I used to watch ‘Teen Mom’ and ‘16 and Pregnant’ all the time. Now, I don’t have cable, so sadly that train wreck of a show no longer graces my television, but my sisters keep me up to date on what’s going on.

Anyways… My sister posted this picture of her boyfriend, Chris last week and I almost died laughing. SO FUNNY!

Another week in the books! Still feeling great! I didn’t get out for as many walks as I wanted to, but I did do a 5-miler on Sunday and Yoga on Tuesday. I just love my yoga class. This week, we had to find a partner and hold hands while doing squats. We must have done 30-40 of them and the teacher said “Are your legs burning? We’re going to go for one more minute because contractions are a minute long and you should learn how to breathe through the pain.” If that’s not great labor prep, I don’t know what is! I am really starting to get excited about the labor process. I hear it’s no fun, but I’m just getting so pumped for the challenge. I feel empowered and strong enough to do it and that makes me happy. It’s a great place to start.

I sttill have five more months before we meet the little one, but I am becoming more and more anxious to meet him or her. I am starting to have dreams about the baby and some of them are so vivid and feel so real. It’s going to be so much fun.

How I’m Feeling:
Still feeling really great. Heartburn continues to torture me, but all in all, I’m feeling great. I notice my back is getting a little sore, but my hips are starting to feel better. I still have enough energy to get through the day, second trimester has been great so far!

I can’t figure out if I’m carrying high or low… are any of those myths true about gender?

Pregnancy Woes:

  • Heartburn. Ahhh! Go Away!!
  • Bloody Noses… had my 3rd one this week. Gross.
  • Snoogle. It’s officially been banished to the floor. I admit it was an impulse purchase that has not yet lived up to the hype. A regular body pillow feels SO much better.
  • Charley Horse Calf Cramps at night. Any tips on how to make THAT go away?

Pregnancy Loves:

  • Food Cravings: None of note. Although I notice my sweet tooth is going away.  I’m actually starting to get turned off by it a bit. (Who am I?)
  • Baby Kicks! They never get old.
  • Yoga. I look forward to it all week long, I love it!
  • Finding the baby’s heartbeat at night and chasing him/her around my belly.

Items we got for the baby:

  • None this week.

  • Start a Registry
  • Lift some weights

Next Appointment: Valentine’s Day week. ❤

Highlights of the Week:

  • Clearing out more stuff to make room for the nursery!
  • Researching and picking out a car seat and stroller

Excuse me, but please have a look at this (please don’t drool on my blog though).

I know, right? But let me back up…

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Today was one of those days that I absolutely love. A laundry list of errands that you can check off one right after the other.
Donate to Goodwill
Deposit Checks at Bank
Call Insurance Company
Grocery Shopping
Costco
Get Gas
You get the idea. I love when I have a list of easy things to check off. Feels so productive, doesn’t it? Top of the list today was going to Costco to get more grapefruit cups.
I was just telling Irving this weekend that I was sad I didn’t have any crazy food cravings. I wanted to have an excuse to make Irving leave at 10:30 at night to ‘go and get me french fries NOW!” but that just hasn’t happened. I really haven’t craved anything that I needed that much……. until today.
Costco.Sold.Out.Of.Grapefruit Cups. Noooooooooooooo!!! I asked two employees very politely to please help me find them. Both turned up empty handed. Then I started to get panicked. “But you don’t understand. I need them”. They apologized and I turned into a crazy pregnant lady. I fought back tears (not really… kind of) and walked out of the store without my beloved grapefruit. I called Irving (obviously) and he said that he had brought the last one to work, but he would bring it back home so I could have it tomorrow. That’s love.
So it’s official. Red Grapefruit cups are my craving. And I just might die if Costco doesn’t bring them back by  Wednesday. No joke.
In other news…. you know how big Los Angeles is, right? It’s huge. It’s definitely not the kind of town where you run into people you know at the store. I mean, it can happen, but on average, it’s not likely. Well the SAME family that was in front of me in line at Costco also happened to be in front of me in line at Trader Joes after! HOW WEIRD IS THAT?! The guy joked “want to come to Whole Foods with us after this?” lol
And then this happened….
Chocolate with Cookie Spread? Chocolate with Chocolate Buttercream?! Are. You. Kidding? I spotted these on Erica’s blog today and knew I had to have them. I could barely get home before I tore them both open and had a square of each. They were pretty awesome.
Half Way There!!!!! Hard to believe that my pregnancy is already half over!!! I’m not sure how that happened. At first I was convinced it was going by so slow and now I can see time starting to pick up. It’s crazy to think that in five short months I’ll have a baby in my arms! We’re both giddy with excitement.
IMG_1128
How I’m Feeling: I still feel wonderful, but I am noticing I’m starting to slow down a bit. The jetlag from last week’s cross-country flight took me a few extra days to recover. And carrying two small bags around during the trip left me feeling like I lifted weights at the gym. I notice my belly is starting to feel heavy too. And it’s beginning to get in my way; I actually walked into a wall this week because I forgot how much it’s sticking out now! My pre-pregnancy shirts are now becoming unacceptable, they are just a wee bit too short. I had been mixing my maternity wardrobe with some pieces of regular clothes I already had, but my choices are becoming smaller and smaller. I love the bump though. I love that strangers are beginning to notice and more people are giving me nice comments about it. People keep telling me these are the best weeks of pregnancy, so I’m really trying to enjoy every second and soak it all in.
Pregnancy Woes:
  • Heartburn. It’s getting worse. Why? Why? Luckily Tums is still saving the day (and night).
  • Back and hip aches. I’m starting to get adjusted to the aches and pains, yoga is definitely helping.
  • That it’s already half over! How did that happen?!
Pregnancy Loves:
  • Food Cravings: Red Grapefruit (still). This craving is hanging on strong. I have to go back to Costco to get more this weekend! Mmmm!
  • Baby Kicks! They never get old.
  • The Visible Bump. It’s here!
Items we got for the baby:
Goal for this week:
  • Research a Car Seat and Stroller.
Appointment Summary: I had my OB appointment on Thursday and everything looks great! The heartbeat was right on target and the baby is measuring right where it should be! Yesterday was my big 2nd trimester ultrasound! We were able to see the baby moving around in there! It was pretty amazing to witness and I got a little teary-eyed watching it! Its heart was beating strong and he/she was practicing swallowing which is great for development.
Right now, my little baby weighs 12 ounces!
We are not going to find out the sex of the baby until he/she is born so we were happy that nothing was revealed to us. I kind of feel bad calling the baby “it” all the time, but I’m sure he/she will forgive me someday. =)
Fun fact: I was reading my mom’s little journal that she kept when she was pregnant with me and she referred to be as “the little guy”. HA!
Highlights of the Week:
  • Going back home and seeing my family and some friends.
  • Seeing the baby at our Ultrasound appointment
  • Learning that our 2nd Trimester tests came back negative
Check out this 4D picture we got this week too! The baby has its cute little hand up next to its cheek!! Aweee!!!
I Flew Across the Country for Hoodsie Cups! January 17, 2012
This past weekend I traveled back home to Boston for a few days. Flights were SO CHEAP! I scored a deal on Jetblue that came to about $99 each way plus tax! Couldn’t say no! I was so glad that I did. It was nice to see family and friends and have absolutely no plans. There was no big event or reason for my visit, so everything was relaxed and fun and I got to spend some time with some of my favorites.
I crashed and took a 2 hour nap when I got home, and then met up with my mom, grandmother and sister for lunch at an Irish Pub nearby. It was so fun to have a girls lunch and catch up. That alone was worth the plane ticket.
IMG_1100
And for dessert… I ordered a Hoodsie Cup!!!! If you’re not from New England, you have probably never had one of these, but it’s SO GOOD! I crave them on the west coast and was happy to introduce the baby to the joy of Hoodsies. =)
IMG_1101
In the afternoon, Mom and I ventured to Buy Buy Baby to do some research. I was numb by the end, so many decisions to make! How do you know what kind of crib/car seat/stroller/high chair/bottles/etc/etc/etc you need?! I walked away with the Baby Bargains book (it was on my to-do list this week anyways!) so hopefully that will help in some of those decisions. It was so fun though and got me so excited to meet the little one.
IMG_1102
On Sunday, I helped my mom clean up her computer (she downloaded a virus. sigh). It took all day to get it all straight again, but it was nice because in between we played games of scrabble and went shopping. Things I really never get to do with my mom when I come home for Christmas or something.
IMG_1105
In the evening I met up with my high school friends for an awesome dinner at a place a few towns over. I miss these girls so much and it was awesome to spend a whole night with them. Hi Steph and Court!
IMG_1108
Katie is 6 weeks ahead of me and it was fun to compare notes. =)  Wish we lived closer! But maybe our kids can be pen pals some day!
Kelley and Katie_preggo_1.15.12
After dinner, we watched the Golden Globes…. and had another Hoodsie Cup!!!!! Yes. They are that good.
IMG_1107
Monday morning I got the pleasure of having breakfast with this guy!!! I can’t believe how big he has gotten, he was a little man, entertaining us while we ate. I gave him lots of kisses and hugs and in return he gave me tons of smiles and giggles.
IMG_1112
His momma and I also enjoyed a morning of scrabble, laughing and trying on maternity clothes (I’m a lucky girl, she gave me so many shirts!) One morning is never enough, but I was happy to be able to hang out!!
IMG_1117
And that was it! The weekend went by way too fast but it was one of the best.
IMG_1118
Living far away is tough, but if you scoop up good deals when you can, it’s do-able. Although I think my parents were much too sad to see me leave this time. I’ll be back soon though!
IMG_1119
My flight was an hour delayed leaving Boston, but Jetblue made up for it with free movies on board. Add that to the free checked bag and empty seat next to me and all was forgiven. (Take note US AIR!)
I skipped Yoga last night. I was so sad because I had been looking forward to it, but I was jetlagged and just exhausted from the trip. I have to start listening to my body I suppose. Plus it was the kind of night where you break a glass in the sink and then have to fight back tears (yea, I was tired). But I feel much better today and all is right in the world.
