My Kelocity Baby: 30 Weeks (The big 3-0!) April 1, 2012

Wow, I’m officially into ‘the thirties’!! That seems impossible! I feel like I was just 17 weeks and wishing for my bump to grow faster! Now I’m hoping it all slows down because I don’t want it to end. I absolutely love being pregnant. I know for a fact that I’ve never been happier. I feel so content with life at the moment and I’m just SO excited for what’s in store in the next few months. I’m trying to soak up as much information about birth, breastfeeding, parenting and babies as I possibly can.

How I’m feeling: I’m still feeling awesome physically and emotionally. I feel like I’ve been in a constant good mood lately. But I’ve also been sleeping a little bit better so I’m sure that has a lot to do with it. My iron supplements have made a HUGE difference in my energy levels too. And I think it was a catalyst for better eating these past couple of weeks. I’ve been consuming lots of salads and fruit (balanced with a fair share of cupcakes too, don’t be fooled), but at least I have the nutrients of all those veggies!

Pounds Gained:  15 lbs Total

Pregnancy Woes:

  • I have had some sciatic pain though that usually creeps up every night before bed. I am foam rolling my lower back and using tennis balls to massage out some kinks and that usually does the trick.
  • Heartburn. I’m over it…. At least I know I won’t have a calcium deficiency anytime soon with all the tums I’ve been popping!
  • I kind of really miss beer. I was never a huge drinker… but lately, all I want is a frosty mug of beer. Especially on Friday afternoons. 10 more weeks!

Pregnancy Loves:

  • Still going migraine-free! This is seriously so exciting for someone who used to get them multiple times a week. YAY!

  • Baby kicks! Hi baby!

  • Snoogle. We’re BFF’s again.

IMG_1969

Items we got for the baby:

  • I picked up a couple of onsies from Old Navy on sale this week! Tried to get as gender neutral as possible. So cute!
    IMG_1946
  • I bought some nursing supplies at Motherhood Maternity and when I signed up for their member program they gave me a goodie bag. Another free bottle! Score!
    IMG_1944

Highlights of the Week:

  • I saw The Hunger Games with my friend, Janet! Loved it! I think the baby did too. Every time the music got loud, he/she would start kicking.
  • Finishing up the Baby’s Room! So exciting.
  • Seeing Baby Gaga! It is always fun when East Coast friends come to visit LA! We miss them!

  • Irving and I had a fun date night last night! We had dinner at Fleming’s Steakhouse and I ordered filet mignon for the first time ever. We made sure to really enjoy the nice meal together because our opportunities for solo nights out at nice places will be slim in the next few months!

Goal for this week:

  • Yoga! I skipped this week so I’m excited to go back.
  • We have a prenatal appointment this week! Excited to hear how the baby is doing.
  • We’re attending a baby-wearing clinic on Saturday. I’m leaning towards the Ergo, thoughts?

Our ‘To-Do Before Baby’ list is shrinking! I’m down to only a few projects (mainly VHS digitizing and digital photo organizing). One thing I checked off this week is copying my box of recipes to cards and organizing them alphabetically (nerdy, I know). But it was a relaxing thing to do on a Sunday morning with a cup of tea.

The Baby Room Time Lapse March 28, 2012

This past weekend, we put the baby’s room all together. Now all the furniture is in place and it feels so real!

The baby’s room will also double as our home office, so the challenge was making it still feel like a nursery, while still being functional for us too. We are SO happy with how it came out.

Here’s a little time lapse video we made to document how it all came together! Enjoy!

My Kelocity Baby: 29 Weeks March 25, 2012

Something definitely changed this week. All of a sudden I have become SO aware of my bump and I’ve noticed that I’ve slowed way down compared to previous weeks. I’m getting winded easily and I have to put my feet up way more often than before. But I think it’s a good thing because mentally I’ve slowed down as well and I’m really starting to get excited for the next 10 weeks or so.
IMG_1855

How I’m feeling: Overall, still feeling really good! I just get tired easily now and have to take more frequent rest breaks throughout the day. But I really can’t complain, that all sounds normal. I had some sciatic nerve pain develop this week that really only rears its head right when I crawl into bed. Thankfully it hasn’t crept up during the day at all though. I’m just trying to soak in as much of the pregnancy ‘happies’ as I can fit. I am trying to savor every moment and remember every detail. It just feels SO special and I’m really enjoying it.

Weeks along:
29 Weeks

Pounds Gained:  13.7 lbs Total(!)
21 Weeks 29 weeks

Pregnancy Woes:

  • Sciatic Nerve Pain. I notice it got worse the day after yoga this week, so I’m wondering if I over-stretched something or twisted something the wrong way. I usually roll around on a tennis ball or a rolled-up towel at night and that usually does the trick.
  • Heartburn. I know, I’m a broken record about that now.
  • Trouble Sleeping. Lately I have a hard time finding a comfortable position. And rolling from one side to the other takes so much work! I’m also waking up more frequently at night to use the bathroom and I just can’t sleep in long stretches of time anymore. Mama needs to rest!

Pregnancy Loves:

  • I felt a FOOT move across my belly this week!!! I could SEE it moving! I read about this, but nothing quite prepared me for awesome it would be when it actually happened! The kicks are strong and the squirming has become so obvious to me now! Maybe he/she is running out of room, but I am LOVING it. When I start to feel the movement going on, I lift up my shirt real quick to catch the baby in action. So cool.
  • I can also predict the baby’s sleeping habits like clockwork. I know that he/she is the most active at 10am, 4pm and 10:30pm. I can usually count on getting some great kicks in around those times now. I can’t believe the baby is old enough to do this!

Items we got for the baby:

  • Thank you SO much to Amanda for the SUPER cute outfits!!! So in love with them!
    IMG_1834

Goal for this week:

  • No expectations this week. Just to relax and continue putting our house back together!

Highlights of the Week:

  • Irving painted the baby’s room this week! I have TONS of pictures coming, don’t worry.
  • We built the crib and changing table! Baby has furniture!
  • I read Jenny McCarthy’s book Belly Laughs. It’s a quick, easy read and so hilarious.
    belly-laughs
  • Irving and I went to the Home Depot Center for the LA Galaxy Open House yesterday. Got to see some of our favorite players out practicing on the field! With all the kicking going on inside my  belly, looks like we might have a little soccer player in there, perhaps!

Stay tuned for a fun surprise later this week! We’ve been working hard on it! =)

The Other Brand March 22, 2012

You know how in the old battery commercials, the Energizer Bunny keeps going and going and the other brand starts strong, but fizzles out? I totally feel like the other brand lately. I wake up refreshed, go strong all day, run around like a crazy person getting things done and then 9:15pm hits and I just slam into a wall. I’m not complaining though because I really do feel great all day long.
IMG_1830

Why yes…. those are green walls you see behind me!!!
IMG_1815

Hubby has been working extra hard this week to paint the room and get it ready for the baby!
IMG_1817
Baby says: I love you, daddy!!!

Full baby room reveal next week sometime when it’s all put together, but I am so in love with it.

Tonight’s agenda:
IMG_1831

All that’s left on the list is ‘fold laundry’ and that’s only because it’s still in the dryer. Hope I can stay up long enough to wait for it!

But laundry is boring, let’s talk about my icecream!
IMG_1821

Banana Soft Serve
-Bananas (frozen)
-1 TB Peanut Butter
-1 Scoop Chocolate Protein Powder

Blend all in a food processor til creamy. Garnish with  fresh strawberries. Enjoy.

My Kelocity Baby: 28 Weeks (3rd Trimester!) March 19, 2012

I’m officially into the 3rd (and final!) trimester!! Hard to believe that I’m already this far along! Time definitely has picked up and having  a baby is becoming more real! I can now predict sleep patterns of the baby and it’s fun to know when he/she is awake or sleeping. Last night, the baby was kicking so strongly! I told Irving to come feel it and once he put his hand on my belly, the baby stopped! So I poked it a little bit and woke it back up again so he/she would kick! And it worked! Mother of the year, right here! (Does anyone know if there is research that says that is a bad idea? I kind of felt bad after.) hee hee. I love you, baby!
IMG_1743

Yesterday, Irving and I went to the LA Galaxy soccer game. He is SO excited to bring the baby to the games. Maybe by the end of this season he’ll be able to! They gave out these shirts for St. Patrick’s Day. I was happy it fit over my bump… but then I just felt frumpy and unattractive so I changed back. HAHA
IMG_1749 IMG_1778

How I’m feeling: Feeling fantastic overall. My belly is definitely getting in the way more than ever. I bent over to put something on the floor this week and it seriously took me five minutes to recover. I felt like I ran up a flight of stairs or something. I’m not able to eat as much as I used to either. I get full after half a meal (sometimes less!)  Not too much room in there anymore. I am LOVING my bump though. I love when strangers comment on it and ask me when I’m due! It’s so exciting to know the world is noticing that little miracle inside!

Weeks along:
28 Weeks

Pounds Gained: 13.5 lbs Total  (Down a pound from last week! Trust me, I’m eating my share of dessert too! My doctor isn’t concerned though. I think the low weight gain is hereditary since my mom only gained 23 pounds total with me! Let’s hope it doesn’t all catch up to me in these final 2-3 months!)
IMG_1130b  IMG_1787

Pregnancy Woes:

  • Juuuuust heartburn! The tums are borderline not even working anymore. I need to talk to my doctor about Zantac or Prilosec (though I’d like to avoid that if possible).

Pregnancy Loves:

  • Learning about the baby’s personality! It’s crazy how active he/she is now! More than I ever thought possible! It makes me laugh sometimes because I just can’t believe there’s a baby in there!
  • Setting up the nursery! I can’t believe it’s finally time to start setting up the nursery! Can’t wait to share it all with you too!

Items we got for the baby:

  • Curtains! We ordered some curtains from JC Penney to match the valance! I think they’ll look great against the green walls once they are painted! It is starting to feel like a baby’s room!
    IMG_1741
  • Books!! I got a ton of books for the baby this weekend at a consignment store. I was SO excited. I can’t wait to fill bookshelves and read to my little one. I hope he/she loves books as much as I do!
    IMG_1735
  • Paint!! We Irving will be painting the baby’s room this week!! It’s a light green to match the curtains. And after that, we can start putting the crib together!!!!
    IMG_1737

Goal for this week:

  • Get the room painted!
  • Steam Clean the rug.
  • Move furniture back into the Baby’s Room and start to set up crib?!
    IMG_1739

Highlights of the Week:

  • Finding out I passed the 3-Hour Glucose Test!
  • Learning that baby is head down! I know that could change in the next 10-12 weeks, but it made me excited to know this!
  • Possibly found a daycare we really liked! This has been a somewhat stressful process, but I’m really excited we at least have an option we feel comfortable with. Feels like a weight has been lifted for sure!
  • Getting a new water bottle! I don’t drink enough water; I’ve always been bad about this. But I finally bit the bullet and bought a 22-ounce water bottle. Let the hydration begin (better late than never, right?)
    IMG_1733
  • I watched ‘The Business of Being Born’ and it made me SO excited for the delivery. I’m not too scared about it and I’m really looking forward to my childbirth class (which will be the end of April). It’s such a beautiful process and I really hope to learn as much as I can so I can enjoy it!
  • Ladies and Gentlemen: The Snoogle has officially made a re-appearance! It is no longer sleeping on the floor. I’ve been comfortably enjoying it for the past week or so. Whoo Hoo!! But I refuse to spend $25 on a Snoogle Cover (it’s a pillowcase, people! That’s ridiculous!) So I took four old pillow cases I had and sewed them all together on my sewing machine this weekend. Viola! Free Snoogle cover. Success!
