A runner with an appetite for adventure!

And she’s back… September 29, 2010

With only 18 days until the Nike Marathon…. what better time to start training than… um… TODAY! YAY!

I ran 3.4 miles outside this morning before work and it felt amazing.

It’s no surprise that I’ve been less than motivated to train for this race. I took some time off from running this summer and just never really felt like I wanted to start again. Marathon training is completely draining. I busted my butt to train for Boston and I think it took a lot out of me. Plus, I had the post marathon blues when I was done. I was so sad it was over!

I’ll take a less ambitious approach to this year’s Nike Marathon, no real goal in mind. Under 3 hours would be amazing, but it’s pretty unlikely because I don’t want to hurt myself either. This will be my 6th year running this race! I’m getting pretty excited for it.

So from now until then… I’ll try my best to be less lazy and little more excited about getting out the door and running. There’s no time like the present, right?

Color Coordination September 28, 2010

Irving and I couldn’t really decide what to do tonight, so out of boredom, I decided to organize my side of the closet. Irving’s is always pretty neat and orderly, but my side… not so much.

I typically organize my clothes by “type” (sweater vs. tshirt vs. tank top) but this time… I was living on the wild side and decided to try organizing them by COLOR. ohhh pretty!

And since we live in LA, it’s mostly tshirts (although I sure do miss big comfy New England sweaters!)

All the ducks in a row…

I give it about a week until this all ends up mismatched and piled up in the corner… just sayin’.

Dinner Challenge

Filed under: Cooking — Kelocity @ 3:55 pm

You might (or probably not) be wondering what happened to the daily dinner challenge…

Well, my friends, the streak is over. I didn’t quite last 14 days, but I had 8 amazing home-cooked meals that I’m proud I was able to make by myself. This was a big deal for me, since I really didn’t think I liked to cook.

But I learned a lot of new things and I’d consider the challenge a success.

  • I found out that if I have a recipe and all the ingredients, I actually enjoyed cooking.
  • It gave me and Irving time together in the kitchen to unwind
  • I’m actually not as starving after work like I thought I was.
  • If I had a recipe, even grocery shopping wasn’t so bad
  • I’m actually a pretty decent cook if I follow directions
  • Once things were in the oven, I had time to clean the kitchen and I became even MORE productive than if I didn’t cook.
  • It makes me appreciate eating out more, it became a treat

If you haven’t read, here is a recap of the meals I created during the challenge:

#1 – Enchiladas
#2 – Pastrami Sandwiches
#3 – French Toast
#4 – Fettuccine with Bean Soup
#5 – BLTA Sandwiches
#6 – Santa Fe Casserole
#7 – Sweet Potato Shepard’s Pie
#8 – Maple Chicken

And with that, it’s Irving’s turn to cook! Maybe just for a night or two. 🙂

PS…. the key for me is recipes, so if you have any good ones, please share!

This morning, I took Erika and Timmy’s dog Muggles out for a stroll in Griffith Park. He seemed excited when I picked him up!

Muggles lead the way.

He did SUCH a good job walking. He LOVED the path. Probably because there’s no traffic on it. 🙂

Then we watched some golfers…

PS. If you’re interested, Dinner #8 was a smashing hit. I made Erica’s Maple Chicken for the third time. As usual, it was amazing. It’s just so good. You have to try it. I added carrots too and it was divine. YUM.
