My Kelocity Baby: 19 Weeks January 13, 2012

These past couple of weeks have been fun because the bump has definitely arrived!! I waited nearly five months for this! That’s the one thing I didn’t know about pregnancy going into this is that it wouldn’t be til half-way through that I would look outwardly pregnant. I always assumed people enjoyed 8-9 months of bump-ness, but it isn’t so.

How I’m Feeling: I feel awesome! I notice that I’m able to stay up longer at night and I’m not ready to face-plant into my pillow at 7pm every night anymore. I have been going on some super long walks (4-8 miles!!) this week, and even ran for a couple of blocks too. Running feels a little strange to me, like too much is wiggling around in there. But my walks have been really rewarding and leave me catching my breath at the end, so I think my body appreciates the cardio.

And this week I started to feel the baby kick!!! It’s such a strange feeling! I love the little thud, thud, thuds inside. They are becoming more frequent. Baby seems to be most active between 10a and 12p, right when I’m settling into work.

Irving and I went out to lunch this week and for dessert, he suggested we split a cookie. I told him no because I was splitting it with the baby. HAHA I mean really, taking cookies from a pregnant lady? Shame, Shame. Clearly the baby liked it because it was moving around all afternoon after that!!

Weeks along: 19 Weeks

Pounds Gained:  7.5 lbs Total

Pregnancy Woes:

  • Heartburn. It’s manageable for sure, but still lingering just enough to annoy me.
  • Restless sleep. I haven’t been able to get a solid 8 hours of sleep in weeks. I toss and turn all night long and nothing seems comfortable. I’m too hot, too cold… my hips are sore, I’m thirsty… I have to pee…. AGAIN! You get the idea.
  • Dealing with Health Insurance. We haven’t even had the baby yet and the bills are already coming in. I’m SO lucky that almost 100% of it all will be covered, but the paperwork is so confusing and frustrating to deal with!
  • Bloody Noses. I’ve had two so far. I hear it’s pretty common because of the increase of blood in your body. They are not fun though. Especially at work. Ick!
  • Snoogle. It’s love/hate. I LOVE my snoogle to help me fall asleep… but if I wake up (which I do!) and it’s still there, I have to kick it to the curb because it gets in my way.
  • Memory Loss. Seriously. I can’t remember ANYTHING anymore! It’s getting bad. Baby Brain is a very very real thing. =)

Pregnancy Loves:

  • Food Cravings: Red Grapefruit! I’ve been eating those Grapefruit Cups from Costco like it’s my job. So good!!
  • Baby Kicks! I think they’re starting to finally get more consistent. I love the little movements inside.
  • Prenatal Yoga. I had my second class this week and fell in love all over again. It’s a small class (only four people last time!) We spent the first 15 minutes or so talking about how we’re feeling, which hospital we’ll deliver at and did a little Q&A with our teacher. So informative. It’s awesome to hear how everyone else is doing too.
  • Snoogle…. only to fall asleep though (see above!)
  • Reading birth stories and following other pregnant bloggers online!

Just a little more than half-way to go!! Can’t wait to meet the little one!

Our biggest challenge now is converting THIS into a nursery:

It will be no easy task, but we’ve already cleaned out a ton of stuff. We’re getting there! We’re hoping to be ready to paint by April! Time is starting to tick by a bit faster now! We can’t wait!

Want to hear proof that our little baby is growing big and strong? Here’s the heartbeat that we recorded at home today!

That little ‘boom boom boom’ never gets old. Keep growing, little one. We love you!

Undecorating the Tree January 5, 2012

I think ‘undecorating’ the Christmas Tree has got to be on the list of the World’s top ten most awful things. I always get a little sad to see the ornaments come off. Next year, I’m getting my tree in November and keeping it up til the end of January. It’s just too fun and pretty to only enjoy it for a few weeks. I

I love to look at the lights and relax. It just feels more like home with the decorations up.

But now the tree is gone and the pine needles have been swept up. I convinced Irving to let me keep the white lights up for a few more weeks. (YAY!)

This is what Irving looked like hauling our dead tree away this morning. HAHA

What do you think? Can decorations stay up through January?
I vote yes. If it makes you happy, why not, right?

My Kelocity Baby: 17.5 Weeks January 4, 2012

Last night, I tried prenatal yoga for the first time. I wasn’t sure what to expect because (let’s face it), I’m a wee bit out of shape. But I was pleasantly surprised to learn that it was totally relaxing and a fun way to connect with the baby. There were three other baby bump mamas in the class and it was fun to meet some new people and compare notes. I think this will become a weekly routine for the two of us.

I have to say though, I’m only 17 weeks pregnant and my belly looked bigger than everyone else’s even though they were all 20+ weeks along! Guess I am also dealing with a Christmas Cookie bump too. Oh well. I’m just owning it and telling people it’s all baby. BAHAHA.

How I’m Feeling: I feel really great lately. Some of my energy is returning (I actually stayed up til 1:30a on New Year’s Eve!) It’s crazy how normal I feel yet so unlike myself at the same time. I forget I’m even pregnant and then I realize how out of breath I get doing simple things. Overall, I really can’t complain since it’s been pretty easy so far.

Weeks along: 17.5 weeks (four months)

Pounds Gained: 6.5 pounds

Pregnancy Woes:

  • Heartburn. Almost every night it creeps up, but soon after settles down.  Tums is my best friend.
  • Achy hips. My bones and joints have gotten sore in the past few weeks. I toss and turn all night since it hurts to stay in one position for too long. I think this is totally normal, but it’s kind of annoying. Guess my body is just getting prepared for what’s ahead (don’t remind me).
  • Headaches. These have subsided for the most part. A cup of tea each morning seems to help. Thankfully my migraines have been MIA since week 8 and I thank my lucky stars every day. (That was my biggest pregnancy nightmare!) knockonwood
  • Round Ligament Pain. If I move too fast or turn quickly, I notice a ‘stitch’ in my side. I think the baby is still making itself a home in there and it’s stretching more every day!

Pregnancy Loves:

  • Hearing the heartbeat! Our friends let us borrow their heartbeat monitor and I’ve been playing with it a lot lately. I finally found out where the little fella is hiding out and now I can listen to him/her anytime I want! I will try to record it this week to share it. It’s so magical and fun to remind us that there is something really growing in there!
  • Seeing Irving get excited about the baby and our future lives. It’s true what they say about how you fall in love with your husband all over again when you find out you’re having a baby. He’s been so supportive and cute about all of it. He hasn’t missed an appointment yet. I’m a lucky girl.
  • Stretchy Pants. The end.
  • Walking around with my hand on my belly smiling foolishly at the world.
  • I’m starting to feel little baby flutters. Nothing conclusive or strong yet, but just a little bit of feathery movement that makes me giddy every time.

Items we got for the baby:

We’ve been collecting a few things in the ‘baby corner’ of our room. I have been picking things up here and there when I find a great deal (or something too cute to resist). Here’s what we have so far:

  • A few cute sleepsacks and onsies from family and friends
  • A Safari hat I picked up for a buck at Babies r’ Us
  • LA Galaxy Onsie with matching cap and socks (Our first baby purchase!)
  • Some cute books and toys
  • Onsies
  • Receiving Blankets

Goal for this week:

  • Take a decent Bump picture
  • Walk a bit every night
  • Sign up for a pack of Pre-Natal Yoga classes

Next Appointment: Two weeks (and an Ultrasound!!)

We’re in the process of converting our home office into a nursery (more on that later!) Part of the process includes selling, donating and trashing A LOT of things to make room.

Today’s task: Conquer my Pen drawer (I’m a closeted Pen Hoarder)! I’ve never met a colored pen I didn’t like. I took them all out and tested every.single.one today and tossed about 20 of them.

They are now organized my type: Sharpies (thin and thick), Markers, Colored Pens, crayons, Regular pens, highlighters… I have a problem. Don’t let me steal any more pens!
