A Day in the Valley July 7, 2012

One day while my parents were here, we headed up to the Reagan Presidential Library up in Simi Valley, California. I think this is a must-see for visitors to LA. Regardless of your political party, it’s an excellent museum full of all kinds of American history. I LOVE going up there. The last time I was there was Valentine’s Day last year! And this time, we’re visiting with our baby!

I wonder if Adele was one of the youngest visitors (she was three weeks old!)

I think my parents really enjoyed it too. They remember a lot of the events that happened during his presidency, so it’s exciting to see the exhibits.

The highlight for sure is the actual Air Force One plane that had been used for SEVEN presidents! Nixon all the way through Bush!

Adele loved the big plane too. See?

My parents really loved it. It was an excellent way to spend the morning.

After we were done, we headed over to the town of FIllmore on a whim. They have a historic train village that my dad wanted to check out.
1month-blog (276)

Apparently the whole town shuts down on Mondays, so we couldn’t see too much, but it was nice to get a walk in anyways.

After we got our fill of trains, we headed back for a relaxing afternoon at home. I love doing fun out-of-the-way touristy things when people come to visit. There is so much more to LA than Hollywood and the Beaches.

One of the many reasons why I love Southern California! Adele is so lucky she will grow up here! I can’t wait to explore more with her as she grows!

Morning in the Park June 27, 2012

Yesterday morning, Irving and I packed up the stroller and walked down to the park for a few hours. The weather was perfect… blue skies with a cool breeze. We left as soon as Adele finished eating so that she would nap as much as possible.
IMG_3822

We laid out two blankets, stretched out, and enjoyed the time as a family of three. Adele loved hearing the older kids running around, seeing the squirrels jumping across the grass, and feeling the breeze on her face.
IMG_3811

Stretch, Adele, stretch! She’s so cute, we can hardly believe she is ours!
IMG_3813

I have dreamt about this day for a long time. The day where I could pack up my family and enjoy a lazy morning outside. I am so excited that it’s here. I love my little family so much. This is what it’s all about.
IMG_3814

We brought a picnic lunch and read stories.
IMG_3819

Irving read some magazines, and I wrote in my journal (I’ve been keeping a journal for Adele. Hopefully she’ll want to read it someday!).
IMG_3820

There is nothing more magical than seeing a baby snoozin’ under the shade of a big tree. Perfection.
IMG_3823

I can’t wait to do this again soon! Someday she’ll be able to run with the other kids…. slide down the slide, play in the sand, climb up the ladders… But for now, I’m enjoying her like this. There will be plenty of time for that later.

It was so nice to have my mom in town this week. We had a blast at my shower and it was so cool she was able to be there. The rest of the week was filled with a mix of relaxation, touristy things, and putting the baby’s room together.

Sunday night after the shower, we stayed in and cooked sliders on the grill. Delicious!
IMG_2317

Monday, was ‘Marathon Monday’! Wish I could have been there to cheer on all the runners! I heard it was super hot! Can’t believe it’s now been TWO years since I ran it!
IMG_2321

We decided to go enjoy downtown Los Angeles for the day. We went to the gorgeous Public Library and then to City Hall. You can go to the top of the building and see the amazing views of the city. I had never been!
IMG_2322

Mom is afraid of heights, but I think she really liked it.
IMG_2324

We saw the Disney Concert Hall, where we took some photos a few weeks back!
IMG_2325

We were told to put our ‘visitor’ sticker in an ‘obvious place’. I chose my belly since you can’t miss it!

IMG_2341

It was SO hot that all that walking downtown really did me in. I was completely pooped by the end. We spent the rest of the day home after that.
IMG_2339

Tuesday, we had a VIP tour of Warner Brothers scheduled…. or so we thought. Apparently I had booked it for the wrong day. Oops, blame the baby brain! But thankfully they let us on anyways. I had been on the WB lot before, but I had never done the official tour.

This was the old exterior set of ER! It is supposed to look like the L-Train in Chicago.
IMG_2350

This is the soundstage that ‘Friends’ was filmed in!
IMG_2355

They still have the ‘Central Perk’ set assembled in another building.

The famous friends couch!!
IMG_2361

I wear sunglasses inside because we were in Hollywood and I have to be cool. Bahaha.
IMG_2366

I just realized how coordinated our shirts were! Totally on purpose.

IMG_2378

We saw a bunch more sets and got to visit the prop house. If anyone needs a ‘Seal of the President’, take your pick!
IMG_2383

I believe after the tour, we went home to take an afternoon nap, but before sunset, we headed out again to snap some photos of the Hollywood Sign.

Hi Daddy! Can you believe our baby will be born in Los Angeles? So surreal we live here!
IMG_2460

I have some more pictures from this little photoshoot, but I’ll save them for my weekly update. =) Oh, the suspense!

After this, we made a simple ‘Make-Your-Own-Tacos’ meal and then headed over to see a taping of the Jimmy Kimmel Show. PS. This was the first time my mom had ever had guacamole! What?!
IMG_2463

The last day of my mom’s visit was all about baby. We had an OB appointment first. Baby is expected to be around 7lbs, 9oz! We’ll see if that’s accurate! Heartbeat is still strong and baby is still head down. YAY!

That night, we had our maternity tour at the hospital. It was awesome. I’ll fill you in on that in my weekly update post as well.

What a week! Had a blast! And now I need another nap. ha!

My Kelocity Baby: 32 Weeks April 14, 2012

It appears the 3rd trimester is a roller coaster of good weeks and bad weeks. This week I felt fantastic. I had lots of energy, zero aches and pains, minimal heartburn and I’m just plain happy. I am so in love with my bump and I’m really enjoying this adventure.
IMG_2161

Today, Irving’s sister EJ and her wife, Sarah, were visiting and we ventured down to Venice Beach. They wanted to see the ocean and the boardwalk, but I was like ‘Photoshooooot!’. I can’t wait to explore LA all over again once the baby arrives.

How I’m feeling: I feel wonderful. I’m so thankful for my relatively uneventful and enjoyable pregnancy. Now that I’m in the final 8 weeks, I’ve become even more grateful for the chance to become a mother. I love my little one so fiercely and I just can’t wait to kiss that little baby forehead for the first time.

Pregnancy Woes:

  • Hot Flashes! Where did those come from. I’m always putting the AC on in the car now. And I ask people all day long “Is it hot in here, or is it just me?” It’s ALWAYS just me. haha Even down by the beach this morning I was a little warm even though it was only 55* out!
  • Charlie Horses. My calf muscles seize up a few times in the night and I have to get out of bed to stretch them out.
  • I’m prettttty sure my belly button has officially popped out.

IMG_2179

Pregnancy Loves:

  • Feeling the baby move inside. I can tell that he/she is running out of room, but that just makes the kicks and squirms more fun. I feel them all over my belly throughout the day.
  • I’m in love with strawberries, dairy and cereal lately.

Items we got for the baby:

  • EJ and Sarah gave us this handmade baby blanket that a friend made. I LOVE it. So sweet.
    IMG_2201
  • And this awesome onsie from their favorite popcorn store in Indianapolis, IN. ‘Just Popped Out’. HAHA I love that it is long sleeves and so super soft.
    IMG_2210

Highlights of the Week:

  • I had a dentist appointment this week. I know that you’re not supposed to go in the 1st or 3rd trimester, but I never got around to rescheduling. When I got in, they tried to turn me away, but I told them it was fine. HAHA luckily I got a good report, no cavities!
  • EJ and Sarah came to visit! It was a short 24 Hour trip, but we had SO much fun with them.
    blog (8)
  • I’m picking my mom up from the airport in an hour!!! I’m so excited to see her! Two family visits in one week!

Goal for this week:

  • Doctor’s appointment in a few days!
  • Hospital Tour! I can’t wait to see where we’ll be delivering!
  • Daycare Tour of a place that was recommended to us.
  • Do some touristy Hollywood things with my mom. Why not, right?
