The Mac N’ Cheese Finale! August 15, 2010

To top off the end of an absolutely perfect birthday weekend, Irving offered to make me a homemade mac n’ cheese to share with some of our friends! (Yay!)

We had SO much fun playing CLUE! Have you ever played with all 6 players? It’s really hard!!

Ashley won!!

But really…. we all won when the Mac N’ Cheese came out of the oven!!

Hello, cheesy melty goodness!

With a salad bar to uh… make the meal healthy?

Dessert was some cupcakes from this morning!!!

But don’t worry, I did not eat TWO cupcakes in one day (Irving did though!)

Instead, I licked all the frosting off this morning (you know, for breakfast!)

And then tonight…. I had a little bit of frosting and the cupcake left!

HAHA I know, I’m weird!

Happy Birthday to me!!

We toasted with some Apple Cider Iced Wine that JR and Ashley brought back from New York!

JR said he’s climbed from the trees that these apples were picked from!!!

YUM!

And one more bite of frosting. MMmm!

After that, we played a SUPER fun game of “Left, Right Center”!

JR won the pot!! Winner takes all!
(Just don’t spend your $5.25 winnings all in one place!)

And even though they weren’t supposed to, my amazing friends came armed with gifts!!!

I got a cute Demdaco statue and the girl was carrying the same kind of flowers that Irving bought me yesterday!

I have quite the collection of these guys now! I love them!

I am LOVING all my pretty flowers! I’ve scattered them all over my place and I smile every time I see them!!

Thanks for helping me celebrate my birthday, guys. You all mean so much to me! I am so thankful to have you as my friends!

And I seriously got over a hundred facebook emails from friends wishing me a ‘happy birthday’ too. Thanks everyone! Miss my East Coast friends, but I appreciate the texts, emails and phone calls!!

My 27th Birthday!

Here I am… officially in my late twenties! I have a feeling it’s going to be a great year. 🙂

Irving had a top-secret evening planned! Yay!

He even got me pretty flowers!!

First stop was our favorite Pho Restaurant. I don’t even know the name because there is no sign on the door or any indication that it is even a restaurant. But I swear, it’s got the best Pho Ga in all of Los Angeles!

When we got to the restaurant, Erika and Timmy were waiting for us!

What a fun surprise! They are WAY better at keeping secrets than I would be. lol

We had fun introducing them to the world of Pho!

It’s basically a chicken noodle soup with rice noodles and some other goodies, but you put it all together yourself!

My favorite part is the mint!

The next part of the plan was to head to the Griffith Park Observatory for a ‘Star Party’. They open up all the telescopes to the public to view the moon and the stars!

But there was no parking and the lines were too long, so we decided to be spontaneous and head to Castle Park for some mini golf!!!

(PS check out the cool anklet my mom gave me!)

Mini golf was SO much fun! I’m a nerd and I love things like that!

After that, we attempted to go to one of my favorite bars in the area, but it was apparently closed for renovations! Sad!

So we called it a night and went to bed early. (I told you I was old now!)

Cupcakes and Castles August 14, 2010

So yesterday, Irving sent me a rather strange gchat message:

I responded: “No those are gross, I haven’t had a ding dong since I was in 3rd grade, ew”.

I was a little curious as to why he would be asking me this in the middle of the work day. A little random, no?

But then when he came home from work, he was armed with a pre-birthday surprise!

SPRINKLES!!!!!

Inside was the cutest little box any girl could hope for! (No, not this kind of box)!

It’s Belgian Dark Chocolate Cake and Marshmallow cream with bittersweet chocolate ganache.

In other news, last night, my friend Erica and I got together to reminisce and share stories about when we lived abroad in The Netherlands! I lived in a 12th century castle for 4 months in 2003 (Erica was there the semester after me).

While we watched, we dined on some amazing food she made!

Pasta, Chicken, Broccoli and Tomatoes! YUM!

I picked up a cauliflower medley from Trader Joes, but we weren’t impressed.

And I made brownies!

‘Rocking It’!! August 13, 2010

So after our ~~healthy~~ unhealthy meal last night, Erika and I really needed to get out for a run!! Even though it was 85* outside, we still tried to get in a good workout.

I was hoping my 13.1 Pasadena Half-Marathon shirt would give me motivation!

It was soooo hot out, and I think I was dehydrated to begin with, I was definitely dragging. We did a combination of walking and running whenever we felt like it.

Walking + Running = Rocking! We Rocked it!

In all, we did 5.5 miles that included a loop around to Trader Joes for a few things. Including these Dried Mangos, which I attacked on the way home!
