My Kelocity Baby: 32 Weeks April 14, 2012

It appears the 3rd trimester is a roller coaster of good weeks and bad weeks. This week I felt fantastic. I had lots of energy, zero aches and pains, minimal heartburn and I’m just plain happy. I am so in love with my bump and I’m really enjoying this adventure.

Today, Irving’s sister EJ and her wife, Sarah, were visiting and we ventured down to Venice Beach. They wanted to see the ocean and the boardwalk, but I was like ‘Photoshooooot!’. I can’t wait to explore LA all over again once the baby arrives.

How I’m feeling: I feel wonderful. I’m so thankful for my relatively uneventful and enjoyable pregnancy. Now that I’m in the final 8 weeks, I’ve become even more grateful for the chance to become a mother. I love my little one so fiercely and I just can’t wait to kiss that little baby forehead for the first time.

Pregnancy Woes:

  • Hot Flashes! Where did those come from. I’m always putting the AC on in the car now. And I ask people all day long “Is it hot in here, or is it just me?” It’s ALWAYS just me. haha Even down by the beach this morning I was a little warm even though it was only 55* out!
  • Charlie Horses. My calf muscles seize up a few times in the night and I have to get out of bed to stretch them out.
  • I’m prettttty sure my belly button has officially popped out.

IMG_2179

Pregnancy Loves:

  • Feeling the baby move inside. I can tell that he/she is running out of room, but that just makes the kicks and squirms more fun. I feel them all over my belly throughout the day.
  • I’m in love with strawberries, dairy and cereal lately.

Items we got for the baby:

  • EJ and Sarah gave us this handmade baby blanket that a friend made. I LOVE it. So sweet.
    IMG_2201
  • And this awesome onsie from their favorite popcorn store in Indianapolis, IN. ‘Just Popped Out’. HAHA I love that it is long sleeves and so super soft.
    IMG_2210

Highlights of the Week:

  • I had a dentist appointment this week. I know that you’re not supposed to go in the 1st or 3rd trimester, but I never got around to rescheduling. When I got in, they tried to turn me away, but I told them it was fine. HAHA luckily I got a good report, no cavities!
  • EJ and Sarah came to visit! It was a short 24 Hour trip, but we had SO much fun with them.

  • I’m picking my mom up from the airport in an hour!!! I’m so excited to see her! Two family visits in one week!

Goal for this week:

  • Doctor’s appointment in a few days!
  • Hospital Tour! I can’t wait to see where we’ll be delivering!
  • Daycare Tour of a place that was recommended to us.
  • Do some touristy Hollywood things with my mom. Why not, right?

My Kelocity Baby: 31 Weeks April 8, 2012

I’m definitely slowing down, my muscles and joints are definitely feeling the effects of pregnancy all of a sudden. I still really do feel pretty good, but by the end of the day, I’m completely wiped out. All par for the course though so all in all, no huge complaints. It was a fun week filled with friends, productivity and relaxation.
IMG_2054

How I’m feeling: I can’t lie… this past week has been tougher than any in the past. I think the third trimester has caught up to me. Most days I still feel pretty good, but I’ve had the backaches, heartburn, sore muscles and fatigue this week. I honestly think my backache may have been caused by the heartburn, but now that I’ve been taking Zantac, it’s subsided. Overall, I just feel more tired than usual. Sometimes this is frustrating because I’m someone who likes to go, go, GO all the time! But I’ve completely surrendered to my body and I’ve been going to bed at 9:30 at night. Whatever didn’t get done just has to wait til the next day. We are 100% in nesting mode now!

PS: This is the ‘Easter Edition’! I thought the colored eggs were a nice touch. hee hee

Pounds Gained:  14 lbs Total (Back down again?! I’ve been eating smaller meals since I can’t fit that much in there anymore. I wonder if that’s to blame this week?) I’ll make up for it with Easter goodies this week, don’t worry.
25 Weeks IMG_2085

Pregnancy Woes:

  • Achey back, joints and feet. My doctor laughed when I told her. She shrugged and nodded and said “Yep, that’s what happens”. haha
  • Feeling more tired than before. But I’ve been enjoying the extra hours of sleep.
  • I’m seriously running out of shirts that fully cover my bump!
  • Even after eating a small amount of food, I get really really full super fast. My whole stomach gets hard after a meal.
  • My belly button has almost popped out!!!!
  • I was signed up to run a half marathon yesterday (I purchased it before I knew I was pregnant.) It was sad to go to the expo and pick up my bib and know I wouldn’t be toeing the line with the other runners this time. I’m SO excited for my return to running in the fall.

IMG_2075

Pregnancy Loves:

  • Rubbing that big belly! I can feel all kinds of movement in there.
  • Going to the doctor and getting a good report. We love hearing the heartbeat, knowing the baby is still head down and that everything is right on track! Grow, baby, Grow!
  • I have to keep track of the baby’s kicks now. Every night I have to lie on my left side and count the kicks. I have to get 10 within an hour.  My doctor gave me a chart to keep track. So far, I can easily get all 10 within 10-20 minutes. Our baby is such an over-achiever!
  • I love trying to guess if there’s a boy or a girl in there! I daydream about what it would be like for either! I’m getting SO excited to meet the baby!!
    IMG_2095
Blue or Pink? Pink or Blue?

Items we got for the baby:

  • My friend, Janet, gave us this super soft lovey! Her baby loves to fall asleep on it and I’m sure my little one will too! Love it! Thank you!
    IMG_2053
  • Irving’s friend Brian also sent this onsie to us! I LOVE Dr. Suess!!!! So cute!
    IMG_2049

Highlights of the Week:

  • Irving took me to Olive Garden last night!!!!! I told him it was for sure the highlight of the week. I enjoyed every bite of my soup, salad and breadsticks. So so so good.
  • Seeing American Idiot last week downtown!
  • Going for a walk with Erika and her little girl, Sophie! (Boy, I needed that!)
  • Organizing my spice racks, bathroom drawers and cleaning supplies. (All three of those had been on the to-do list for months!)
  • Getting the green light to take Zantac. I can’t even explain the joy.  Heartburn be gone!! (So far, so good!)
  • Our appointments are two weeks apart now!
  • Yoga! Had a great class this week that left me shaking by the end! Felt good to sweat!
  • We attended a ‘Baby Wearing’ clinic yesterday! We really liked the Moby, but it looks like the Ergo is still the best option for us. Still have to mull it over a little more though. Decisions, Decisions.
    IMG_2044

There’s nothing cuter than seeing your husband get excited about a Babies R’ Us flier!

Goal for this week:

  • Getting ready for a week of exciting guests! Irving’s sister is coming out on Friday! And my mom flies in on Saturday! Living far away from family is tough so it’s always awesome when people make special trips out here!! YAY!!
    IMG_2066

Happy Easter/Passover everyone!!! I’m so excited to celebrate the holidays with my little baby next year!!

My Kelocity Baby: 30 Weeks (The big 3-0!) April 1, 2012

Wow, I’m officially into ‘the thirties’!! That seems impossible! I feel like I was just 17 weeks and wishing for my bump to grow faster! Now I’m hoping it all slows down because I don’t want it to end. I absolutely love being pregnant. I know for a fact that I’ve never been happier. I feel so content with life at the moment and I’m just SO excited for what’s in store in the next few months. I’m trying to soak up as much information about birth, breastfeeding, parenting and babies as I possibly can.
IMG_1951

How I’m feeling: I’m still feeling awesome physically and emotionally. I feel like I’ve been in a constant good mood lately. But I’ve also been sleeping a little bit better so I’m sure that has a lot to do with it. My iron supplements have made a HUGE difference in my energy levels too. And I think it was a catalyst for better eating these past couple of weeks. I’ve been consuming lots of salads and fruit (balanced with a fair share of cupcakes too, don’t be fooled), but at least I have the nutrients of all those veggies!

Pregnancy Woes:

  • I have had some sciatic pain though that usually creeps up every night before bed. I am foam rolling my lower back and using tennis balls to massage out some kinks and that usually does the trick.
  • Heartburn. I’m over it…. At least I know I won’t have a calcium deficiency anytime soon with all the tums I’ve been popping!
  • I kind of really miss beer. I was never a huge drinker… but lately, all I want is a frosty mug of beer. Especially on Friday afternoons. 10 more weeks!

IMG_1962

Pregnancy Loves:

  • Still going migraine-free! This is seriously so exciting for someone who used to get them multiple times a week. YAY!

  • Baby kicks! Hi baby!

  • Snoogle. We’re BFF’s again.

IMG_1969

Items we got for the baby:

  • I picked up a couple of onsies from Old Navy on sale this week! Tried to get as gender neutral as possible. So cute!
    IMG_1946
  • I bought some nursing supplies at Motherhood Maternity and when I signed up for their member program they gave me a goodie bag. Another free bottle! Score!
    IMG_1944

Highlights of the Week:

  • I saw The Hunger Games with my friend, Janet! Loved it! I think the baby did too. Every time the music got loud, he/she would start kicking.
  • Finishing up the Baby’s Room! So exciting.
  • Seeing Baby Gaga! It is always fun when East Coast friends come to visit LA! We miss them!
    IMG951013 (Photo from Baby Gaga!)
  • Irving and I had a fun date night last night! We had dinner at Fleming’s Steakhouse and I ordered filet mignon for the first time ever. We made sure to really enjoy the nice meal together because our opportunities for solo nights out at nice places will be slim in the next few months!
    IMG_1941

Goal for this week:

  • Yoga! I skipped this week so I’m excited to go back.
  • We have a prenatal appointment this week! Excited to hear how the baby is doing.
  • We’re attending a baby-wearing clinic on Saturday. I’m leaning towards the Ergo, thoughts?

IMG_1974

Our ‘To-Do Before Baby’ list is shrinking! I’m down to only a few projects (mainly VHS digitizing and digital photo organizing). One thing I checked off this week is copying my box of recipes to cards and organizing them alphabetically (nerdy, I know). But it was a relaxing thing to do on a Sunday morning with a cup of tea.

The Baby Room Time Lapse March 28, 2012

This past weekend, we put the baby’s room all together. Now all the furniture is in place and it feels so real!
CribTimeLapse1 (50)

The baby’s room will also double as our home office, so the challenge was making it still feel like a nursery, while still being functional for us too. We are SO happy with how it came out.

Here’s a little time lapse video we made to document how it all came together! Enjoy!

Something definitely changed this week. All of a sudden I have become SO aware of my bump and I’ve noticed that I’ve slowed way down compared to previous weeks. I’m getting winded easily and I have to put my feet up way more often than before. But I think it’s a good thing because mentally I’ve slowed down as well and I’m really starting to get excited for the next 10 weeks or so.
IMG_1855

How I’m feeling: Overall, still feeling really good! I just get tired easily now and have to take more frequent rest breaks throughout the day. But I really can’t complain, that all sounds normal. I had some sciatic nerve pain develop this week that really only rears its head right when I crawl into bed. Thankfully it hasn’t crept up during the day at all though. I’m just trying to soak in as much of the pregnancy ‘happies’ as I can fit. I am trying to savor every moment and remember every detail. It just feels SO special and I’m really enjoying it.

Weeks along:
29 Weeks

Pounds Gained:  13.7 lbs Total(!)
21 Weeks 29 weeks

Pregnancy Woes:

  • Sciatic Nerve Pain. I notice it got worse the day after yoga this week, so I’m wondering if I over-stretched something or twisted something the wrong way. I usually roll around on a tennis ball or a rolled-up towel at night and that usually does the trick.
  • Heartburn. I know, I’m a broken record about that now.
  • Trouble Sleeping. Lately I have a hard time finding a comfortable position. And rolling from one side to the other takes so much work! I’m also waking up more frequently at night to use the bathroom and I just can’t sleep in long stretches of time anymore. Mama needs to rest!

Pregnancy Loves:

  • I felt a FOOT move across my belly this week!!! I could SEE it moving! I read about this, but nothing quite prepared me for awesome it would be when it actually happened! The kicks are strong and the squirming has become so obvious to me now! Maybe he/she is running out of room, but I am LOVING it. When I start to feel the movement going on, I lift up my shirt real quick to catch the baby in action. So cool.
  • I can also predict the baby’s sleeping habits like clockwork. I know that he/she is the most active at 10am, 4pm and 10:30pm. I can usually count on getting some great kicks in around those times now. I can’t believe the baby is old enough to do this!

Items we got for the baby:

  • Thank you SO much to Amanda for the SUPER cute outfits!!! So in love with them!
    IMG_1834

Goal for this week:

  • No expectations this week. Just to relax and continue putting our house back together!

Highlights of the Week:

  • Irving painted the baby’s room this week! I have TONS of pictures coming, don’t worry.
  • We built the crib and changing table! Baby has furniture!
  • I read Jenny McCarthy’s book Belly Laughs. It’s a quick, easy read and so hilarious.
    belly-laughs
  • Irving and I went to the Home Depot Center for the LA Galaxy Open House yesterday. Got to see some of our favorite players out practicing on the field! With all the kicking going on inside my  belly, looks like we might have a little soccer player in there, perhaps!
