm! I was determined to get a picture with the bunny no matter what! So I invited some friends and we made the 40 minute drive to Underwood Family Farms to find that rabbit!
IMG_20130331_101959_087

Note: Find friends that bring Bunny Ears on adventures. It’s worth it, trust me.
IMG_1028

When we got to the farm, it was overcast, but we figured that was better than sun, so we didn’t think anything of it. We had a blast looking at all the fun animals on the farm.
IMG_1033

Old Macdonald had a…. peacock?
IMG_1036

And then it was time to go find the Easter Bunny! …… But it started raining. At first, a few drops, then a light drizzle. So we hunkered down under a tent for a little bit waiting for the skies to clear.

IMG_1038
We waited an hour, chatting, feeding the babies, drinking coffee and hanging out.
IMG_1041

When the rain let up, we looked outside and tried to run towards the bunny!
IMG_1059

And then it started pouring again, so we retreated back to our tent. We kept peeking out seeing the miserable bunny sitting in the rain.
IMG_1044

Then the skies would clear for a few minutes and we’d head back out again. This time, we knocked on the bunny’s door (literally… we knocked), hoping he’d come out so we could get our stupid picture and go home.
IMG_1066Did you know the Easter Bunny lives in a pink house in the middle of a field? Well he does.

Then some other little kids came over, and they knocked too… but the bunny didn’t come out. Can’t say I blame him really. But I was mad. Two attempts to visit the farm, we came |thisclose| to getting our dumb picture, and then we had to surrender. The 2013 Easter Bunny picture just wasn’t going to happen.
IMG_1060Adele was sad too, can’t you tell?

Maybe I’ll photoshop the bunny in to make myself feel better.
IMG_1066 copyUm, that doesn’t make me feel better… at all.

But all jokes aside, we had an awesome day with our friends. Definitely a day we will never forget. Those poor babies were soaked and hungry, and poor Lisa’s stroller will never be the same again after riding through a muddy farm. But we lived to talk about it and it was so much fun.
IMG_1069

But the EB better watch his back, he may have escaped this imd, but Toddler Adele will seek justice next year, just you watch.
IMG_1096

I can’t remember who bought this beautiful dress for Adele, but I LOVE it. Lace makes my heart melt. It’s size 12 months too! I can’t believe it! Happy First Easter, Adele!

Cabrillo Marine Aquarium

Saturday was such a fun day and it totally made up for the quiet day we had on Friday. Irving, Adele and I joined seven other babies and friends for a day at the Cabrillo Marine Aquarium. There were twenty-four of us total! The aquarium employees were impressed that we all drove down to the South Bay to visit. (Totally worth the drive, by the way).
IMG_0927

It’s not an exceptionally large aquarium, but they had a few really fun exhibits that we all thought were pretty neat. For example, check out this new adorable breed of fish that has just been discovered!
Aquarium

Hardy, har har. But seriously, there were some really neat things that even I have never seen before. They had the usual octopus, seahorses and starfish, but I was most impressed by the baby sharks! Not only did they have actual baby sharks… but they had an exhibit where you could see live shark eggs…. AND see them forming inside! The eggs are a little transparent, so you could view them at each stage of gestation. It was really cool.
IMG_0926

The kids all liked the big tanks where they could gaze in wonder at the little fishies swimming by.

And of course, the dads had to climb into the viewing tunnel to view them from the inside too!

Even the littlest kids enjoyed the touch tide-pool!

After we had our fill of educational things, we enjoyed some sunshine on the beach! There’s a cute little playground with swings and slides right on the sand! So fun!

By then, we had worked up quite an appetite and after a little googling, we found a restaurant nearby that could fit our large group on short notice. It was the Pacific Diner and they were great! We walked in and said “We’ll take all the high chairs you can give us”. They were SO accommodating.
IMG_1008

If you ever wondered what it’s like to dine at a table with EIGHT babies 5-10 months…. let me assure you that it was actually a quiet, fun and enjoyable experience. All of them were so well behaved and we had a blast hanging out with everyone. So lucky to have this wonderful group of people. Looking forward to many more adventures together as the kids grow up!
BabiesAtTheAquarium

After lunch, we split off and a few of us walked the San Pedro Pier for a bit until the sun and wind was enough and then we all headed home.

I think everyone slept well that night. It was nice to get out of LA and enjoy a new neighborhood too. This city is pretty amazing.
