  So yesterday, Irving sent me a rather strange gchat message:

I responded: “No those are gross, I haven’t had a ding dong since I was in 3rd grade, ew”.

I was a little curious as to why he would be asking me this in the middle of the work day. A little random, no?

But then when he came home from work, he was armed with a pre-birthday surprise!

In other news, last night, my friend Erica and I got together to reminisce and share stories about when we lived abroad in The Netherlands! I lived in a 12th century castle for 4 months in 2003 (Erica was there the semester after me).

When I was in Europe, I visited 9 countries while taking 4 classes. It was such an amazing adventure.

I visited:

 

Last night, Erica showed me her awesome video she made of all the places she went and it was so fun to share stories.

Some of my favorite European stories:

  1. Meeting the Scottish Soccer Team and spending the whole night bar hopping in the South of France!
  2. Irving surprising me in Paris on Valentine’s Day
  3. Skydiving in the Swiss Alps
  4. Skiing the Italian Alps at the site of the 2006 Torino Olympics
  5. The Sound of Music Tour in Austria

So many amazing memories!

While we watched, we dined on some amazing food she made!

Pasta, Chicken, Broccoli and Tomatoes! YUM!

‘Rocking It’!! August 13, 2010

So after our healthy unhealthy meal last night, Erika and I really needed to get out for a run!! Even though it was 85* outside, we still tried to get in a good workout.

I was hoping my 13.1 Pasadena Half-Marathon shirt would give me motivation!

It was soooo hot out, and I think I was dehydrated to begin with, I was definitely dragging. We did a combination of walking and running whenever we felt like it.

Walking + Running = Rocking!   We Rocked it!

In all, we did 5.5 miles that included a loop around to Trader Joes for a few things. Including these Dried Mangos, which I attacked on the way home!

Now, I’m in the process of baking some “No Pudge Fudge Brownies”! Seriously, you combine the mix with a cup of yogurt and bake!! Mmmm!

Pickles and Papoos!

Last night, we didn’t feel like cooking, so we gathered up the troops (Erika and Timmy) and headed to Papoos for dinner!

Such a great weekend!! August 8, 2010

I had such a great relaxing, yet productive weekend!! I started it out by organizing and cleaning up so I had the whole rest of the time to have fun without guilt.

I really did three things all weekend: Run, Cook and SCRAPBOOK!!

I really HATE to cook. I hate all things related to cooking: grocery shopping, meal planning, and the actual cooking part. (Don’t let my sporadic recipes on the blog fool you!)

But I got the itch and suddenly my kitchen looked like this:

I made a Blueberry & Peach Crisp, Oatmeal Chocolate Chip Cookies, Blueberry Muffins, Israeli Cous Cous, and a few other random meals in there. I don’t know what came over me!

While I was baking, I was listening to the “90s” music station on the cable box. I literally squealed when this came on!

After I got all of my domestic duties out of the way…. it was on to SCRAPBOOKING!

This morning, I headed out to the beach with the Los Angeles Racers for a 6-mile run (per my training plan). Mile 3 was pretty slow for me, but I was able to pick up the pace at the end (thanks to my friends!!)

The weather was perfect. Overcast and a  little cool. PERFECT!! We even saw dolphins swimming off the coast towards the end!!

Irving ended up right next to them! He told me after that he didn’t see them and when he turned around he thought it was a shark. Scary!! But they just wanted to play!

Tabbouleh –> Parsley Pesto! August 6, 2010

For anyone who was interested… I added olive oil and parmesan to my botched tabbouleh and created a Parsley Pesto.

It was pretty good! I saved the day!
